    I love unrefined cold-pressed Coconut Oil, It works amazing and you can buy a huge jar for $8.00 depending where you live. Also Tattoo Goo Lotion and Color Guard Stick SPF 30 is amazing, all dermatologist tested and has essential oils in their products to rejuvenate the color of the tattoo.

    PLEASE use sunblock everywhere, but esp. on all tattoos - not just colored one. A close friend worked in the medical field for yrs and she saw so many ppl w/ sun cancer tumors the exact shape and size of the tats. Something about the melanin. Idk. But skin cancer is so serious, its not just something fair skinned ppl have to worry about. Every skin color can get it & you don't need to use a tanning bed to die from it. And if it sounds like I know ppl who have had it, you'd be right. Pls be careful.

    • @adonayh225
      @adonayh225 7 років тому +10

      Rebekah Navarro Are you sure sunblock isn't the thing that causes cancer.

    • @WWeCENATION4eva
      @WWeCENATION4eva 7 років тому +6

      Rebekah Navarro Yes you are right, but especially if you are fair skinned you are more at risk to get skin cancer. Darker people like myself have more tolerance to the sun because of melanin; therefore, they tan easier. This is why pale people usually get sunburns and freckles.

    • @bekahnavarro
      @bekahnavarro 7 років тому +2

      Jeffrey Rohan Yeah I agree. I have olive skin and don't rly burn. I wish I'd used it when I was young bc now I have sun damage at 41. So far no skin cancer, but better safe right?

    • @Melodysys.
      @Melodysys. 7 років тому +3

      Rebekah Navarro I use sunblock all the time, well, when I remember
      I carry sunblock in my bag and wear long sleeved shirts and pants and I have a parasol I use sometimes. I wish I knew where to get UV protective clothing, I'm really fair and I sometimes can burn through my clothes

    • @madbrah8361
      @madbrah8361 7 років тому +6

      Jeffrey Rohan While what you say may or may not be true, it's a fact that more African Americans die from skin cancer than other races due to the fact that an abnormality such as a dark mole that looks rough around the edges, is harder to notice on dark pigmentation than lighter pigmentation.

    i love your channel, but you should never really put essential oils on your skin, especially lavender oil, since it's highly phototoxic (makes your skin more prone to sun damage)
    it kind of does the opposite of what you're trying to do
    argan, jojoba and coconut are perfectly fine though

      I thought only citrus oils were phototoxic?

    • @skrittle555
      @skrittle555 6 років тому +8

      lavender isn't phototoxic- you might be thinking of an allergic reaction. mainly citrus oils are phototoxic/photosensitive. but yes, you should usually not use essential oils directly on your skin without first diluting them in some sort of "carrier oil" such as coconut oil. some oils like lavender, rose, and chamomile are typically considered safe for undiluted skin use, but honestly, i'd still dilute them anyway because they're soooo concentrated and they're made up of molecules so small that they can easily enter the bloodstream.

  • @beverlymartin5837
    @beverlymartin5837 8 років тому +28

    Essential oils are different from cosmetic oils, definitely don't put pure essential oils on your skin! They're really strong and can cause a major reaction! They're just for making your house smell nice :) but the oils you showed here were fine for skin, no problem.

    • @starhill6792
      @starhill6792 8 років тому +1

    • @ravennightshade8329
      @ravennightshade8329 8 років тому +3

      essential oils are ok in a carrier oil but you still have to take note of precautions. citrus isn't good if you're out in the sun. always follow instructions, but Def don't use them neat!

      You see of online pics where guys have these incredible tats. The area is shaved so the artist can work and 2 inches away its VERY hairy. Maybe I'm just a weirdo, but I'm the kind of person that thinks "Oh, you are going to start shaving the whole area, aren't you?" Even in black and gray, what's the point in dropping $$$$ to put art on yourself, then ruin the effect if you're hairy?

    As I guy I actually do all three. Ever since my first I've been diligent about UV protection and using sun screen. Any outside work I'd wear pants to protect my legs (Ive got two calf and two thigh tattoos) and now I'm wearing a long sleeve when mowing grass since I'm working on my tattoo sleeve. The heat sucks but I'd rather prevent skin aging and faded tattoos if I can.
    I may go as far as arm shaving one day but probably when my sleeve is complete. I do trim it back though else it'd be way too much. I've been leg shaving/waxing for a few years already. Mostly because it gets out of control and it's hard to feel clean when you seem to genetically be part bear. I've kinda given up about dealing with what's considered "normal" and just go with it. There's many reasons why (tattoos look much better, easier to apply lotion and sunscreen, easier to wash, less sweating, and overall just feeling cleaner).
    I also use some kind of almond oil for freshening them up. It's shocking how well they work. Helps make blacks appear darker too.

      David A.P. pimples can make your tattoo not settle properly, sometimes the ink will just go around it and you'll have a blank spot where the pimple was in the center of your tattoo. Its best to have fully healed and as smooth as possible skin before getting your tattoo, but always ask your artist before anything! The internet doesn't always know everything😊 good luck!

    Have you tried coconut oil? My tattoo artist recommended it cause it keeps your skin moisturized, has uv protection and makes your skin soft. Tell me what you think and if you have tried and and think something is better, cause I want the best for my tattoos ^_^

    I use sunscreen with spf 30 pretty much every day when its sunny but now after 3 years the yellow in one of my tattoos is nearly gone. Is 30 not enough ? Should I upgrade to spf 50 ? Any ideas ?

      Use the highest SPF you can find and afford. The more the better! My tattoos are nearing 40 years old now, and still look pretty rad for an old fart -- about 90% covered. Blues, purples, greens, and black are really impressive; sadly the yellows and reds have been mostly absorbed. I believe the newest inks have great potential for lasting even better, but most importantly, use your sunscreen everyday whether or not the sun is shining, all year long. Thirty years from now you won't regret taking care of your skin.

      i think with red and yellow inks its not even all about the sunscreen. the pigments tend to get absorbed by the body over time. I have a tattoo of 6 solid colored circles. All of them healed great, except the yellow. the yellow dot has some spots where the ink didnt take at all, none of the other dots have this issue. (the green and blue dots look the best still several months out)

    Does it also help for word tattoos? I don't have color in my tat. I only have words.

      Can help with clarity depending on how hairy your tattooed areas get.
