Each verse is a specific arrangement. More amazing is that the Chorus is sung 6 times and each of the 6 is a different arrangement than the other 5.

You nailed the reaction. And to really be blown away, PTX's live performances of this song is a must listen to. Talk about chills!! Welcome to PTX & their rabbit hole!
Great "Mitch Slap" moment welcome to the rabbit hole, great reaction to the video also. Pentatonix fans love to see the reactions to people new to Pentatonix, reminds them of the first time they heard the group.
If you have any doubts about their ability to perform this as it sounds, check out their live performance of this song on their televised Christmas Special. It sounds nearly identical to this, except that they are all mic's so you can hear each group member more clearly. Amazing!
I love your genuine reactions and love for music in these two videos! And I LOVE that your wife set you up for this while you innocently thought you were just making her happy listening to a song you like. 🤣 So many just react to Pentatonix for the views, but reactions like yours are the best. Thanks for the dopamine! 😉
When Avi is singing in the beginning, Scott is doing the bass. You should watch this song from their Christmas TV Special about 5 yrs ago. You can see him doing bass.
The first time I heard this version from Pentatonix, I cried like a baby 😢😊It's always been a favourite song of mine, but I've NEVER been so moved by it........ I'm so glad to see it causes that reaction in many others ❤
Great reaction! This song is recommended because it shows all the group members singing individually (except Kevin). And because it's beautiful. I really think you would enjoy Avi's solo music. It's very different from PTX but so good. Change on the Rise is a great place to start! Cheers!
Love your reaction 👍 they're amazing 😍 there are so many other mind blowing songs... Gold by Kiara, more intime and live ! wonderful 😍 don't forget to check their originals. Popspring Special 2016 is 3 original songs and one medley, 15 minutes of joy, and they're live in Japan ! Hope to see you react to more of them and also Avi's solo work, he's a genius with the most beautiful voice, range ... Everything 😍 thanks 😘
The first time I listened to Pentatonix was when my daughters were listening to them and I was hooked. They were amazing then and still amazing now. I miss Avi but they found a treasure with the new one and he is amazing also. I love Pentatonix! My daughters were in their early teens when they first heard them and went crazy over them and I am now 73 and still love them. Their harmony is beautiful and I love listening to them. One of these days I am going to order some of there albums or tapes so I can listen to them all I want. They sing beautifully and I lave to just sit and listen. You are in for a treat. They have my gratitude for making such beautiful harmony and I thank them for such beautiful music.
Amen to that! I have recorded a few reactions that still need to be made into a video as I just couldn't stop listen and discover new Pentatonix songs. In one of them I mentioned that I just want to hug each and every one for the joy they bring to me in some of my darker days. It is a special gift that was bestowed upon them and I am glad they recognised it as such! Stay strong and keep the musical heart alive! I hope to see your comments for a long time to come :)
I enjoy watching people reacting to the Pentatonix because I get to see a new fan born by the end of their song. This is the first song that f theirs that I watched and till today it is still my favourite. Welcome to the club. 😀👍
I will 2nd, 3rd and 4th all the suggestions to watch Avi's solo music! Change on the Rise is a must, and to really experience Avi's beautiful lower register check out Black is the Color of my True Loves Hair with Peter Hollens. As for PTX Christmas music most of us listen to it all year long it is that good.
I'm in my 70s and I've been watching the series, Merlin again. fabulous you'd love it. Now in Merlin, there is a cave and he is informed this is where Magic began. To me, when Pentatonix came out that line came into Mt head... this is where the magic began.
You should check out Avi solo, he really shines there! Change on the rise is a good place to start but really everything he’s done is great. If (hopefully when) you listen to him it’s good to know that his voice is the only one you’ll hear, he does the harmonies and everything. Yes, he’s a fantastic bass but he’s got a huge range.
Nice Mitch-slap! Five singers, five distinctive voices that blend to make intoxicating harmonies. Kevin sings as well, although there's no beatboxing when he's singing, so they save it as a secret weapon. Edit: subscribed for more Pentatonix!
This is my favorite version of this song by far and away. They capture the emotions that I think so many artists miss in their covers. I cry almost every time. Also, if you liked this one, you HAVE to listen to their cover of Sound of Silence. That's another one that touches the heart.
