He was meant to be a corruption of a kids show character, but for some reason when he first appeared on air, actual kids loved him and he became the really successful being the opposite of what he was intended to be.

As an American, this is the best British television has ever created, and you guys have created some great stuff. I just wonder if Mr. Blobby was already gonna be there and Jack just happened to mention it or, because it's a long taping, they called up whoever runs that character and then put him into the program to mess with Jack. Both are completely plausible but the second one is infinitely funnier.

I saw this for the first time about a year ago. As a Canadian, I was not familiar with Noel's House Party of Mr Blobby. My initial response was one of disbelief. Did I actually just watch that? How could one dude in a... whatever the hell that is... be so terrifying? I have to say that I 100% am with Jack on this one!

We were never meant to take Blobby seriously; he was always just a clown character performed by a funny, clever actor. This clip is superb - one of the best Blobby performances and one would like to think that it's Barry Killerby in there. This performer is pretty quick, agile and nimble - well-used to the costume and to the spatial limitations. Does that really suggest Joe Wilkinson? Even though Blobby is very different (and much funnier) here to what he was in the 1990s - he never talked - it's our Barry in that suit during this clip. Unless somebody can prove otherwise, beyond doubt.
Another actor is playing Mr Blobby now.

Man this character is so iconic. I remember him on Noel’s House Party, his standalone program, and his Xmas No. 1. He’s as funny in this as I remember him being back in the day. His movement, language, and mannerisms are so iconic and are all used so effectively. What a hero.
