    Hey,march 26 2023. My R26 blew up while hanging in my gun room after 1 season of use! I ordered after market strings and cables, installed them myself. Also cut down some Black Eagle shafts to17” and built my own bolts. Roughly 415gr. Total weight. Extremely accurate and nothing sticking out the end of the bow. I shoot it at least 3times a week as I believe you should! You have to be very comfortable with your weapons and that means plenty of practice!!! Right? Only issue I have now is the crank slipping prematurely. Other than that it’s a tack driver! Also I installed a Vortex red dot scope. Awesome setup-Redoing my R29X Sniper the same way with 20”Black Eagle bolts and aftermarket string and cables. Love the bows, hate their setups. Thanks. Mike L

      Yeah I’ve heard of stories of these blowing up. The handle slipping is probably the clutch mechanism in the handle not working properly.
      Take the handle into a Ravin Dealer they should be able to warranty order one for you. If not I believe they have a tool to turn the clutch.

    I mounted a HHA system on my crossbow and I'm going to shoot a 465gr. bolt. The Raven R26 crossbow is the best crossbow that I have ever had. I want to take care of it so I can use it for a long time. Great video ☺️ thanks for sharing this.

    Good and honest analysis. I'm impressed with the fact that RAVIN has finally fixed the front scope mount on the R26, where it's cantilevered or hanging loose in the front on their other models!

    My original string only lasted about 70-75 bolts and then blew up right at a year of ownership. The original strings and cables are crap, I got a ravin press and ordered a badass replacement string and cable set from The Archery Shack. i couldnt be happier, going on 18 months now and no signs of significant wear and barely a drop in speed. i shoot somewhere between 10-150 bolts a year and this cable and string set is still standing strong. They have a youtube channel, check em out.

    I have been very pleased with mine. I have shit it supported out to 70 yards with rifle like accuracy.
    A small sliding adjustable plate on rear stock would be a great feature to extend it a bit once in the stand.

    Great crossbow this will be my fourth season with it I’ve killed seven bucks the previous three big boys all of them. I’ve had to replace the string the end of the first year and somehow in the process the limb broke got a new limb through warranty and new string. The strings are already looking rough so you basically get one year of shooting maybe 100 shots and you’re replacing the string. I’m shooting 100 g manual says. I purchased the 10 point siege last year to make sure I have a back up. I think I’m going to use that kill some bucks. I do love my Ravin.

    You have given me more info about the r26 then any other site. Thanks, I'm 70 years old with shoulder problems. The r26 has helped me hunt the way I preferred hunting. So I want to learn all I can about the bow. Now I do have a small amount of fraing on my cables on the bottom top one's look ok. I have two more doe tags to fill. Reckon those cables will be fine. String is good

    • @GeLeeOutdoors
      @GeLeeOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      I would change them out
      The 26 is known for string/cable breakage if any fraying
      Good luck the rest of the season!

    • @neilharris8593
      @neilharris8593 Рік тому

      Before I hunt doe's I should replace them ?. String to or just cables or do you have to do it all, then zero it back in?

    • @GeLeeOutdoors
      @GeLeeOutdoors  Рік тому +1

      If it’s fraying I would
      Don’t wanna risk anything. The 26 has the most holding weight out of all crossbows minus the r500

      @@GeLeeOutdoors as you can see in my comments I almost bought one the other day for 1350 at Cabela's and bought the AR-10 for 1065 instead I looked at 9 one star reviews at Cabela's alone showing several r26 that blew up no thanks red on a few forums that after 40 shots the servings literally come apart on them

      Well, I’ve been shooting mine for 3 years without issue. Serving is just fine. Keep it lubed with the serving fluid!

    Like my r29. No issues with the bolt sticking out. But I just picked it up my local wisconsin sporting goods store with a great sale price. Only been out to shoot it twice only 10 shots on it. Way to windy to zero it. As soon as I get a decent day to zero i will. I waxed all the cables prior too using it per my local shop. I did this on all my prior compounds and pse crossbow. Working that wax in properly has helped alot on those bows to keep things looking new. And moisture out while hunting.

    • @MrTNBassmaster
      @MrTNBassmaster Рік тому

      You don't put wax on Ravin crossbow strings . You use Ravin or scorpid fluid and let it dry.

    Great video! limb saver silencers will help quiet. Sold by Ravin . Any leads on the stirrup ? See Big Bird sold one , was inundated with orders though . How are the new cables and string holding on your dads bow ?

    You know what that's exactly why I like my Raven r10 crossbow I think it's the best one they've made you never hear any problems with limbs breaking or cables and strings all these companies keep doing is keep adding more and more poundage to these limbs until they start breaking I am glad I've got my r10 I have had no problems with it whatsoever it shoots 400 ft a second and I believe it's the best Raven crossbow that they have made

      @@GeLeeOutdoors Cabela’s has a big sale going on right now. I love them. There’s only a $300 difference between the two and I still grabbed the R10. I’ve read a lot of reviews and know people personally that had R26s blow up just sitting around in closets! I’m a pretty tall guy with a long reach and the R10 fits me better.

    This is not a knock at the producer of this video, you did a great job of explaining everything. The FPS adjustment on the crossbow is an unnecessary addition. It literally does nothing. I’ve owned every crossbow known to man, and recently bought the raven R26x, great bow, but if you believe that the FPS adjustment is going to make a difference think about this. Why is it on there? If you zero the bow and set it at 400fps like the manual says, why would you ever have to change it? Adjusting it will NOT change the bows zero AT ALL!!! I’ve been a sniper for 25 years and have Over 20 years experience with scopes and how they work and if you think simply changing a fps second adjustment is going to make a difference your fooling yourself. Plus your not going to see any deviations in your zero until you e shot over 100 bolts or so and even then it won’t be dramatic. If your zero changes, you have to change it in the turrets not the fps second adjustment. Just a bit of information for those stressing over that little dial with all those unneeded fps adjustments on it.

    • @lovejoy1230
      @lovejoy1230 7 місяців тому

      It does make a difference in the ballistic drops of the reticle and since not all bows shoot the same speed there is a need for the speed adjustment in order for the ballistic reticle to work accurately a different distances. If your bow shoots 400fps but the scope is set to 320 fps, you simple ts will be off a different yardages. Seen myself in mine as my speeds changed with string changes. Bow shot 410 fps out the box after a year of shooting, down to 387. Made a big difference and the aim points a different yardages was off, corrected with the correct speed on the dial and accurate again. Replaced the string and had to re sight in.

    Strings, cables, and arrows are all CONSUMABLE products.... meaning they wear out and even break.
    If you use arrows, strings, and or cables of the same or in most cases BETTER quality I don't see how they can void anything.

    Yea I've heard that the Ravins have issues with excessive string wears and "blowing up" that's why I have 3 Tenpoints for me and my boys. Tenpoints been around longer and know what they are doing. Still using original cables/strings on my first Tenpoint from 6 yrs ago...no fraying or excessive wears yet
