The Beatles loved this and covered it. Also: check out, Little Eva, “Locomotion” also The Shirelles, hit record “Will You Still Love Me Tomorrow” written by Carol King. And The Shirelles also had a hit with “Baby It’s You” written by Burt Bacharach, and covered by big fans, The Beatles.

In the early 60’s, my sister’s boyfriend went to Vietnam. She would play this song on her record player as she patiently waited for his letters. I’ve yet to hear anyone react to Little Anthony and The Imperials - Hurt So Bad (1964). I think you both would enjoy his singing and sentiment.

Also another girl group that was very popular was Martha and The Vandellas. Some of their songs were My Baby Loves Me, Come And Get These Memories, What Am I Going To Do Without Your Love. All these songs are Great and you guys will enjoy them!

Resounding yes to the others suggesting Martha Reeves and the Vandellas! Dancing In The Streets was the epitome of the summertime feel good make you get up and dance song. It was covered 20 years later by Mick Jagger and David Bowie and got you up dancing again. A true feel good classic. So much wonderful music came from Motown that had that uniquely American sound.

Yep, Amber..Motown's 2nd number 1 Billboard hit, and the girls contributed lots of background vocals for all the other label acts, too. Back then everything was recorded on 4-track tape, such a natural, live sound that today's music has lost due to over-production and no real instruments. I highly suggest u make your next Motown song The Temptations 1969 studio version of "Ball Of Confusion", Psychedelic soul/funk to the max with lyrics still relevant today!!

Motown's girl groups contributed so much to the music of the 50s and 60s. You might think that you and your preferences have grown and moved on but when you hear one of those oldies you tap your foot and smile through the whole song. The great stuff never loses its appeal. Rock on chil'un ! 😊
