They should definitely try it although the vibe might end up different when a 3rd person who's the actual guest gets thrown in. But yeah, the need to at least try and and see how it goes 😊
Ok honestly I really love you bringing iDom back over and over. Even if he doesn’t become like a co-host, I think it’s still nice to see him pop up with you frequently 🤗.
I'm liking the Extra Trashy episodes, having iDom on as a co-host essentially makes it interesting to hear what is more or less the state of the Street Fighter FGC and the game as it is circa the time of the episode release. It airs the grievances with the game without straight up complaining about it. It's also fairly reasonable compared to most discourse, positive or negative IMO
Make iDom permanent! Super chemistry. Two brilliant and talented gentlemen. Just get iDom a new camera, add a guest FGC personality for 1/3 of the runtime and you have a great show on your hands!
Idom for official co-host! Yall are pretty good together. Kinda the opposite vibe of you and Rob. As in Rob is the high energy guy out of the pair now, you're the higher energy partner with iDom.. but both of you feel comfortable enough with each to disagree.
When Outfit 3 released a million years ago, all anyone ever talked about was how you'd have to pay $100 to get all the costumes, but I'm in iDom's camp when I say I wouldn't buy the costumes for all the characters, just my own favorites. But it was such a loud and repeated complaint that I'm sure CAP listened to that specific feedback and thought, "Well this might not be worth it for us or the players" and that could be a contributing factor to us never seeing new costumes since then.
It baffles me that they released the costumes for all characters all at the exact same time. Like Edmond Honda doesn't need to get a new costume every time that Juri and Chun Li get a costume. You can release costumes intermittently, Capcom.
@TheDeathby2 I distinctly remember there being more costumes for the likes of Chun, Juri, and Cammy compared to someone like Honda in SF5 anyways, so this could be a good practice to resume. It's better than releasing nothing. With that said, I would like to see a Yokozuna or Sumo outfit return for Honda like what he had in SF5.
That can't be true. Costumes do not cost that much to make. Do people really believe 1 single costume costs as much to make as 10% of an entire AAA game? They're just greedy and want high profit instead of low profit. They're never losing money on skins.
Careful what you wish for with the live service model. It changes incentives away from gameplay. I came to fighting games running away from all that crap, would hate to see it take root.
it's mindnumbing people asking for fighters to become more like live service games, there's like...zero examples of games that became better in these types of models, at least for me.
sf was always a live service lol. 6 sf2 versions, 3 sf3 versions, 4 sf4 versions, 2 mvc3 versions. instead of paying 30 for a season pass, you paid 30 for the yearly release
This is such a braindead take I keep seeing people repeat. SF6 is already live service slop. You have to pay full price for the game, then pay that price again for DLC then if you want skins and colors you have to grind endlessly on a boring single player mode or cough up cash for an ingame shop with microtransactions using a premium currency that forces you to buy more than you want. Not to mention the insane prices of avatar cosmetics and it having a battlepass. You're already playing live service slop bro but you had to pay full AAA price for the privelege. If the game became F2P at least you'd get a bigger playerbase, who cares if they add $500 knife skins to SF6 at this point it's already mtx slop.
But all those dislikes ratios on the official channels speak, I don't think it's just the pros who watch UA-cam. What is more, the Japanese channel has 91% dislikes, vs 84% in the international, so that thing about " the Japanese love avatar stuff" is false
Battle hub players are for sure sitting at cabinets most of the time. The avatar battles are so kneecapped because you have to play world tour a TON to upgrade your avatar and unlock all the abilities you want. There is just no way they're making a lot of money from these cosmetics
Some folks figure that Capcom saw the backlash over the costume pricing and went "Well, no costumes, then." Stupid, since they could've just lowered the damn price.
I will say that the best part about Pokken on the Switch was being able to lab ANYWHERE. That was amazing for that game and Id love if I could do that for other FGs
The fact that extra trashy is developing into Brian and Idom just yappin is such a top tier addition to the show… Brian said he took the podcasting space serious and really aimed to succeed and that shit is working 🔥🔥 long form content for the winnn
Idom is such a likeable guy. Type of dude that you would get mad at someone for pressing him. "Why you talkin to Idom like that he aint do nuffin!" type energy.
Honestly my response to the "costumes are too expensive to make" justification (if that really is the case, I don't think Capcom has said anything about it themselves), is "why did you feel the need to put Street Fighter on the RE Engine in the first place? did we really need to see every follicle of Ryu's beard or every fiber of his gi?
well making the game on a "in house" engine makes the game more profitable since they dont need to pay to epic (for example) to use unreal. and the problem isnt the engine in itself i think, its just the quality bar capcom has set themselves for the visual of the main cast costumes, for example there was a zbrush presentation with the devs near launch and they mostly do cloth physics by hand, which seems really time consuming ( even if it helps with clipping and stuff)
I pretty much played through the entirety of season one with JP and the 2HP nerf was what made my drop. Not having a reliable aa was huge, especially when the character has no 2mk cancel. He just get mugged hard.
