Can You Name a Book?

- Americans have been holed up at home for almost a year now and it made us wonder how much of that time they spent reading. So we went on the street and conducted an unscientific survey. We asked people passing by our studio to name a book, any book, and this is how that went.

A moment of silence for all those who didn't make it to this video because they answered correctly.
Lol true
Those who didn't make it are those with no time to waste
I'd start to annoy the interviewer. I'd just start firing off names characters places
Those who actually read books are not to be found walking around on Hollywood Blvd in the middle of the day.
Donald Trump once bragged to Mark Bowden, the author of "Black Hawk Down," that he had never read a book in his life (reading is for losers).
I looked it up. There is a book called I Love Food, and it is about food. How rude to not give him that point
Yep, found it on Amazon. The book does exist.
That’s an easy cop out though 😂
My boyfriend and I were stopped for this. I gave a full on answer and obviously didn’t make the cut. My bf was the fourth person. 😂😂
I- 😳 Congratulations to both of you? 🤔😂 I guess opposites really do attract

Comic book.. Is a book..
EXACTLY
Yes
That’s a controversial topic in some schools and all around the world but I consider it a book .
English teacher here. It’s a book.
Exactly..
They can't name a single book!? That can't be real.
Now ask any single team name or a movie or a 'reality' show.
I can't name a book 🥺
oh wait bible
Even if you don't read books your passive knowledge should include at least a couple dozen books. It's possible to black out though, when being put on the spot and asked to name them.
After the survey "Name a country. ANY country" I absolutely believe this is real.
The correct answer to "can you name a book?" is "Yes" or "No"!
And when the question "For example?" follows, you'll be like them, I wager...
Can you name a book?
Yes
Will you name a book?
Yes
....Could you name a book for us?
Yes I could.
Can you tell us the name of a specific book you read and tell us the name right now?
Yea I can do that right now........
..........
.........
.......
@@MTKRAILROAD Tell us the name of a book you've read recently.
😂
@@sergeyignateskorocks Yes.
Interesting that Fahrenheit 451 was half remembered. A book about a world devoid of books.
IKR, gotta love the irony. 😂
Jimmy you know damn well that you didn’t include the people who answered the question correctly.
And? They'd not trying to hide that and that's not the point
Yeah they had to show them too
@@StrawberryLegacy he wanted to show us that NOONE can read a single book .
It’s not funny if they’re right , and not worth anyones 10:30 pm time

“Why I Am Not A Christian” by Bertrand Russell. It blew my mind at age 16 when I read it in the library.

"Him: I Love Food"
"Her: is that a book"
"Him: Yes"
"Her: What is it about"
"Him: Food"
there are a lot of books called "i love food" so why did that guy get a buzzer?
Cause Kinmel's research team and editors probably can't name books either.
There ARE a lot of books..... or THERE'S a lot of books.... It's not there IS a lot of books.
I think they were specifically asking after _novels,_ which would discount "I Love Food" since it's a cookbook. Though, admittedly, they didn't actually _say_ they meant novels.
@@rdevries3852 actually when i looked it up it looks like a 48 page picture book. Not a cookbook. So it would count as a book under the. "Children's literature" category.
@@hayleyam28 Than we were looking at different books, because the one I found is very definitely a 240 page cookbook.
I have a whole shelf of books I bought to read 'when I have time', and they've really paid off during the pandemic... as very nice Zoom background.
Please tell me this is a joke. If U meant it as a joke its funny but it's hard to tell.
I have a bookself in my living room of the books I read the most and its like the leaning tower of Piza right now and ready to fall because I have over stuffed it. I also have other books scattered around the house. Im kind of a book hoarder even though I've given away at least 60 to the library (who didn't really want them because they said people dont like to read physical books anymore).

That survey went exactly as expected, but to actually see it Happen is still shocking.
They don't put in people who got it right because that wouldn't be shocking.
So many people in the comments are shocked like you
MTK is correct. They interview 100 people and 92 people give you the name of a book. And the 8 people, who are too stupid to say something like 'the dictionary', or 'the Bible', because THAT book lives on their grandmother's coffee table, they show those people on TV.

How do they LIVE WITHOUT READING I JUS--... CANT LIKE WHAAATTT😥I M TERRIFIED
Honeslty, i can see why people do not read that often anymore. When most information is spoonfed to you, why even bother specializing in a topic? Or why read for entertainment if there are plenty more options which give you hell of a lot more dopamine? I view it as an unfortunate development for the future, but you cannot really force people to read books.

This can’t be real 😂😂 (and yes graphic novels do count as a book)
Graphic novels do but comic books don't

Can you name a book? Just name basically almost any movie! lol.
Someone tried that. It didn’t work because he wasn’t sure if it really was a book. You have to actually know or you will be found out.
This is so embarrasing
It shouldn't be embarrassing for YOU. They interviewed 80 other people who easily named a book and then left. They only show the people who couldn't name a single book. For Pete's sakes the dictionary is a book. They don't have to name a recent popular novel, but I think those people thought that's what was expected. --- The handful of people who couldn't name a single book might be embarrassed, but those people are no reflection on you or on anything else for that matter.
@@kathleenr4047 it’s called vicarious embarrassment or second hand embarrassment. It’s normal for people to feel that way, regardless of how many people knew titles of books, these are the ones who couldn’t name any. Not one. So, it’s cringy to watch since we can easily put ourselves in other’s shoes. That is unless you happen to be an abnormal person.
@@terimkel3 No it's not my place to be embarrassed for people who are of lesser intelligence. That's something they can't help. There are people of lesser intelligence all across the world. There are people of average intelligence, and there are people of exceptional intelligence, everywhere. I'm not vicariously embarrassed of people who are not quite as smart as the average bear. They just were not blessed with any more intelligence than they have, nor were they inspired (seemingly) to try to improve their knowledge, and that last fact just seems like a missed opportunity to me. Unfortunate yes, but why would I be embarrassed by HIS lack of interest in reading?
@@terimkel3 I guess you really meant "I'm so embarrassed *for him."* --- I was simply responding to what you said, "This is so embarrassing." And apparently that's not what you meant.
It is one of the most easiest questions LOL

This is sad 😔 I read 40 books in 2020 alone!
I don't read quite that much anymore; I just simply don't have the time. I used to be an extremely voracious reader in the past though. Especially during my childhood and teenage years, I'd read 6, 7, 8 books a week. If the books weren't too long, it could be even more. And during weekends or breaks, when I had all day available to read, I might read multiple books a day. Sometimes I really wonder where all my free time went, because these days I find myself having a hard time finding the hours of the day to read even just _one_ book. 😅😔
@R de Vries, then try audiobooks. Great for your way to work. I like it a lot, and so I can still enjoy my hobby.
@@MrsNanaBlue I drive to work though. And if I'm paying enough attention to an audiobook to follow the story, I'm _not_ paying enough attention to the road.
A comic book is a book. Novels are books too
Reading teaches you how to spell. Now I know why the spelling in the yt comments is generally so appalling. It really hurts my eyes!
Reading is also great for grammar.
How about this classic : rich dad and poor dad by Robert.T kiyosaki
