  • Ravin R26 Crossbow. This is a tutorial on how to sight in the Ravin R26 Crossbow. This will work on all Ravin Crossbows with the same scope. Sight in at 50, use windage and elevation to make sure you are hitting the bullseye. Move to 20 yards and adjust the scope speed ring according to the point of impact. Re-confirm at other yardages. Good luck everyone!

    Man, I was backwards. I watched a different video that showed the process as sighting the scope in at 20 yds, and then adjusting the speed dial at 50 yds. I was getting flustered because no matter how I adjusted the speed dial at 50 yds, I was still hitting about 2" low despite hitting dimes at the initial sight in at 20 yds. I thought that maybe my scope was a dud (maybe it still is?). Glad I found your video, gonna do it your way tomorrow.

      Yes this is the correct way to sight in
      Adjust turrets at 50 and speed dial at 20

      @@GeLeeOutdoors Thank you so much! I believe that I got a defective scope. Got it zeroed at 50 yds, speed ring makes no difference at 20 yds. Now shooting two inches high at 20 yds and have the speed ring maxed out at 450 fps, and still hitting approximately 2 inches high. I shoot a bruin ambush 410, 425 gr. Bolts, I know good and darn well that this thing isn't shooting faster than 450 fps 😂!

    Great video. Couldn't tell you how many vidoes I had to watch to see how to actually adjust to scope. They fail to say how to adjust the scope when its not on when you get back to 20yds or what to adjust.

    My ravin r500s first pin is 30 so would that mean I would go out to 60 instead of 50? because 60 is my middle pin

    Thanks for the straight forward, no B.S. video. I like good information, not cheerleaders in camo slinging the over-the-top bro-hype. Nice job!
    I have the R-10. It is pretty accurate out to 50 yards; probably further, I have only shot out to 50 yards on an uphill target.
    At 50 yards, with a Vegas style target, five of my 9 arrows were in the 10 ring. Actually had I dropped a couple clicks of elevation, 8 of the 9 would have been 10 ring. I jerked the one outside the 10 ring, but it was still a solid 9 ring. And that was my first day shooting the xbow. I still need to get used to the trigger; it could be a bit smoother. It has a little too abrasive, metal on metal feeling. As I shoot it more, it should break in a little and I will also get used to the squeeze travel of the trigger. The trigger is my only main squawk about this bow so far. Also, it would be nice if the yardage numerals were lighted also. It would be easy to to fixate on the wrong yardage tic in lowlight conditions.
    So far, as an arrow flinging machine, it is very impressive. And relative to other xbows, for consistent accuracy, the R-10 is worth the price of $1,299.00.
    I shot a Ravin in 2018 while in Denton Texas at an indoor range. I was shooting my compound and the fellow next to me asked me if I would like to try his Ravin. It was a nock buster at 30 yards. But two years ago, I never thought I would want an xbow, let alone buy one.
    Well, now I still like my compound, this Ravin is going to open up some more possibilities this upcoming hunting season.

    After the initial 50 yard sight in with windage and elevation........ you can save yourself a lot of time and effort when you go back to 20 and verify. Get in a solid rest and fire that one shot. If it hits where it's aimed at 20 it's calibrated. If it doesn't...... get in a solid rest and aim at the bullseye and adjust the speed dial up or down until the 20 yard reticle rests on the arrow you just shot.
    Remember though...... before any shooting is done for sighting in make sure the axle to axle measurement is in spec and that the timing dots are split in the middle with the cables.
    Also periodically check these measurements because if the string and or cables stretch your scope settings will be way off

    That thing is Loud! I was gonna do an upgrade and get the R26, glad I didn't!!
    My 2 year old $400 crossbow shoots just as good if not better with far less noise. Gotta keep in mind at 400 fps it takes the arrow almost 3/4 of a second to get there. The sound will reach the animals ears in just under 1/4 of a second leaving a full 1/2 a second to react. You also need about 7 feet of vertical clearance for the 100yard shot.
    So the $2,000.00 bow and the $400.00 bow are pretty much equal performers
    50 yard hunters and 100 yard paper punches. I'll keep the extra $1,600.00 in my pocket.

      Start out at 10 yards make sure your close to center
      Move back to 50 yards and use the windage/elevation turrets to get the bolt in the bullseye
      Go back to 20 yards (do not touch the windage and elevation turrets) and shoot one bolt
      If it’s high, move the speed ring to a slower speed
      If it shoots low, move the speed ring to a faster speed
      Re-confirm at 60-70-80 yards

      Right now “The Reel Shot” has them on sale for 1600 which is a steal!
      If you have the extra money the R29X is a sweet crossbow as well. Just a tad bit longer, faster, and has a silent crank without holding down the thumb button

    It's NOT a fixed power scope. It's a variable power scope, hence the speed dial.

    • @rhodesoflife
      @rhodesoflife Рік тому

      Lol you are wrong you can not zoom in and out. So it's FIXED power....the speed dial is adjusting the yardage within the scope. That doesn't change the power of the scope...

    • @rhodesoflife
      @rhodesoflife Рік тому

      LPVO scopes(Low Power Variable Optic) change power meaning 1x-what ever you have 6,8,10 are most common. But this scope is 100% FIXED POWER since it stayed at one single magnification...

    So you are saying...if you are high right you are not moving the POI like on a rifle? You re saying you move the POA? That is 100% backward to a rifle scope. As you always move the POI TOOOOO the POA...

  • @rhodesoflife
    @rhodesoflife Рік тому

    Sorry....watched a Ravin video and they explain it 100% the opposite of what you said. You said if you are high right you need to move the knobs right...that is wrong I think? • @GeLeeOutdoors

      Correct I gave the wrong information
      Correct information:
      Take a shot at its center using the 20 yard aiming point on the reticle. If the point of impact is higher than the point of aim, turn the FPS speed selector dial to a slightly lower number. If the point of impact is lower than the point of aim, turn the FPS speed selector dial to a slightly higher number.