Maybe I'm not the first one but you need to listen to that song in a live version. You'll notice that while (here) Avi takes the lead Scott actually goes back and takes over the bass line its really incredible to see live
This is one of their very best. When you check out the Christmas music, The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy won them a Grammy! Orchestrational music by an acapella group won a Grammy.
Had to chuckle a little with your story about your wife. If she's been a fan of Pentatonix for a while, and has ever seen a reaction to them on UA-cam, they she knew full well that "if you react to them, the Pentaholics will come!" She would have just been waiting for the flood of comments and subscriptions to arrive! On your Mitch-slap: while Mitch is stretching himself in this song, he's certainly not straining (I'm not sure I've ever even seen him straining to hit a note), and he's got plenty more where those notes came from. You already mentioned Daft Punk, which I would highly recommend. It's about as different from Hallelujah as you can get, and it won Pentatonix (aka PTX) their first of 3 Grammy awards. One video that might not catch your eye but I think you'd probably enjoy is the live version of Hallelujah they did on their 2016 Christmas TV special. It's got one sequence that's especially interesting: when Avi starts his solo verse, you can clearly see Scott behind him picking up the bass line that's impossible to see in the official video, because they never show a closeup of Scott while Avi is singing his solo. Since the video is cut from a TV special, the audio and video quality are quite good, and it was filmed in front of a live audience, so you can get some of the feel for their live performances. Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole!
Even if people listen in their own time.. of any artist/sing, they're is but one MUST experience imho. This is definitely top of the list, but.." Aha!Singapore, Star Vista" is IT. I listened to the official cover release first to hear intricacies, lyrics etc... then, when i thought it couldn't get better, the fan shot live. Despite its distorted mic that couldn't handle Avi's bass, the inhuman beatboxing, their insane choral intro.. mitch, mitch, mitch & then Avi. The timing & crazy syncopation arrangement.. emotional roller coaster & just mind-blowing. Prepare for full body chills!!!!!! Its the best thing I've EVER heard vocally! By far!
That was hilarious how you opened with how shocked you were by us Pentaholics coming out of the woodwork- but that’s just how we roll. Once you start doing PTX reactions, we’re more than happy to support both you and your channel. Peace! 🤘🏾
Ok, if you want more Mitch wtf moments, you want The Prayer (a newer one, with Matt Sallee as the bass). I agree Avi's solo work is great as well, and I do miss him but I also love Matt's warm rich tone and sheer joy. I do also think their Daft Punk medley will blow your freaking mind though.
Even as Norse Pagans, we still remember our past lives, growing up i was in a Church Choir as well and Hallelujah was my all time favorite to sing too. People always ask why i left the Church and its because i became very lost and the Allfather found me and gave me purpose in life again. Skál
New subscriber here…UA-cam does a good job of alerting us Pentaholics when new reactors pop up. PTX won their first Grammy for their mashup of Daft Punk songs. You mentioned you saw ‘a few’ Christmas songs on their list…I think it’s 7 albums worth so plan to start those early next November. Welcome to the rabbit hole! Edited to add, if you’re looking to be uplifted, there’s Amazing Grace and The Prayer. I’ve heard both of those a hundred times or more and they still bring me to tears.
Great reaction, I loved the genuine enjoyment that you shared in this reaction. Pentatonix is awesome of course but Avi is absolutely amazing. You should look into his solo work." Change on the Rise", "I'm only getting started", "When I'm a fool" and "First place I go" are too amazing to miss.
I love that you have the volume turned up. Way too many reviewers play the videos with such low volume that it's a struggle to hear. With yours, Avi's bass radiated down my spine, and Kirstie & Mitch blew my ears off. Keep up this great work. Suggestions for next songs to review (first with Avi still in the group_ - 1) Daft Punk Medley, (Grammy award) 2) Radioactive (with Lindsey Sterling), 3) Wizard of Aahhs (with Todrick Hall), 4) Say Something, 5) Imagine 6) Run To You (Original). Matt Sallee took over bass when Avi left the group (amicably, to spend more family time and pursue a solo career). His first song with PTX was "Sound of Silence". Others to review - 1) Amazing Grace/My Chains Are Gone, 2) Come Along, 3) When the Party's Over, 4) Havana, 5) Coffee in Bed (Original), 6) Can You Feel the Love Tonight, 7) Shallow, 8) Be My Eyes (Kirstie Original), 9) Thank You (Scott Original, 10) The Prayer. Their song list is close to 300, so there are many more to keep you busy for quite some time. Every cover is an UPGRADE!
