    There is only one distance to zero a speed scope with the elevation and windage. That distance is at the center of the lens optics, usually where the crosshairs are centered. That is the only point on scope that is not affected when the speed dial is changed (speed dial is actually magnification adjustment of image behind the yardage markers on scope). After this point is zeroed (by shooting and adjusting windage and elevation), pick another yardage marker on scope that is not too close to the center-of-scope yardage marker. Shoot again while adjusting only the speed dial to get this marker dead-on. Remember that the speed dial does not change the first marker setting. Now you have two dead-on yardage markers. The rest will be real close by design.

    Kudos on the tip there Sir.......You did everything correctly by doing, what we old school archers do for our own bows. The “ walk back “ method is by far, a sure way of getting true results for any one particular bow because of the variations in arrow speed that it shoots, ( give or take, + or - the FPS ) I did it with my PSE Fang, and it’s dead on at every DOT 😎🙏🏹🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸👍 Thanks for sharing.

    Excal spd ring scope has to be sighted in at 20yrds(main crosshairs) (dead perfect). THen you confirm that at 30. If its on at 30 try other yardage. If the other points are consistently high or low then adjust the spd ring slightly. Arrows hit high increase spd, low decrease spd. THese minor speed adjustments wont matter or affect the main 20yrd zero enough to hardly notice.I say this because my scope is 1click=1/2" at 20yrds. But at longer distances it can be considerable.

      Your welcome bubba.. thanks for watching.. for example just bc your bow may say it shoots 350 don't set it at 350 come down just alittle maybe to around 335... And start there.. shoot your 1 line at 20yrdd once it's dead on there then move target out to 30yrds and use 2nd line in the scope. This is when you'll have to make little adjustments till you find your mark..

    No. You need to sight it in on one distance (say 20 yards) and then test at a DIFFERENT distance (say 30 yards), and adjust the speed setting so that it still shoots on target on your second distance (30 yards in this example).

    That goes against what Excalibur told me, I haven't had a chance to site in yet, but they told me to site in at 20yrds with the turrets, then move back to 40yrds and use the speed ring to site in 40, they said that's all there is to it, well see I guess.

    With this kind of scope
    Before you have to sight it at 20 yards
    Then go at 30 yards don't move nothing to sight it if you not hit on the center of your target
    The only thing you have to setup is the speed on your crossbow
    We can say your crossbow is 370
    Try setup it at 350 then see where it hit
    If it not hit the right place then put little more speed like 355 but pay attention
    It maybe need little more speed or less
    Just remember when you go try at 30 yards you need to sight on the second line
    Each line below the top line or point is 10 yards
    Good luck!

    • @sandybartlett1333
      @sandybartlett1333 3 роки тому

      Exactly. The only thing that needs to be touched after a 20yard zero is the speed ring. If your low at 40 yards lower the speed till your on and then you know the true speed of your crossbow. I did it the wrong way at first like this guys is doing and then saw a excalibur video and bam easy pleasy.

    Here's an excellent idea..... how about going by the paperwork that came with the scope.....hmmmmm...that should work, huh?
    With the Excalibur Scopes that are speed rated you sight the main crosshair (at 20 yards) DEAD ON.
    Then you turn your speed dial to the approximate speed of the bow you're shooting which will depend on your arrow weight.
    After that move your target to 40 yards.
    Fire one arrow at the bullseye using your 40 yard reticle. If it hits where you aim your scope is calibrated to your bow and speed. If it doesn't hit where it's aimed put the bow in a solid rest and WITHOUT moving the crossbow aim at the bullseye with your 40-yard reticle and adjust the speed dial up or down until the 40 yard reticle covers the arrow you just shot. Then you're DONE. The scope is calibrated to the speed of the bow and arrow combination. One thing you must keep a close eye on is your brace height setting on the recurve crossbows. Make sure the brace height is set within factory specs before you sight in. After you get the scope sighted in make sure you stay at that braceheight setting.
    If the string stretches it will change that brace height and then your scope settings will be off

    I’ve got a vengeance reverse limb and replaced the scope with a Excalibur tactzone. Excalibur says if you zero @ 20 yards that you should be able to move the target to 30,40 &50 and use the dots in scope without having to make any adjustments. I zeroed at 20 yards dead on. Moved bag to 30 yards and the 30yrd dot was dead on. Moved to 40 yards and am hitting 6” low. Move back to 30 and dead on. Manufacture says vengeance shoots 365FPS. I have the speed ring set at 365 as well. Thoughts? Should I buy a chronograph and see what FPS I’m really shooting? Does this sound like a speed ring problem?

      1st line should be set at 20yrds. Shoot till it's hitting bullseye...
      Then put target out to 30yrds and sight in 2nd line at 30yrds... After that then move target back to 40yrds.. that's when you play with the speed dial till it's close as possible.. I found out mine wasn't 100% dead on but within a 2in grouping.. after you are on bullseye with the 20yrd (1st line) and then 30yrds(2nd line) it should be just adjusting the speed dial for 40 yrds...

    Did you adust the elevation to bring it up at 30? I'm having same problem. I zeroed in at 20 and no matter where the speed dial is I I'm 2-3" low. After zeroed in at 30 how did you adust the dial?

    • @yeehaw2720
      @yeehaw2720  5 років тому +2

      I zeroed 1st line in at 20 then went out to 30 n zeroed the 2nd line in.. that's when playing with the speed dial is gonna come into place.. no more adjusting is needed when zeroed in at 30 it's just playing with that speed dial from then on... If your bow says it shoots 350 then you wanna come down off that some day adjust the speed scope down to 335-340 n see where it's at... Once u site in at 20 with the 1st line then move out to 30 with the 2nd line after zeroed in 2nd line at 30 it's just playing with speed dial after that... Also shoot same bolt when doing this.. not different ones... Not all bolts we buy are good something I've learned along the way.. so you just wanna make sure u shoot the same bolt on all you shots.. then after you get it figured out and zeroed in then start shoot all your bolts, then you'll see what bolts are flying different n you'll no not to use them bc if you have bad bolts while trying to zero your scope in your gonna think it's you when it's not it's the bolts so just find you a bolt that shoots good and only use that bolt...
