    Shooting arm fully extended, wrist with fingers toward the floor. This extension completes the stroke. We recommend holding that extended arm for about two seconds or until the ball hits the rim or goes in!

    Hey coach! I have some personal feedback I want to share with you and the rest of the subscribers. Sorry for the length, but it's worth the reading!
    When I was younger, I wasn't a great all around offensive player, but I was a lethal spot up shooter. As I got older and continued to work on my game, I developed into a pretty balanced offensive player. I was 6'1 all throughout high school and weighed 165 lbs senior year. The summer before my first year in college I started lifting routinely for the first time. After three years of consistent hard lifting, I got pretty bulky and weighed in at 220 lbs(same height)
    The drastic gain in muscle/weight changed my game a lot, and I became more of a driver. Unlike my high school days, I started seeking contact and developed a killer hopstep/crab dribble. The only major downside I noticed was my shot was no where near as effective as it once was... I thought it might of had something to do with being bulky and losing range of motion. So last winter I decided that I wanted to get in better playing shape for the summer and changed up my routine to try and lose as much body fat and bulk without it effecting my strength too much.
    By the start of summer, I got down to 10% body fat and 200 lbs. My lord did it help me on the court, and just in time for my summer league. Although my game was better, my efforts to regain my old shooting ways didn't work out as planned.. I tried to remember old drills and tricks I would do, but nothing seemed to click. I wasn't willing to give up, so I took it all the way back to square one and retaught myself all the techniques, footwork, and timing no matter how redundant it might have felt.
    About two games into my season, I found your channel searching for something bball related. Impressed with the first few videos I watched, I subscribed and started to take a look at your shooting videos. Nothing jumped out at first, but the videos were well put together and explained well both visually and verbally. I especially liked how broke down the science of the arc when shooting in regards to the trajectory and it's effect on the diameter of the rim. Truly some next level stuff!!
    For the life of me I can't remember what video of yours it was, but I ended up finding what I was looking for! In the video, you were going over simple hand placement for the shooting and guide hand. I picked up my ball and followed along. I was looking at the picture in your videos where it shows exactly where the ball should be touching on the shooting hand. I noticed my thumb wasn't quite out as far as you would like, and the ball touched a part of my palm that it wasn't suppose to. The next day I went to the local park with some friends and it didn't take long before I realized what caused my shot to slowly become less effective over the years.
    As you could imagine it was pretty frustrating trying to change my bad habit in the middle of the season. I had a few rough games shooting wise, but started to pull together toward the end of the season and saw progress.
    It's been about 6 months since i first saw your video. It's still a work in progress, but my shooting is the best it has been in YEARS thanks to YOU!! All the tedious practice trying to fix and perfect my shot has greatly paid off. With your help, my 3pt shot went from respected, to feared again. As you could imagine, it has taken my game to a whole new level, allowing me to be much more creative and confident on offense.
    I just want to say thank you for all your videos and time you have put in to make this channel!! And for all the subscribers, don't get discouraged and keep working on your game!!

    • @DJennio1
      @DJennio1 9 років тому

      MinecraftNoobs you can't judge what you'd be good at only by height. If you're shorter, you can't be a center and that's about it. I'm 16 and 6'3 yet I'm a SG/SF, so it's up to what skills you have- shooting, speed, attacking the rim, ball handling, and/or rebounding skill.

      Shoot up..not front your body is already going forward...just have a habit of having a proper and permanent upward throw in your shot..how forward u throw depends on your situation less forward force while moving forward..more when taking a fadeaway but vertical height should remain same..try that bro

    Cocking the ball that far back is NOT A GOOD IDEA!!! Please check out our "Shooting Play List" for all the information you need for re-shaping your shot.

    Well, obviously we think that you should check out our shooting mechanics as they are sound. There are a number of people who have different ideas such as the one finger release, but we feel that our methods are solid. We know that they work! Coach Tom has been teaching these for many decades with outstanding success.