Took me a bit to get it right. I still put a lot of effort in making sure the audio of both me, the band and all the background sounds match and don’t overshadow one another. I’m very happy to see this being noticed and appreciated :)
Mitch is truly amazing. All of them are amazing, but Mitch is another monster entirely. I recommend checking out.. I think it's called Gold(Kiiara cover)? And the level of coordination and control of each member is astounding.
When I first heard this rendition, I cried so hard and had to rub my legs, arms and scalp from all of the chill bumps. Since then, I watch reactors such as yourself, react and see them in wonder and awe. When I see this in the reactor, I get all of the emotions again. You made me cry again and I am grateful. That is why I love reactions. The only song from them I WILL NOT listen to is the Little Drummer Boy. I have just completed my ninth year of winning the not hearing TLDB contest. So, if there’s a chance of hearing it, I will flee!
I love watching reactions to Pentatonix. Yes I watched you because of them. We really do watch everyone we see. I loved your reaction. Your wife knew what she was talking about lol
Yes! The harmonics these individuals create together is just 🤌🏻❤❤❤❤❤❤ You just fall in to ecstasy with Pentatonix! I am really enjoying your reaction to their vocals and everything!
I think you'd really like their cover of Tears for Fears "Mad World". ua-cam.com/video/Md8kADJwMQ0/v-deo.html It' haunting and atmospheric. Another rare one is the sad ballad "My Heart with You" a cover from The Rescues. ua-cam.com/video/4Eo2_vkVTU0/v-deo.html It's a real tear jerker. Like Mad World, it features all five members singing with no beatboxing. Finally, you might like their original EDM song (with no E) "Love Again". ua-cam.com/video/F80FsZDTgn0/v-deo.html

Newer Pop/Rock: Radioactive, Havana, Say Something, Shallow, Cheerleader, Perfect, Attention, Despacito EDM: Daft Punk medley, Love Again Classical Crossover: The Prayer Originals : Run To You, Sing!, Cracked French: Papaoutai Japanese: Perfume Medley, Pretender Fantasy: Come Along, Can You Feel The Love Tonight Christmas/Traditional: Amazing Grace, Mary Did You Know, Dance Of The Sugar Plum Fairy, 12 Days Of Christmas, My Favorite Things, Over The River, and so much more. There are 5 or 6 Christmas albums. No Video: When You Wish Upon A Star, Over The Rainbow
Loving your reactions. Found you through PTX reactions but your usual fare is close to my main preference so I'm going down a Viking / Nightwish rabbit hole right now! Suggestion for you #suggestion I recently dipped into PTX original stuff for the first time and I've been blown away - can't recommend "Love Again" strongly enough, would love to see your reaction to it!
I was very impressed! I've heard this so many times I can't count. Your reaction was a breath of fresh air. Your intro mentioned you had heard another piece before this one, so I went to your page and saw what it was. Big surprise! LOL! So, I watched your Bohemian Rhapsody before this. I knew coming in that you are more than "just" a metalhead... you appreciate musical excellence in many forms. SO... seeing how much you appreciated this version of Hallelujah made me happy. After this reaction, I looked back on your page because I'm a fledgling metalhead (still green behind my bleeding ears). I noticed you had reacted to Floor Jansen singing a solo version of Shallow. I listened to that. She was excellent, as was your reaction and comments. As you look more deeply into Pentatonix, you should check out the Pentatonix's version of Shallow. You can "compare and contrast" two really good covers (we Pentaholics prefer to call their covers 'upgrades') of that song. The PTX version allows Kirsten to shine, and holds another surprise for you as well. Sorry, no spoilers!! 😉 Again, great reaction... glad to have you starting the VERY rewarding a cappella journey! In time, I'm sure the journey will include Home Free, Voice Play, and Voctave as well. A cappella is a VERY deep rabbit hole!!! I'm a new subscriber AND like #1.1K +1
This may be my favorite comment yet… You seem to have grasped who I am and what I enjoy pretty fast. Your compliments humble me and I thank you for them!
