Hey gearhead guy. When you're replacing any bolts under the hood or under the vehicle to ensure they don't get all rusted up again like the retaining bolts for this grill insert just brush on some anti seeze and they won't rust over again and makes it easier to remove the next time for any reason at all.
Looks really good. You can easily wire them to the first click on the light stalk by wiring them to the corner lights. That’s what I did on my MR2 for the aftermarket fog light reproductions. I chose to use a relay, as well. It significantly cleans up the wiring and no need to run through the firewall. Looks great like that IMO.
I got my trd pro grille installed on my 4th gen a few months ago and also had issues with the latch. I found out I was not the only one. A tutorial video I watched also demonstrated the same issue I had. I hd to bend the rod/bracket slightly to get enough tension to open the hood. Works perfectly fine. Also, mine is color matched (Shadow Micah) as well on the border of the grille. Looks better imo
Hey, sourced my grille from Andrew also, great service. Unfortunately got hit with a massive customs fee when it arrived (in Canada too). I left it on plastic but purchased white led raptor lights on Amazon cuz I already have yellow fogs and the front would have looked like a Christmas tree with the three tones of amber/yellow. And the bolts were a total sh..show for me too, replaced them all with stainless! Great content as always
I don't even own a toyota, we currently paying off a used CRV. But I would also do these raptor lights. I love the look of those on any truck. I wanted a new tacoma but I'm not a fan of the new turbo v4s. Also not a fan of the new truck prices, so now I know I'll be buying a 2018 or newer truck, and I've fallen in love with a 4runner. Never really looked into them, but the fact I can roll-down the back glass is all I need to carry things like a pickup if needed. Hope prices and market improves in a year to finally get myself my first truck ever!
I felt the same putting raptor lights on my 4Runner too, but the oem grill definitely needs to be upgraded. I told trail runners customs I’ll order it when the raptor lights come in white led
@@JonFox1945 nice bro! I’m running cool white led on my fogs, low & high beams. I even changed the side marker bulb from Amber to white just to help stand out
I added a dash camera recently and I used an add a fuse adapter also, but, the difference is that I found that the vacant slots in the fuse box have switched and unswitched power there. That screw you used for the ground is dead in my car so ran a separate wire into the engine compartment for the ground.
@JEFFQUICKLE9 me or Canadian? I did exactly what he did in the video. It's easy, and u just pushed the lights in and it's held in by the oem grill. It hasn't moved.
I put the grill and raptor lights on my 2007 in October 2021. I also installed a push bar and KC lights on the push bar. I had it lifted 4 inches and 34 x 11.5 BF Goodrich tires. How do I post a pic?
@@CanadianGearhead you're a great man thank you for the fast reply. I had the same problem when trying to upgrade my grill as well. I love your build and videos! Keep it up man!
My 5th gen 4runner is on 33's, 1.5 wheel spacers, and -25mm offset rims... From wheels to wheels horizontally, it measures 81 inches wide, which means legally I need marker lights 🤷🏽♂️.
Yes, everyone you buy these from is getting them from Aliexpress and marking them up. He handles the international shipping and does his own quality check on them - others are just drop shipping them directly to you to make a quick buck
Damn I want this grille but I have an ‘05. He specifically states ‘06 to ‘09 One video on UA-cam about ‘05 mods showed the guy had to actually cut a huge notch out of his bumper to fit the grille. Must be a significant difference on ‘05 🤷🏻♂️
Sir, I am a multi-million mile tractor trailer driver, and the lights are correct on your 4Runner. It would show up as an oncoming large vehicle, one left front marker, three in the middle, and right front DRL. As for the grill, it has a satin finish, therefore should be left unpainted.
I think they started to refer to them as heritage grilles once they started offering them on lower level trucks but they were originally only on TRD Pro models

The corner lights are always running on Canadian vehicles so it wouldn't make a difference in this case

Oh, right. I forgot.
Nice job on the video! It looks great and much simpler to install than I thought. For what it's worth, I agree with painting it as well.

We are planning on releasing a white LED option for our products in around a month!
Yeah adding them to the OEM grille would definitely require some fabrication
I used to have a 5.0 stang too! And my thoughts exact, waiting for the white LED

These fuse adapters come in handy for sure - I have a few on hand in case I decide to install a dash cam too
You have a nice looking 4Runner.
Thanks Skippy!
Hey man, helpful video. Where did you snag the replacement bolts for the grill? I’ve searched high and low for them.
Chooo that thing is colder than a Canadian winter.
Awesome video! I ordered some off of Amazon for 3rd gen Tacoma and made them fit and wired it exactly like you did on my oem grill and it works! 😅

nice 4th gen 4runner
Thanks!
Sorey but uhhh tough nuggies 😅 had a good laugh at that great video man
Sometimes I'm not even aware of the stuff I say until I edit the video afterward hahaha
is there a way to swap out the amber for leds
Grille looks really nice....but I'd pass on the lights. Nice work!
Thanks Scott!

I don't think you can post pics in the comment section
Litterally the only mr2 I actually love. And that's an awesome showing of a awesome mr2.
Why thank you
will this work for a 2003 runner? anf can you get it where the grill spells out 4runner not toyota?
Where did you connect the ground terminal?
Does the grill fit also in cruiser 80 series??
What did you use for replacement bolts on the top? The ones that snapped or stripped out. Thanks in advance
I just found some regular bolts that fit in there then held the threads with vice grips to tighten them

The one in the bumper is curved, I have a vid on it
You are saying Trail Runner Customs buying these and holding the inventory himself and then selling them at markup? 1:50

Is it possible to put that grill on a 2011?
This one won't fit a 5th gen 4runner but I'm sure there's something similar available
How much did that come to total in CAD$?
With today's exchange rate it would be roughly $342 plus you can save 10% with code GEARHEAD
I found a bug guard!😂
Naw. Paint it. Its a ton of plain plastic on the front end for that body style
I agree 100%
I didn't paint my grill, nose I have bug stains on it. I highly recommend painting it
Honestly I feel different than most. It is labeled as a heritage girl not TRD pro. The pro just gets this grill in the TRD pro package.

That 1F4 paint code? If so sell me your old grill!
It is but it's definitely not in sellable condition lol
@@CanadianGearhead ok, I'll pay shipping ;)
I’ll buy the old grill off you. Let me know!
Unfortunately it's not for sale!
I thought you said it's not a Ford.😂
What had happened was, I ran the VIN and it turns out it's been a Raptor all this time
Paint
lose the lights
They're long gone lol
Not a bad deal
Can the same grill be installed on a 2004?
It's a different model but they make one for 2003-2005 models