Guessing they’ll finish the season, put out the next costumes pack, then wait again on costumes to finish the next season of chars. But they could be sprinkling more colors in with these battle passes. Want me to trudge through ranked or open battle hub? Try that carrot. It doesn’t get lower investment. Jumping to Super SF6 already tho seems pie in the sky, but maybe I’m being too patient
JP mains are just starting to roll back in, after the 1st nerf and the release of bison and akuma who both maul JP it wasnt all that fun. cHP nerf really destroyed him competitively, so im happy that was reversed.
Brian, you should do a stream or video where you go into the battle hub and try playing on the cabinets with people. Don’t do the avatar battles because you’ll certainly hate them but I think you might enjoy sitting down at a virtual cabinet and running sets with players.
I’m glad Brian_F brought up both how quarters milked customers for money and how before DLC, balance patches, and general content updates, entire new versions of the same game were released under a new name essentially having those things. The whole analogy of condiments and toppings being sold separately might be true for some extreme cases, but it’s not true for a lot of games, especially not true for fighting games. Gamers just want to complain all the time.
I just don't get why they don't take the Tekken route and allow those customization items to be added to regular fighters. It would solve two problems in one go, allowing individuality on characters without the need to produce whole new costumes for them. Probably Capcom is too afraid of seeing a customized burrito stuck on Chun's ass...
They mentioned this, it leads to visual jank that can interfere with eyeball parsing where the character and their hitboxes really are. Although, to be fair, Capcom probably are worried about burrito butt Chun 😂
I would assume there probably some technical issues in customizing 2d fighter character, when you think about character customization it's almost 3d FG exclusive, no 2d fighter ever down this.
Maybe I'm in the top 0.01%. But I don't care about costumes. At leat the ones that dont come bundled with the Ultimate Edition/Character Passes. I'm already paying for the base game, plus yearly character passes. I also don't really buy stuff in free to play games. :p I got the battle pass in The Finals because I get more currency than what it costs. And a few cosmetics the complete my custom character. Which on that note, I wonder why world tour is getting all the love. ;p ;)
I just hopped back on SF6 ranked for the first time since Akuma dropped and I couldn't believe how little content support the game had gotten since I last checked in on it. I'm a fulltime 3D artist and yes SF 6 is a very high fidelity game, but theres no way that's the only thing slowly down the release of costumes, characters and stages
I love Idom dude, im glad he decided to get into the content making game because when I watched him play back in SFV he looked like it was all business and his charisma didnt show much But after watching him in streams and in content like this hes great
I liked this episode a lot. Brian, I enjoy watching you get a little riled up maybe disagree here and there with iDom it was enjoyable to hear two people giving some unfiltered SF takes, keep it up!
Majority of people in the battle hub are playing versus mode not having avatar battles, people only have avatar battles to get drive tickets so they can purchase colours for free.
Great stuff, I do feel like when Brian says battlehub he means the avatar stuff but idom means people who essentially use it instead of casuals. They are actually playing the main game, just not in ranked. Most of my time is in ranked but there’s some demons in the battlehub
Took me 3 years to save for a PS5 from and couldn’t afford a good PC for that money. I’m so confused how people say you can get a good PC for this price but I’m also ignorant to where I’d even begin if I wanted a comparable gaming PC.
Brian and Idom just don't seem to understand the reason killstep got nerfed was because it was a defensive option and nothing else. Same reason why shadow rise got nerfed. The main theme of SF6 seems to be: "If you have defensive options, then those are getting nerfed".
I wonder when people are gonna realize the characters that are nerfed, are nerfed for a reason. Obviously they are still not knocked out of being characters used in the highest level of tournament play, as proof is all there to see... If your character gets nerfed, maybe it was supposed to?
30:46 False. You can look at the battlehub numbers. There are like 100+ tops on each server, you combine all the populated servers (mostly na and japan), and you have tops 1500 people playing on battlehub on peak hours. On peak hours this game has like 9k players, most people play ranked.
I’m a Legacy fighting game player and I play Marvel Collection (MVC 2 training mode) on break at work or when at a family members place that doesn’t have consoles.
To add to your point of Fighting Grounds being the main game...Avatar battles do happen in the Battlehub, but the majority of battles that happens there is still Ken v Ryu. The difference is its a low stakes setting.
