Almost a year has passed since this was put on youtube and I just came back to tell you that, you know how sometimes a song can bring back specific moments/memories of your life because during that time you happened to be listening to that song quite frequently? Well in my case I listened to this a lot last year when my college graduation was coming, during which I experienced so many bittersweet moments, AND there you were with this perfect emotional piece. Thank you so much Nick, thanks to you there will forever be this perfect song that literally recorded those few unforgettable months in my life.
I'm glad to see you're keeping with the melodic, disciplined approach you found on "Remarkably Human". It'll have more staying power than the shredder excess of the week, this I am sure of.
Saving guitar one note at a time. Your finesse is unparalleled in the sea of meandering shred vomit that attempts to drown us. Thanks for giving us hope.
Man you are a gift, I mostly listen death metal stuff but your style is astonishing... You are a true inspiration. You have your own signature sound but without being repetitive and this is a joy for ears. Hope to see you in real life a day, you'll be one of the greatest if you're one of them today
I was lucky enough to see him live twice and was able to meet him before both shows. Absolutely one of the nicest people I've ever met and so humble - I hope that you'll get to see him live too!
I'm reminded of the feeling I had when I first heard one of my all-time favorite albums, Pat Metheny Group (1978). Thanks, Nick. This is such a beautiful piece!
It´s been many, many years without a guitar album of this quality. From writing to production, recording, engineering, tone, phrasing, taste, originality... It´s got it all! If you have not got it already, do yourself a favor and buy it!
What a truly amazing song it is a masterpiece of playing and emotion. it takes me on journeys in many directions. you are one of the best guitar players in the world and the world is about to find that out ! thank you for all you do and keep playing God bless
Remember..!!!!!!....NO YNGWIE = no paul gilbert-no mcalpine - no jason becker - no marty friedman- no vinnie moore - no michael romeo- no NICK JOHNSTON....etc...etc...etc
Seeing you on stage was the coolest thing ever. The entire crowd was blown away by your performance, no one could believe it. You totally stole the show, and it was well deserved. You rocked it. The lack of vocals actually pulls me in, and I get lost in the incredible sound like it's a maze of rhythm.
I love that you focused on writing this on a piano. Always follow where your heart and music take you. Your growth in composition and songwriting prowess match your guitar playing. The level of sheer craftsmanship is amazing. You and a few of your contemporaries like Plini, DMM, Jakub etc have given me faith that there are in fact new legends who will replace the generation of legendary musicians that are now in their 70s or beyond. Not sure i would have said that until this quarantine had me fall down the rabbit hole of all this amazing guitar driven music
Wow! Mighty sounding opeth-ish ballad in 7/8. Great melodies and harmonies. Your stuff is just getting better and better... And the best of all: no overshredding :-D
Hi Nick..I bought wide eyes in the dark on apple a few weeks ago..I have been going through some very dark times in my life ..I haven’t listened to anything else I bought it..I have a few wines put my headphones on turn the lights off and your music takes me away to somewhere else that ..just wanted to say thanks for making such beautiful art that can help heal people..🙏 this is my favourite track I replay this one a few times usually .
What a great piece of art Mr. Johnston, The chord progression in the solo section reminded me a lot of Haken (EM7 to Fm7). The way you architected these changes made it feel so good to hear, I will listen this song for a while, thank you!
Once again, nice job. Great song structure, dynamics and tone. It's not easy playing slow-to-moderate speed instrumental guitar AND capturing the listener while doing it.
This song makes me sad- as I think it's intended- because as you know- we wait for the "cure promised" as well. Always promised- never delivered- sucks. Great composition Nick- you continue to grow and I didn't think there was anywhere else to grow to- but you prove me wrong!
What really makes a big difference between today's guitarists and Nick is that he's not just one of the best players, but the music is really something special, unique and fascinating and not a necessary thing to put the guitar player in the foreground. I am also pretty sure that it doesn't matter whether he plays Schecter or Fender or a Cheap Guitar sounds the same because this sound is in his fingers and his head. The best combination of music and musician. Well done Nick. Respect!
This video is an example why good writing and attention to certain nuances always trumps technical prowess. We have the total package on display here. There is a great amount of thought and feel in what you recorded here and the sound is amazing. Damn fine job Nick. Technically sound.
Awesome music. What you do with spaces and melody is amazing. I just ordered the album and am looking forward to some fantastic headphone time with it.
Holy shit... I am honestly amazed by this song, you really outdid yourself on this one Nick! And I've had Gemini stuck in my head for a week before. I really can't wait for the album. No pressure XD
I love this man. Makes me think of Porcupine Tree/Steve Wilson/Opeth kind of stuff; but still very much your own sound! So excited for this album; can already hear lots of depth to it.
This certainly is phenomenal. I am so happy I found your channel and music. As a person who records original music and plays multiple instruments I feel like I can really appreciate all of the work that goes into a project like this and you have put out some really amazing stuff here.
Hi nick johnston. Very very nice guitar i like that guitar and color of your guitar and i hoping someday one person will be having gift to me like that😊😥 but very impossible
You definitely have you own identity on the guitar now which is getting more rare these days with guitarists. If I heard this song without knowing the artist I would have said your name straight away. The overall tempo, melody and chord selection just SCREAMS your name.
Thanks for watching, you guys! Please consider pre-ordering something from buff.ly/2VL3nfq if you want to support the project. Love you guys!!
You deserve all of our views Nick :)
Slightly off topic: which Pokémon starter is your favorite?
Hell yeah! excited!
Nick com certeza você se tornou referência para muitos guitarristas espalhados pelo mundo afora vida longa pra você.
That was awesome! Love the acoustic and electric intertwining.
As expected, very nice!
This video is a cure
He did promise it
I want Nick to score a sci Fi movie 🙏🙏💪💪
i want nick to marry me
@@ubdejones1 who wouldn't want that honestly
I second this

