Your dress (aka. huipil) is from Jalapa de Díaz, Oaxaca. They are mazatec and chinantec and usually freehand the drawings in their pieces. Love the diagonal design, by the way. The neckless is, indeed, a huichol/wixarika piece.

The colorful necklace is like Miriam Haskell. I did have a wire choker by her. I also had the earrings and bracelet that matches this.
The pink Gunne Sax dress looks very similar to the one I wore to my senior prom in 1977. I also had a beautiful cornflower blue one with a full skirt and lace up front in 1976.
Iris Apfel comes to mind with those humongous pearls....lol

The I.Magnin dress immediately caught my attention. If you told us the white boots are Alessandro Michele-era Gucci and the other pair is Isabel Marant, I would've believed 100%. Goes to show how very derivative a lot of the new stuff coming out are. The leopard print dress just says "hello, arent you glad i'm here tonight?". Love the giant pearl necklace...so Josie Natori! She would rock that piece. Adore the Moschino and Erte-print top. I smiled when you said Cacharel...its been a long time since i've heard anyone say that brand...conjures up memories of my mother's Anaïs Anaïs perfume.

Just found U, 2 /23/21 & Adore!!! I was a Jessica Mcclintock Gunne Sax wearer in the early 80's from ages 6 to 10 years old, Loved them so much! At first glance I would adore The Hella-Barsara Rans Mini & The late 20's Early 30's hand embroidered off white silk top. Thanks so much for sharing...
I believe the pendant replica of the necklace attributed to a revival done by Judith Leiber is Zapotec from the treasure of Tomb 7 in Monte Alban. Oaxaca City nowadays

@@thewaywewore7371 no, but my Mother has the same piece and I lived by Santo Domingo, the convent in Oaxaca City were the pieces of the treasure are held! arqueologiamexicana.mx/mexico-antiguo/el-oro-en-la-tumba-7-de-monte-alban-contexto-y-significado (I couldn't find an English version though)
It is definitely inspired by Pre-Colombian cultures. NOT Egypt.

I like seeing the dresses on a model like this. You get a really good feel for it that way. After seeing her in the red dress, I wanted to see the lepard print dress and that pretty purple shiny dress on her too. I was a teen in the 70's so these dresses could have come out of my closet! lol Love watching you and hearing you explain it all. Thank you.

I had a shell top made of metallic brocade that looked a lot like that dress. I bought it vintage in the 80s. The glass bead necklace you are wearing is widely available at cruise ports in Central America. If we ever get to cruise again, I will buy a couple in Guatemala.

How exciting, I actually own one of those red Jean Varon dresses! I had 2 at one point, one was shortened, and the one I have appears to have had the longer skirt removed. Its one of my treasures.

Thumbs up for 2968-1972, old ladies not in lunch club. I remember Gunne Sax dresses. Wore one Jr yr . Fresh yr we cd wear pants but had to come to knees and have knee length dress on top, like thst spaceship gold belted dress pantsuit in beige jersey from another show. I bought a puddle sleeve yellow dress exactly like thot homemade one you show. Embroidered overlay fabric. Sr yr was a crushed velvet w ivory embroidery long empire waist dress in mushroom mauve. College got some platforms lv low rise v wide bell bottom jeans and Indian print halters galore. Crocheted bikini . Fav though was 7th grade bell bottom Beatles /mod English / Twiggy inspired wide wale low rise cords w matching hat and striped shirt w polka dot wide tie in alternating print. Boy I thought I was the cat’s pajamas. When my mom bought me that I wanted to hug her . Did I just share all this? Ouch.

The dress has an Otomi embroidery from Tenango Hidalgo and the necklace could be a Huichol (San Luis Potosi) craft or a Raramuri (Chihuahua) one
Loving those '70s styles! A couple years ago my grandmother passed away, and my mom gave me her mother-of-the-bride dress from my mom's wedding in 1972 , which she still had in her closet (I'm the only one who can fit it). It's from a brand called Carrie Couture, which I can't find anything about. I look forward to having an event to wear it to.

I thought the dress pattern was by the indeginous people, the Otomi. And the neclace pendant is peruvian ...precolombian inspired
Can you please cover items in your collection for "plus sizes"? I am US 12/14 42/33/42 and even finding anything that works in that size range is a challenge. Size inclusive vintage has to be a thing.

I apologize but I always look for pieces larger than a US 8-10. They are very hard to find and are usually altered in a way that makes it undesirable. Eli eve it or not-they are the first things to sell too! Try calling Playclothes in Burbank. They have a special section for pieces larger than a medium. I really do try. Thanks for your comment.
