- This is the little seen Doctor Who sketch, 'Hallo My Dalek' performed on BBC1's Crackerjack on 21 March 1975. Don McLean as The Doctor, Jan Hunt as Sarah and Peter Glaze (The Sensorites) as The Brigadier
That was amazing. I remember watching this when it first went out, not seen it since, until today, Wednesday 15th of March 2017, almost exactly 42 years, and I still remember the dance with the Dalek, and the music.
Andrew Dexter Shame I was just under 6 months from being born. #lol Don does a interesting take on Tom ;)
Evonne Okafor, I was 5, going on 6, well I was going to be 6 in the August of 1975.
Andrew Dexter Which was 1 week and a day before I was born!!!!
I remember watching this as a child 1st time around - lovely seeing this again - Used to watch Crackerjack every week - Sad to see some have sadly passed away but great to see them as I remember them - Thank You
Thank you! There's a short clip of this in the special "More Than Thirty Years in the TARDIS," and I've always wanted to see the rest!
Peter Glaze, here playing the "Brigadier", also appeared as a Sensorite in the Hartnell story of the same name.
That dalek eyestalk is bugging me
Doreen the dancing Dalek is the best part.
Peter Glaze, such a stalwart and underrated comedic talent 😊
The best childrens' tv show and all my childhood memories are embedded in crackerjack. love don mclean. absolute comedy genius and ed stewpot too. .
Incredible, wonderful. Thank you.
Dalek Casino? Now I've seen everything.
Absolutely fabulous, simple as that. Thanks for sharing this. ❤❤❤❤
CRACKERJACK!!!!!!! I remember watching this like it was yesterday.
Better than the last series of Doctor Who.
Still crying?
@@404TVfr Still dressing up as a girl?
Loved all the business of standing on the scarf!
Thank you for sharing!
I haven’t seen that in nigh on 50 years. A few cultural references that would’ve been lost on a modern of audiences like “fighting the flab” from Terry Wogan’s radio two show.
Still quite amusing.
“Gerroff the scarf!”
Oh dear. The definition of "light" entertainment.... 😮
Damn, Don MacLean was as funny as piles.
Widmerpool99.
And just as excruciating!
Jan Hunt this year (2019) is still performing and says she wants to be in the revived Crackerjack. Search for the Daily Mirror article!
I'd seen excerpts of this in 30 Years in the TARDIS...
... and that was more than enough.
Don should have done HERMAN MUNSTER!
You know how a spoof ends up being more embarrassing than the elements of a show they are trying to spoof? Yeah, that.
Jimmy Saville hiding in props.
Yeah yeah, the hardened fan knows the connections, but this is joyful simply because entertainment and drama (and everything else for that matter) was produced at the BBC on roughly the same level and with the same kind of resources. Once they get in the studio that becomes obvious.
Is there something interesting on the ceiling Dalek?
It's so difficult to make Doctor Who spoofs actually funny.
And it still hasn't made it on to any DVD set as an extra
Love sara shes so good with tom baker.love them. I
The description led me to expect the Doctor to be sing American Pie lol
Peter Glaze (The Brig) should be used to this as he appeared in "The Sensorites".
@@marlowe78 A Sensorite...the voice is unmistakable...the one with the black collar
Countdown brought me here. Who on Earth is Don Maclean?
Hey, it could be canon.
What are they chanting at 6:20?
I believe they're chanting "Oggle Cockle, Oggle Cockle". The origin can be heard on the album:
www.discogs.com/Don-MacLean-Jacqueline-Clarke-Peter-Glaze-Christine-Ozanne-Crackerjack/release/10280932
In a nutshell, the joke was something like: "Why do they call milkbottles 'oggle cockles' in Venice? Because when they put them outside the door at night they go 'oggle cockle, oggle cockle, oggle cockle...'
When I was about 7 I thought this was the funniest joke ever written.
...crackerjack. You know.
Thank you!
@@originalveghead I still dont get it! ?????????????
@@terryperring104 Don't worry, you're not missing much.

Why that eggs almost big enough to be the moon.
I wish he wouldn't keep pushing her!!
What the hell did I just watch
A thing.
Just as bad as I remember it was.
0:27 So many little white faces....
The native people of the British Isles are white... what did you expect people from Cameroon?
I'm amazed that you found it within yourself to be so condensending...
@@That_Random_Bloke Oh my, why are you so aggressive? Calm down
Sigh, the England I knew is disappearing. We were one nation back then, not some horrible multi-racial soup.
What the fuck do you expect? Placement of multi ethnicities just to appease racist schmucks like you? In 1975?
I never did like Crackerjack as a kid (and those kinds of shows), I thought it was pathetic and boring.
It was very self-indulgent and with the sketches especially, you got the feeling they were enjoying themselves much more than the kids.