@@VikingReacts I am pretty stingy with my compliments. I don't just flood everything with "Ooohh, that's so WONDERFUL." I am also occasionally critical. I try to be objective. For example, you will see a lot of people insist that these a cappella groups sound as good in person as they do in the studio. THat simply isn't possible. Even if they hit every single note of every single song perfectly, it still won't sound as good as a studio version. The acoustics, the mic mixing, the background noise... and other factors make live performances a cut below (from a purely objective musical sound standpoint). What live performances DO provide (that we can't get from the studio) is the 'feel.' The adrenaline, the excitement, the spontaneity. I was at a jazz fest once, and I saw Kenny G. on the schedule. I almost passed, as I considered him 'elevator music.' Man, that live performance just SIZZLED. Totally different live. Anyway, keep reacting to all kinds of great music... ANY genre. Be well!
The first time I saw this song was when I saw the video of them doing it on one of their live Christmas shows and I sat there stunned and covered in goosebumps
It’s a bit like watching someone fall in love when reacting to this song! It’s so incredibly powerful and “glorious” is a great word! Thank you for your reaction!
You got another Pentaholic subscribing! Yours was a most excellent reaction! I feel the same way about music as you do. I feel it deeply. Emotionally and physically. I can't wait for more. I don't think you'll ever be disappointed. Another tearjerker is "The Prayer" It always leaves me in a puddle of tears and shivers. Glad I found you.
Subscribed for your Pentatonix reactions. Each and every member is so talented, and together they equal more than the sum of their parts. They tour extensively and only release songs that they can do live on stage. Impressive, especially after you watch Daft Punk Medley for which they won their first Grammy.
Welcome to the party! I'd suggest the Prayer (for that "divine" sense you mention), Daft Punk (for hearing the bass, beatboxing, and electronic music to the utmost!), and Imagine (for the Beatle fan inside!)
FYI - MUCH MORE MUSICAL GENIUS TO BE FOUND HERE: Superfruit - they are Mitch and Scott from PENTATONIX AVI Kaplan - first bass of PENTATONIX, solo work (as a Viking you MUST hear him perform Change on the Rise or you cannot enter Valhalla!) Kirsty Maldonado - from PENTATONIX, solo work Kevin Olusola - from PENTATONIX, plays cello, beat-boxes, tenor, producer etc., solo work HOME FREE - 5 member acapella group (fans are HOME FRIES) Tim Faust - from HOME FREE but doing his own thing (range is bass to falsetto), solo work Austin Brown - from HOME FREE, high tenor, solo work VOICEPLAY - 5 member acapella group Jeff Castellucci - from VOICEPLAY, true basso profundo to falsetto he can do it all, solo work DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN - Not acapella - Many say that this young man is the best singer in the world. I will say this: I have never heard a better singer and I probably never will. I suggest you react to S.O.S. and Sinful Passion first. Do not wear your favorite socks when you listen! Take this journey for yourself but let us enjoy it with you. This music and these artists are magical. Every member of these groups are lovely, caring people and it shows in their spectacular talent. I have been walking this path for two years now. I am 68 and I lived through the musical magic that was the 1960's and 70's. This music was worth staying above ground to hear. Be well, sir, Duke, an old retired vet living in Crazyland...FLORIDA USA!

I love your genuine reactions and love for music in these two videos! And I LOVE that your wife set you up for this while you innocently thought you were just making her happy listening to a song you like. 🤣
So many just react to Pentatonix for the views, but reactions like yours are the best.
Thanks for the dopamine! 😉
I’ve heard this version at least 100 times and I still get goosebumps! You are a joy to watch.
When Avi is singing in the beginning, Scott is doing the bass. You should watch this song from their Christmas TV Special about 5 yrs ago. You can see him doing bass.
I’ve heard this version at least 100 times and I still get goosebumps!
Cheers!
Beautiful version, and those harmonies…. just amazing 😀
Glad to see some of the established vikings watching this as well :). And I agree!
And if you ever doubt this performance. Watch it live. I cry every time.
Love this song by them.❤
I'm in my 70s and I've been watching the series, Merlin again. fabulous you'd love it. Now in Merlin, there is a cave and he is informed this is where Magic began.
To me, when Pentatonix came out that line came into Mt head... this is where the magic began.
I have watched Merlin a few times. The young warlock who never seems to want to listen to that damn dragon ;)
This song has some deep personal meaning and every time I hear PTX's version I can't help but cry.
Aha! Live Singapore the starvista... you're ready!
Goosebumps always mean the music is touching something
I warned you about the Pentaholics... 🤣
I'm glad to take this journey with you.
