    I'm a single parent of two young boys eager to play ball. I know a few things about basketball but not the specifics. This is def going to be helpful to me. This is prob the best thing I can do for them aside from being there for them during practice and games. Keep up the good work. Thanks for this.

      Thanks to you Charlene. If you ever feel we can offer you and the boys help just let us know. Grow them into "Basketball Beasts!" Good luck.

    I've just started getting back into basketball, and Shot Science has improve my shooting more in three days, than the 11 years that I played (I was never taught proper form). Thanks a lot!
    Any tips for a lanky 6'5'' guy who always played center to transition more into a ball handler? I have super long legs and a high center of gravity. Will Dribbling 101 get me on the right track?

    I'm getting good at all the things I need for being a Point Guard, but I feel like even though I have improved, in game I just don't play great. I don't know why, I just can't implement in my game. I get nervous that I will mess up, what should I do to play as good as I am.

      Andrea Vella "FIRST OF ALL!" Quit worrying about not playing up to a certain level. Instead, work on all those things that you have improved on!! Nervousness is "FEAR!" Have "NO FEAR" and just go for it. Fear or nerves all to often ruin our game and our progress in the game. This fear is due to how your team mates will view you if you make a mistake. They make mistakes as well. Come on now! Take chances and your game will soar!

  • @ShotScience

    By pounding the ball it comes back to your hand more quickly and helps to protect the ball from defenders AND it also allows you to make more explosive moves because you don't have to wait for the ball.

    Hey shotscience team and tom, I just thought I'd update you guys on my progress so far. So after about a week and a half using the drill in this video and (I'm Sorry!!) 4 drills from expert village, my ball handling is starting to improve. (I can show you the videos and tell you my exact routine if you want.) My left hand dribbling is starting to get As Good as my right, and I can almost dribble in a straight line with my eyes closed (with both hands!). Thought I'd update you! Thanks so much!

    Location of the dribble is in front of your body and outside your "pinkie toe" and if the ball is there you should be able to keep your eyes up and still see the ball. When the ball gets too close to our body it becomes difficult to control.

  • @ShotScience
    @ShotScience  11 років тому

    We recommend using our "Form Shooting Drill" and shooting and making around 200 shots three times a week. Using this drill require that you focus on the correct shooting mechanics so that you develop the correct elements of shooting as you repeat this drill. After the MM has developed sufficiently then reduce the drill to 100 twice a week to stay sharp and hone your Muscle Memory.

    Man, my right hand is finally able to keep the ball straight up and down, my left hand feels like I am still dribbling a football. PRACTICE! It is almost there, I can smell it!! Also, I got shocked a lot in my gym today, there are some metal post covers (volleyball net posts) and it zapped me right through my shoe! Then the bleacher bolts and also the water fountain, all that pounding is making me super charged.

    PRACTICE is the best thing that you can do! Remember to keep the ball out in front of your body/feet unless you are in protection mode. If you do, you can still see the ball without looking down on it. This is using your peripheral vision!!!!! "KEEP YOUR HEAD AND EYES UP!"

  • @ShotScience
    @ShotScience  11 років тому

    Keep workin on your handles and trust yourself. Remember also that everyone who plays this game will turn the ball over until they have practiced enough and are no longer "AFRAID TO SCREW UP!" This fear in unfounded and it will keep you from getting better.

    Waist high works best unless you are crossing or changing directions and then the dribble needs to be low and quick. Low means knee high.

    @CaptainDougieBoy: Taller players sometimes don't use the backboard because they're hand goes right next to the rim when they go up for a layup. So they lay it in. Shorter players will tend to use the backboard.
