4th Gen 4Runner TRD Grill Install
Вставка
- Опубліковано 3 жов 2024
- Today I am installing a TRD style grill from on my 2006 - 2009 4Runner. I think this new grill gives the 4Runner a much more stout look. I really like the mod and hope this helps you on your 4Runner build too!
Thanks for Watching!

Thank you for the time spent sharing this with people like myself that happen to own a forth generation 4runner.
Trying my best to document each install to help other owners. Glad you enjoyed the video!
I ordered the same one and mine didn't come with the middle part of the grille that says Toyota. Do the ship it separately or did I get scammed?
You should contact the seller. Mine came with eh Toyota emblem when I ordered
nice install vid! I’ve been thinking about getting one of these grills for my 05 4Runner.
Thanks! The grill for the 05 is slightly different but pretty much the same install process.
do it, I have a 2005 and it made it look so much better
No hate but If I were you def go through the trouble of doing the satoshi Grill mod if you paid that much and it wasn’t up to par quality wise ! Loll more time consuming but it looks so clean
I do really like the Satoshi grill too. I was considering that grill too but this was much cheaper and less work.
How is the coating on the grill holding up after 7 months?
The coating has held up great! Still looks brand new when I wash it. No other plastic protection added.
You paid $130 including shipping? All of the ones I've seen on Alibaba are like $100+ for shipping to the west coast
I bought the grill in 2021. Its been sitting on my shelf a while before I installed it. Inflation :(
@@wils_builds so it seems at this point it's just cheaper to buy from a north American reseller, thank you!
When I bought it the shipping was 40 to the SF Bay Area. Shipping might be harder now. There's plenty of North American sellers. But you can probably expect similar quality since they probably buy bulk from the same manufacturer.
The gap on mine was smaller but I ordered the trim and it made it look a little more polished!
Yeah I definitely need to order a new trim piece
I ordered the trim piece. Toyota calls it a Grille Insulator. $37.00 + tax and takes a couple days to get in to pick up. I don't want to chance having the old piece rip or look crappy and have to drive around grilleless for a couple days.
@@paulcali08 I got it at the dealer for around $20 I think. The OEM was does have a seal.
Is this trim piece you guys talking about the metal piece that goes on the inside of the grille, cause I am having the same problem with a gap at the top. If it is do you mind sending a link to whatever the problem is?
It’s the rubber trim piece that goes on the back of the grill to the hood. Any dealer will have it or sparks auto parts!
Ill keep my black chrome grill on my 07 sport edition..also had my hood scoop black chromed as the paint was rubbing off and the rear latch assembly as it was rubbing off at 250k miles ..the flat black really doesnt go unless you do the black headlights and all the id badges...just my personal opinion
Im not really sold on the flat black too. I might end up color matching parts of the grill down the road.
Hey I just installed my grill from TEQ customs. I grounded it just like you. But when I put the fuse into the CIG10A, nothing happens.
When I used the ECU-IG 10A, it works. Can I use that, or should I worry?
The ECU-IG 10A will work. I originally used that but switched it to the CIG10A. I chose to not use the ECU-IG because I was worried it could mess with starting the car. I had it like that for about a week and didn't have any issues. Run it at your own risk but I don't think the lights are strong enough to affect the fuse.
@@wils_builds I ended up putting it into an empty slot in the middle with two 3amp fuses. The ECU-IG actually didn’t work. Caused a bunch of problems.
@@benwachtel23 I might switch mine to that then. But haven't experienced any issues so far using the CIG10A
@@wils_builds ok. Also thank you for being the one person who can properly explain how to install the grill. Not even the company I bought mine from could explain it. They never included any steps into the lights.
What would be a less expensive plastic protector than the Undrdog Pro?
I think something like Cerakote Ceramic Trim Coat would work well and last a long time. Its also reasonably priced for a coating.

Ive also seen many people recommend Solution Finish Black Plastic & Vinyl Plastic Trim Restorer.

Those would probably both perform well at keeping the plastics looking new. You can always just re apply if they start looking dull later.
I just had left overs of Undrdog from another project so used it.
Hope this helps!
Why doesn’t anybody make these grills for the older Gen 5😢😢😢😢
Check Alibaba. There might be something on there
Have a link to the grill?
You can just search it on alibaba. It wont show the Toyota badge but it still comes with it.
I keep coming back to this style grille. I have an 04 4th gen. Some say it'll work others say it will hit the bumper or ill have to swap the trim pieces under the light.
Any idea?
I believe you will need to get the trim piece under the light and the 06-09 headlights for this specific grill. They do have another model for the 03-05 4Runners as well.
Just get the one for the 03-05 years, there are 2 versions for the 4th gens. A 03-05 and a 06-09. Just buy the right one and you will have no problems. I personally have a 05, it fits like a glove!
where can i get the trd grill for my 2005 4runner, do they all need to be adjusted?
They have grills for the 2003 - 2005 models as well on Alibaba. There are some vendors in the US that also sell the grill as well.
Jose, I got mine from TEQ Customs and it came with the rubber strip for the gap, on my 07 4runner it wasn't a bad gap. Easy install use the original hardware though the new ones they sent out weren't so great.
Did the coating make a difference in how the grill looks?
The coating definitely helped the plastic keep a nice finish. Still looks good and no fading so far
@@wils_builds what’s the coating called?
@@ClutchKillers I used Undr Dog coating on the grill. But any ceramic coating will help to keep the grill plastic looking new.
I usually use Gtechniq - CSL Crystal Serum Light now.

I got one of these grille's, but it didn't come with the Toyota Text Logo insert in the middle.
Any ideas?
Ooh. Dang. Try to return it. Mine came with one
Come put one on my 08
Nice
damn these grills nice,..
Definitely nicer than the stock grill
Where did you order it please respond
I bought it through Alibaba. There are some places you can get it in the US.
