There are only two types of people that will say they are stupid. People that really are stupid but aren't insecure about it, and those that aren't but try to be humble to avoid coming across as superior or pompous. Most truly stupid people are insecure though, and the more they become insistent or offended by the accusation, the more likely it is they know they are.

Not only do smart people do stupid things sometimes, but they also cannot know everything, so they can be stupid when it comes to some things and not others. For instance, I know multivariate regression algorithms, but I do not know anything about cars. Someone else might think I am dumb for not knowing something simple about cars, while someone else thinks that I'm smart for knowing advanced mathematics. Which one is right? Aren't they both right? If a brilliant physicist absent-mindedly puts his car keys in the freezer and his ice cream in the key bowl, would that not be a smart person doing something stupid? Basically, if you know enough smart people, you will realize that they are still human, and therefore capable of being stupid at times. The greatest minds in history also had their blind spots; Isaac Newton, Aristotle, Einstein- they all had stupid/crazy ideas/beliefs. Even though they were right about certain things (smart), they were completely wrong about other things (dumb). There are also "idiot-savant" types, who generally are ignorant/dumb, but have a very specialized field in which they shine; thus, a case of a stupid person being smart in one respect. In short, smart people can be stupid at times, and stupid people can be smart at times.

Trust me, my former colleagues rocked sweatshirts from other colleges including Harvard University. Any college merchandise is easy to get because the bookstore is also open to the public. I have a Temple University shirt when I took a trip there and my sister, mother, grandma, niece, and younger cousin rock my college shirt and pants.

If I was asked "Are you stupid" than i would reply with compared to what? If the answer was compared to the general public of an earlier time period, I would say No. If It was with our current population than I would say "No but I don't think I'm smart either." Just average intelligence.
The study that was conducted was only studying men enlisting in the military in Norway. I think in some ways humanity is becoming less intelligent becuase our lack of need for certain processes which technology does better. However, overall I think humanity is, and will continue to grow smarter.

its inaccurate to assume the intention of the allotted judgement time is to judge them based on looks, there are clues from ones appearance that might give a suggestion as to how they might answer and you are again wrong by assuming that theyre taking these guessing with any seriousness. Its just a guess. He's wearing a harvard sweatshirt? He might pride value institutional knowledge and call himself smart in the interview. Its a guess and it has some grounds. Its not prejudgement, its judgement and its fine.

If there was a college or university course on my city I'd love to have done it. I could have used that "qualification" (if there is one) to become a tourist guide or a local historian.
People are constantly bad mouthing my city in England, and most don't even realise we're the 7th biggest city in the UK (formerly 6th biggest until 2015), the world's 1st UNESCO City of Film, the record Curry Capital of Britain Winners, and the birthplace for two of the worlds biggest tea brands, among other things.
There's lot's of things I know about my city that most people don't, which is why I'm eventually going to create a blog in a few years celebrating all the good things, and maybe one day write a book listing all the famous films, TV shows, film locations, actors, directors, producers, screenwriters, authors, singers, rappers, musicians, inventors, scientists, politicians, TV presenters, businessmen, buildings, statues, companies etc to have come out of my city.

You only have 10 seconds after seeing a person before an impression is made. That impression is the foundation of whether or not you like that person, and its very hard to change. So yes, while it is very shallow to judge intelligence of their appearance, it isn't a far stretch because that's how our brains work.
