    1. Combine 1 cup of short grain rice, 1/2 cup of sweet brown rice, 1/2 cup of barley rice, and 2 tbs of black sweet rice
    2. Wash and drain a couple of times and put it in a pot with a thick bottom
    3. Pour 2 1/2 cups of water into the pot and soak it for a few hours.
    4. Bring the pot to a boil over medium heat for 10 minutes.
    5. Open the lid and turn the rice over with a rice scoop or spoon.
    6. Simmer it over low heat for another 10 minutes!

Oh no, Maangchi! The best part is the head! I know many people don't like to look at it, but the head meat has the most flavor, in my opinion. Yum, I can't wait to this, especially the cucumber soup. Thanks, Maangchi!

Hey i made this yesterday (the broiler version) - I was a little apprehensive at fist because of the cooking time, and because mackerel can be so dry - but it worked out perfectly! My partner and I gobbled the whole fish!!! Accompanied by your radish salad!
Thanks for the recipes! Thanks to you, Hmart has acquired a new customer in me... They owe you a commission ;)

I LOVE fish!!! The best thing about living in Japan, Korea and places like Florida any place close to water, you get seafood for cheap! When I lived in florida we ate crab meat like King crab almost everyday. We lived next to a beach where they caught seafood farther off. There was a shack that sold seafood caught fresh from that beach and man, I'd go every day and get some crab, fish or edible plants. So good and got me hooked on seafood. I really wanna try your crab recipe, I have never eaten it like that but I will save it for when I move to Japan as a house warming meal and also as a graduation food for when my family visits. :D

Hi! I am wondering if we need to specify a "type" of mackerel. I ordered mackerel from my fish market in the midwest and we learned it isn't the kind of fish that is used in Korea...different ocean or something? Can you offer some advice? Thank you so much! BTW - I have had so much fun incorporating your recipes into my cooking. You are a delight to watch and I thank you for inspiring me to try so many new and yummy dishes!!

Not to worry about disgusting Mangchii, me and my family fish mackerel from the ocean every year, I am quite used to fish guts and such. Normally however, when you fish this you throw those disgusting things back to the sea. The seagulls go crazy over them.
But how bony is it? The ones we fish have bones practically everywhere, I usually swallow 5 bones every time we eat them. (Doesn't matter though, it's such a tasty fish).