On the point of games on switch, remember that it's a point of entry ! I discovered fighting games when i was a child with sf4 on the Nintendo ds where you could do supers with the touchscreen and now I'm master on SF6 having gone to an offline premier !!! It's a way to get people in
I'm excited for what the characters of the next year or 2 will bring to sf6. I want the costumes, but I am more happy with new playstyles. When it comes to Pokémon, my childhood was the 3ds Pokémon games. I am infinitely more excited for Pokémon legends than the next generation of Pokémon because of how bad scarlet and violet was.
Why this choice of thumbnail now? They used to be so creative. This thumbnail trend strips away all the identity of the channels using it. It took me some time to realize I wasn't being recommended the same channel over and over on my feed and I ignored so many videos 'cause the img looked so cheap and uninteresting.
Fun and creative maybe, but significantly less click through rate and views. Nothing is set and stone and we're trying things as we go as always, but there is a direct correlation with the performance and title/thumbnail choice, so that will be the driving force while staying in the reigns of being what the channel is about. Fact of the matter is, the silent majority votes with their click. Kinda like what we might be seeing with SF6 battle avatar DLC hmmmm...
45:45 quick reminder, that is not dlc in the way we think of dlc, that's a new season, these character are 100% free and the other 2 will also be free and every other single character that comes out will be free. Fighting games are completely stuck in their 150 dollars ways
on the topic of fighting games on the switch. I think its great for having a portable device you can hook up and play locally with folks. joycons are horrible controllers but for casual gaming its chill.not my preferred method of playing local offline but good for on the go.
I have a theory that's entirely conjecture but I reckon a big part of the lack of costumes is determining how to price them. People forget how pissed off everyone was with the initial price being closer to skins in a F2P with no bundle option. iirc it was like $100 to get them all. Again, entirely conjecture here but I think they are struggling to weigh production costs with pricing costs whilst still appeasing their corporate overlords, I think they're just kicking the can down the road as much as they can till A. people forget about it and stop caring or B. they find some internal solution to their production issues. And if avatar outfits are making bank which in all likelihood I'd say they are, it makes it harder to justify to the execs why they should develop costumes that are *more* detailed and more expensive to produce that will ultimately sell less as evidenced by the first pack. Needless to say, they're going about it in a real shitty way that is allowing this frustration in the fanbase to fester.
There's no way they'll be losing money on character costumes. They just make larger profit on avatar cosmetics so that's what they do. It's live service MTX slop that we had to pay full AAA price for the privelege of playing.
If only there was a way to make a live service game in such a way that attracts lots of players and keeps them coming back on new updates... Maybe they could not lock everything behind large paywalls that incentivizes people to go play other games which are free.
World Tour may really be ‘The’ new cash-cow format for Capcom. And if that’ the case, I’m not sure if I’m staying for the Fighting ground to ‘eventually’ catch up. With CotW and 2XKO on the Horizon, Capcom’s going to have to pull out the stops for me to come back. SF6 is undeniably succeeding, but World Tour’s alleged-success has given it an Identity Crisis; with more traditional fighting game players on the losing-side of dlc support.
For the record, when I bough my PS5, the price was about the same as one decent video card It's a good price for me, it's reliable (no issues since the release date), I'm not a streamer so I don't need Twitch or whatever, I don't have to look up specs every time I buy a game, the list goes on Also, as a scrub casual from Europe, the battle hub and world tour can go to hell, I want more costumes too 😃
One thing about the DLC discussion, is that we're not asking for a new concept. Street fighter 4 and Street fighter v both had new costumes. This isn't anything new. We're just asking for the norm. We're just asking for the norm.
TLDR; No way in hell are main roster costumes harder to produce than avatar cosmetics. Edit: **harder, not easier** I honestly can't imagine costumes for the main characters being more difficult to produce than the avatars. Avatar cosmetics have to take the infinite size/scale variety into account for each and every clothing piece. We've all seen the monstrosities walking around in battle hub. Capcom has to take those characters into account when making a new cosmetic for avatars. Main roster skeletons and models are predetermined, meaning costumes should be way easier in my mind. Also, SF games have been including character costumes since SF4, how could it suddenly be "too difficult" to create? I think Brian hit the nail on the head. Avatar cosmetics must be so profitable that main character costumes are on the back burner
Skins are always about maximizing profits. A skin can cost $6 and there's still no way it costs 10% of the cost of an entire game to make that. They never lose money on skins.
Aight, I don't wanna be the Devil's Advocate but maybe one of the reasons there's few content is because there will be a HUGE update in Season 3. This month Street Fighter Prime comes out in comics and will reveal the new villains of the franchise a Stable called VORTEX. Based on what the directors said in an interview, some of them will be added in SF6 world tour and GAMEPLAY. That might take up a lot of development time. But once again, they should communicate with us instead of letting us speculate.
Literally no - if it's from UDON, then it's *definitely* not even within a whiff's distance of being potential canon or considerable legitimate content... This is certain copium kicking in...