"If you build it, they will come!!!!! If you love PTX, you are one of us.
Maybe I'm not the first one but you need to listen to that song in a live version. You'll notice that while (here) Avi takes the lead Scott actually goes back and takes over the bass line its really incredible to see live
Sound of silence is the best!
Coming soon... but Amazing Grace first as I recorded that yesterday :P
This is one of their very best.
When you check out the Christmas music, The Dance of the Sugar Plum Fairy won them a Grammy! Orchestrational music by an acapella group won a Grammy.
Recommend their Sound Of Silence. It has their current bass, Matt.
😂😂😂
Welcome to the PTX rabbit hole. We love our reaction videos and seeing new comers fall in love with them.
Falling in love...achieved :P
Surprise!!! It's us, Pentaholics! Love your reactions, and you're not the only one they bring to tears.
This is an awesome version, and when Avi and Mich come in BOOOOOM my heart is pumping so fast. 💞💞💞💞💞💞
How I love watching people react to these amazing voices. God almighty the talent. I weep listening to them.
Kevin sings, beatboxes, does effects,, & plays cello. I forgot he also writes songs.
By far!
Really wonderful reaction!
I feel the same way when I listen to them, too! Can you react to their cover of "Imagine" next??? =)
It is definitely on the list ;)
So glad you are enjoying doing PTX. We Pentaholics won't be satisfied until you have done them all!
They sound like angels!
Thank you to his awesome wife for asking him to listen. 😊❤
When I first saw this video, I rewind it 5 times looking for instruments. Thank You for reacting to Pentatonix.
Pentatonix - expanding people's musical horizons everywhere.
Even as Norse Pagans, we still remember our past lives, growing up i was in a Church Choir as well and Hallelujah was my all time favorite to sing too. People always ask why i left the Church and its because i became very lost and the Allfather found me and gave me purpose in life again.

Pentaholics are a phenomenon. Knowledgable, passionate, and nice. "Am I gonna get Mitch slapped?" Bet your ass!😆
Oh and I placed all suggestions in my list to keep track of it ;)
Mitch is truly amazing.
PENTATONIX is outstanding. No one does it better than PTX. They are the best in the world.
Goosebumps already and won't go away until they are done❤❤
Loved your reaction. Knew you’d like this one. It’s so special.🏆
I am a die hard Pentaholic!!! Have loved them since they were on the Sing Off!! Subscribed to your channel for the hopes of more PTX reactions!! I'm here for it!

What a fun reaction, they are all so talented and your enthusiasm is a joy to see.
BOOM!!!! nice Mitch Slap reaction keep reviewing them they are AWSOME
As soon as they start i get the goosebumps
Great reaction. Thank you so much. We feel it too.
😂😂just HERE for the Mitch slap😂😂👍👍
Goosebumps, tears, dumbfounded…couldn’t say it any better
FYI - MUCH MORE MUSICAL GENIUS TO BE FOUND HERE:
Superfruit - they are Mitch and Scott from PENTATONIX
AVI Kaplan - first bass of PENTATONIX, solo work (as a Viking you MUST hear him perform Change on the Rise or you cannot enter Valhalla!)
Kirsty Maldonado - from PENTATONIX, solo work
Kevin Olusola - from PENTATONIX, plays cello, beat-boxes, tenor, producer etc., solo work
HOME FREE - 5 member acapella group (fans are HOME FRIES)
Tim Faust - from HOME FREE but doing his own thing (range is bass to falsetto), solo work
Austin Brown - from HOME FREE, high tenor, solo work
VOICEPLAY - 5 member acapella group
Jeff Castellucci - from VOICEPLAY, true basso profundo to falsetto he can do it all, solo work
DIMASH KUDAIBERGEN - Not acapella - Many say that this young man is the best singer in the world.
People sometimes don't realize Scott(the blond guy)does the bass when Avi has a solo.
Just found your channel for this recommendation! Glad to find a new reactor! Also FYI they just got their star on the Walk of Fame So happy for them to get the recognition they deserve!
If music moves you, Pentatonix will. They're wonderful at their craft. Thank you for sharing your experience.
Dan Vasc participated in a collab…5 guys sing “Hallelujah” on Caleb Hyles’ channel. (Jonathan Young, Peter Hollens, etc…) It’s just a still picture and sound, but you love the song so I thought it was worth mentioning.