Reminds me of Guthrie solos in Steven Wilson music. Great vibe!
This entire album... Simply put; is music. It's the true definition of what music IS, in my opinion. Thank you for existing Nick.
I'm glad to see you're keeping with the melodic, disciplined approach you found on "Remarkably Human". It'll have more staying power than the shredder excess of the week, this I am sure of.
Wow. Everyone has to study the way Nick's writing, love it way to much eversince I discovered him. Every song is a movie by itself. 🔥
Melody and harmony is telling two different stories. How can you make it work so beautifully?
Exactly. The solos are not tracking the underlying harmony.
Saving guitar one note at a time. Your finesse is unparalleled in the sea of meandering shred vomit that attempts to drown us. Thanks for giving us hope.
Nick isn't a shredding guitarist. He's a composer who happens to be a very talented guitar player on
@@axleblaze123 Very true, you nailed it.
Yes
Ming Wu I think that was the point of the comment :)
musicality , diversity , virtuosity , dynamic , deep , feeling , human , ....PERFECT MUSICIAN GUITARIST.....!!!!!!!!!!!
Ladies and Gentlemen, this is serious music

Discovered this track recently....my god it´s good...the vibe is just something special..this track just sticks with me. Incredible playing
You have to write movie soundtracks, Nick. I got a Mass Effect vibes at the first seconds
I love it when great musicians put music first. It's the mature thing to do after you have nothing else to prove.
When less is more.
except for the wicked licks at the end
Except this is in no way "little" lol I've never seen anyone developing minimalism into something this emotional and complex
Yngwie Malmsteen doesn´t like this.
Nick is the Anti-Yngwie. For all Malmsteen's talent and ability, he bores me to death after 1/2 a song.@@fernandocanales34

Magic and genius - one of the most inspiring guitar arrangement and solo since a long time, thanks Nick Johnston giving us these feelings
I think Nick is a good representation of contemporary music

Really incredible song, feeling, the technique, the language, congratulations Nick!!!!!!! I admire you.
Great friggin album. One of my top 3 of all time.
This is brilliant Nick. Love your stuff since day 1. The progressions sound so killer.

In addition to these awesome tunes, this is probably the best sounding production and recording I've heard in years. CD Pre-ordered!
Great Music thx Mr.Johnston
Really making me wanna pull the trigger one of your signature guitars! The song is beautiful, so unique, soulful and meaningful!
What a great piece of art Mr. Johnston, The chord progression in the solo section reminded me a lot of Haken (EM7 to Fm7).
The way you architected these changes made it feel so good to hear, I will listen this song for a while, thank you!
Nick Johnston and David Gilmour both embody that incredible ability to tell a whole novel in just two notes.
You are an incredibly talented songwriter / guitar player Nick. Can't get enough of your music
Magnificent my friend, love how it opens up @5:15 and then you land it so gently! Wonderful stuff!
I've just found your music. I have a new obsession.
Nick! Thank you for your MUSIC❤
Possibly one of your jazziest songs yet, has a beautiful almost fusion style. Reminds me of some of the amazing Japanese Fusion guitarists.
Very good job , i like your music very very much .
Once again, nice job. Great song structure, dynamics and tone. It's not easy playing slow-to-moderate speed instrumental guitar AND capturing the listener while doing it.
Superb song from a beautiful recording

So pure... Ecstacy to the ears..
By far my favorite guitar player... First time I've heard so much emotion on a guitar, I was hooked... And there's Benny Greb on drums...
Absolutely incredible. Nothing short of beautiful.
Emotional, original sound.......mamma mia , bellissimo 👍
I dig the extra space in this. Plenty of room to breathe, but no notes that don’t need to be there. Great job!
Sublime- I’m a huge fan Nick.
I love your music Nick.
That Schekter is quickly becoming an iconic guitar.