The argument against Street Fighter 6 on Switch 2 is nonsense, the Switch 2 will be highly likely more capable then the PS4 so it's pretty obvious to port SF6 on it and you don't have to play it Handheld mode, many people will have this as their only console, so when it can run on it hardware wise, why just not port it on that. The problem with some Switch ports is how ridicously underpowered the Switch is, but it says a lot about it's profitability that WB still tried to cram Mortal Kombat 1 on to it, which doesn't even have a ps4 version. But with the now so often leaked hardware of the Switch 2 there is really no reason for SF6 to not come to the Switch 2, proably even with Crossplay. I would be very surprised if it doesn't make it on to the new Switch.
You guys are crazy if you don't think SF6 is going to be on the Switch 2. Capcom is known to port everything to every platform, we even have SF6 on the PS4.
You know, I wouldn't mind a more lax schedule of "when it's ready" or 1 episode per month. The "premium" episodes are clearly way too high-effort for someone who does fighting games/content creation on the side and not mainly. And with that being said, having iDom as a co-host also works. Although I still think weekly "meta reports" still isn't that sustainable if you're covering mainly one game. iDom is a multi game specialist though, might be able too bring some extra topics for non-SF fighting games too.
World tour in sf6 i thought was ok but i dunno the characters u fight against like the minions so to speak feel like low effort like with characters wearing boxes it just seem ls weird
@NihongoWakannai I don't know how much money they are making on the battle passes if the battle passes are self-sustaining. You just finish the pass, and you get your money back. So a part of me feels like they've already made these passes, and they're just going through with it.
Might as well make iDom official co-host and bring special guests in later I'm all in for it.

I nominate that all Extra Trash fans be called Trash Cans. You heard it here.
I haven't finished the watchalong with Sajam about Japan yet 🙈
I'll come back once I enjoyed my Eds :)
Brian this is the 4th time you’ve brought Idom to class
Thanks 🎉
I actually have like over 100 hours of dbfz on the switch just from practicing while away from home
on the topic of fighting games on the switch.
I thought this was a Formula 1 video for a sec
If avatar DLC keeps SF6 alive, I'm all for it. We know the hardcore FGC crowd can't keep a game alive by itself. There just isn't enough of us.
If they go this direction they should at least make the game F2P. Don't expect us to pay full price just to be served the same MTX slop as F2P games.
fighting games are live service games but the devs treat them like single player ones
Brian Should Pick up Bison so Capcom nerfs him on the next patch
Brian back on JP would heal me
It takes a special kind of human to play avatar battles. Definitely closet something hanging out in battle hub.
Brian underscore F with his co-host I dominate
we dont deserve brian F
For the record, when I bough my PS5, the price was about the same as one decent video card
It's a good price for me, it's reliable (no issues since the release date), I'm not a streamer so I don't need Twitch or whatever, I don't have to look up specs every time I buy a game, the list goes on
Also, as a scrub casual from Europe, the battle hub and world tour can go to hell, I want more costumes too 😃
One thing about the DLC discussion, is that we're not asking for a new concept. Street fighter 4 and Street fighter v both had new costumes. This isn't anything new. We're just asking for the norm. We're just asking for the norm.
TLDR; No way in hell are main roster costumes harder to produce than avatar cosmetics.
Edit: **harder, not easier**
I honestly can't imagine costumes for the main characters being more difficult to produce than the avatars.
Is 'Vortex' made up of existing or new characters?
@@lorcanman they're all new but they've only shown silouhettes. , you can look them up.
That's where my hope's at. If season 3 doesn't come out with a bang, I'll probably play sf6 a lot less frequently this year
Literally no - if it's from UDON, then it's *definitely* not even within a whiff's distance of being potential canon or considerable legitimate content...

I do not want to see any JP gameplay, it was so nice not seeing him for so long haha
I loved brian saying "The Pokemon company" and then both of them correcting it to GameFreak.
Nah the Pokemon Company is actually a real thing lol
🔥🔥🔥 intro
You guys are crazy if you don't think SF6 is going to be on the Switch 2. Capcom is known to port everything to every platform, we even have SF6 on the PS4.

Is iDom the hardest working man in the FGC?
Super nintendo switch bundled with super street fightr 6?
I'd play fighting games on my Switch because I can take it with me on trips to kill bordem.
Skins are pretty much a infinite money glitch. It's a no brainer. We need more costumes.
People keep buying studpidly expensive avatar costumes so they keep making those instead of proper character routfits.
@NihongoWakannai I don't know how much money they are making on the battle passes if the battle passes are self-sustaining. You just finish the pass, and you get your money back. So a part of me feels like they've already made these passes, and they're just going through with it.
Good point about Marvel Rivals, Capcom take notes...
