Aww I feel bad for her. Imagine seeing yourself on tv and hearing them completely make fun of your answer that won you one of the best beauty pageants in the world.
What part of her answer helped her win, and what did her winning prove? If proving you are a desirable "little lady" by standards that were stupid and unrealistic even in the 60s is what your goal is, then yes, she won.

So she probably won because it was "most sensible" answer among the contestants with the most consecutive and continuous words, and she had the best delivery. And it kind of makes sense that judges of a "beauty" contest would value style over substance in their evaluation.
Honestly, I doubt they care really about the words as long she doesn't "offend" or give a "politically incorrect" answer (which is probably also part of the test). They want the most fluent, consistent, "graceful" answer that is not politically correct and doesn't offend anyone in under 20 seconds... With those demands, mostly likely you will get a pretty nonsensical answer.

Well, that is quite a stupid question to ask on a beauty pageant and she actually answered it well under all the pressure and in 20 seconds... At first, she says she wouldn't know because she wasn't there which gives her some time to think and then she says that if it was questioned in the first place something must've been wrong. She didn't stutter that much either. Like c'mon :\
Just because something is questioned doesn't mean it's wrong... She went from "IDK I'd have to be there" to "I definitely think he cheated " . How can you even consider this to be a great answer

@@kailashshankertiwari9034 She never said that he definitely cheated, she said that she would have had to check if the ball was deflated or not, but given the prerequisite that he was judged as guilty you can say even from an outsiders perspective that it is more likely that the ball was indeed deflated and in that case it would count as cheating in her eyes.
The only reassuring thing about her response is that she didn't say "like" as though it isn't a simile, or "c'mon" as though it's persuasive.

I like the “let professionals decide” as an answer. Shows you’re not biased based on him. You could say “my opinion is that there was some kind of shadiness around the events of that whole situation, but honestly I believe it’s for professionals of the sport to decide.” You answer, poised , and recognize that you’re not the expert (presumably) in that field

@@GhostCastle88 exactly. Especially since they said "legalities aside" that leaves me with nothing because I know none of the details and don't have enough facts to form an opinion on it. For the sake of the question and its place in the contest, I would have wanted to at least take a side, but there's just not enough for me to come to a conclusion.
I think that what they were looking fow was a sophisticated answer whether you are knowledgable of the topic or not. If you do not know anything about it or as with the Tom Brady question it's all about opinion, you can explain any answer. They might be tough to answer sometimes but that's probably why these type of questions are asked in the competition then again it's a Miss USA competition like aren't ypu expecting too much from the contestants :)
If you think about it, its pretty unfair and almost impossible to properly answer they type of questions they're asked. They get question that could support entire debates and they're expected to answer them thoroughly in 15-20 SECONDS. How is that even fair?!?!
These questions were fairly easy, the people arent expect to give full answers and give a whole speech, they just had to say something and back it up.... Which most of them didnt even attempt *-* my answers would be 1) Susan B Anthony, 2) innocent until proven guilty, 3) America is still racists 😒. Now was that hard? All i have to do now is give a reason to back up my answers. If you seriously think these questions are unfair, you clearly need to go back to school... Im worried about you

Answer made no sense whatsoever. Just because people got suspicious of something doesn't mean it actually happened. You need evidence to call someone guilty.
bunderbah that is what she actually said and what got muddled in the rushed answer. Her first part is saying "She needs to be there to check if the ball feels deflated.", her second part is saying "If there is a question about that - the ball being deflated - then she thinks it is cheating." So in essence she is saying she did not see any evidence so she would have had to been there and then just said that she considered a deflated ball cheating.
It is just said in an awkward way but does make plenty of sense.

I thought she was pretty coherent when she answered that question. Sometimes when we're speaking in public, our nerves can get the better of us. I thought she answered that question pretty well all sexual jokes aside.
Brian Cheng It definitely wasn't a great answer but considering it was such a difficult and vague question that she had 20 seconds to answer, kudos to her. I have no idea how somebody would be able to answer that question, let alone in 20 seconds.

And in her defense, 20 seconds is not a lot of time. That short of a time limit on a random topic isn't really fair for the contestants, but it sometimes seems that the show is purposely designed to humiliate them a little, for entertainment.
She did fairly well with answering under pressure, but the answer itself was a catastrophe. It's “innocent until proven guilty“ for a reason. Good that they didn't ask her if someone should have gotten a death sentence... just imagine...

I don’t like that Jimmy Kimmel seems to be always making fun of someone. These women train EXTREMELY hard for their position. I watched a video of Michelle Kare training like one of these girls for a pageant. She took us through what it was like to eat their diet and train in the gym. They’re extremely anxious about the dreaded questions because the way people like jimmy kimmel expose them when they have no clue what they’re talking about. I think it’s normal to not know everything. The people making fun of them wouldn’t do that great either. Imagine in front of all of those people, and then you are put on the spot and trying to make an impression? Too much pressure

I get what you're saying but he's a comedian, and comedy is one of the last places where people can truly exercise free speech without being criticized as much for it. The girl talking about Tom Brady made perfect sense.... she's stating that if people had to question whether or not the balls were properly inflated then they probably weren't. If the balls were properly inflated nobody would've questioned it, right? she's making the case that because people were question whether or not they were inflated, they probably weren't inflated properly hence why people were questioning if he cheated or not.

They make fun about her, because she said, that she would have neede´t to touch the ball to know. To be honest, i think both answers could be counted as correct, but not at the same time and from the same person. They contradict each other. If she would have said, that she would have needed to touch the ball, but as this isn´t possible she will go with an educated guess and therefor she believes he cheated that would have been the smart answer

The answer is open and not concrete however I believe the most sensible option would be Eliza Hamilton a key representation of women empowerment who fought against slavery and collected story’s about founding fathers and made sure they where not just names lost in history

I feel like my answer to that football question would be something along the lines of "I don't know, because I don't know anything about football. I didn't even think deflating would be helpful. So I think this question is something I can't help you with, cupcake. And why just this one guy? Did he bring an inflating needle with him? Where'd he get it? There's too little information for me to make an accurate assessment."

Kevin Hemmer That's nice, but could you go into detail about all of that rather than just saying it? I never, NEVER said I thought he did it. I don't know enough to say "yep, he did it". I asked "why are we targeting this one guy" and then asked some questions about proof. Did he have an inflating needle on him? If he did, where did he get it? Then I also said- get this- I don't have enough information for me to make an accurate assessment. That means I don't have enough evidence to say if I think he did it or not. I also don't even have information for why deflating would or wouldn't be helpful.
