If I've heard correctly wasn't this like the first Disco hit, wasn't it?......I remember a documentary about Disco and I remember this song being a big deal because it was the drummer that came up with what they called the 4 on the Floor drum beat, which was for 4 beats per measure with the base drum (the floor pedal) drum and prior to that almost every song was beats on 1 and 3 or 2 and 4 ...but that 4 on the floor was 1 2 3 and 4, and that really became what made disco distinct from RnB was that 4 beats per measure.
I just went down a mini youtube rabbit hole because I couldnt remember exactly, but this wasn't the first Disco hit but the drummer's for the Tramp's name is Earl Young, and he is credited for inventing the four on the floor beat pattern (as it was used in Disco), and there's a clip on UA-cam "Earl Young Explains his Revolutionary Disco Beat" and the man himself explains it.....and damn what that man can do with a set of drums
This was included on the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack. In the clubs they would play the longer version of this song and we did indeed burn up the dance floor dancing to this fun song on our platform shoes.

That is absolutely true. From House to Hi-NRG to a lot of Techno to today's beats, it all has its origin in that 4-on-the-floor, metronomic seventies disco beat. You tell some people that and they disagree, but it's true. Seventies disco was the first "beats per minute" music.

Right with ya. I was 21 in 78 and spent many, many hours on the dance floor! We had a friggin GREAT time! After disco went kaput here in the states, the USAF sent me to England, then Germany and on to Turkey where disco never died. But I don’t know if it’s still popular today as my time in Turkey ended in 93….then it was back to the states. Party On!! Cheers

That bass line, those horns, the soulful lead and great harmonies, those late guitar licks. Probably one of the top 5 disco hits ever, and proof that so many disco songs were also just great songs
One that I used to tear up the floor with: Thelma Houston: "Don't leave me this way." (single version) (HQ Audio) One heck of a dance song and excellent vocals!
I was about 18 at the height of disco. We used to wear beautiful dresses and the guys wore suits. The clubs had dance floors that lit from underneath. What a blast! I danced with 19 guys one night, no strings attached, because dancing is what we came there for. One club had rock upstairs and disco downstairs, and the floors were connected with a big spiral slide. What a hoot! When you heard the opening to this song, you made a beeline for the dance floor!

I am so happy to hear you young folks embrace Disco! During the late seventies, I was a teenager. This song from the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack was emblematic of the late '70s culture. Disco.... Yaaay! Continue with the great reactions!

I'm not sure if you've heard it or not, but another great disco hit was "Turn the Beat Around" by Vicki Sue Robinson, from 1976. It was covered by Gloria Estefan in the late 80s.
I'm a hard rock/metal guy but I love any song or music that makes you shake your ass and dance like a crazy fool like this song does. Long live Disco!!! It's all about letting loose and having fun. De stress people!!!
It began as a creation of the Black and Latin LGBT dance scene. Disco’s first big star was trans Sylvester and his backup singers- Two Tons of Fun ( later the Weather Girls) “ You Make Me Feel Mighty Real”!
This song is definitely in the top 3 of best disco songs ever made. Other songs you can react to from this genre are GEORGECMCCRAE with ROCK YOUR BABY. This song is thought of as the first true disco hit that introduced the world to the genre. Then you have the song DON’T LEAVE ME THIS WAY. This was originally sung by HAROLD MELVIN AND THE BLUE NOTES but I prefer the version by THE COMMUNARDS as you get a great dance track which is a bit more 80’s. Then there’s EDWIN STARR who had several great songs WAR, CONTACT and THATS THE WAY. Finally one of the best is AMII STEWART with KNOCK ON WOOD.
Okay… The second time when the lead vocalist screams “Saaaaaatisfaction!” That just melts my platform shoes right off my feet. The funk was flamin’ in the clubs and on my stereo.
Mine too! I am usually looking at him as he is singing that part and saying out loud while I am smiling, Sing Man! Every single time I hear it. It's phenomenal.
C’mon who DID’NT get up when this track came on, the whole floor was full and strutting. If you were lucky enough to live during that time the memories are amazing. ✌️
Just to add that here in the UK , popular disco bands were Heatwave with Boogie Nights written by Rod Temperton ,who went on to write Rock with you and Thriller for Michael Jackson. Also a group called Imagination who had hits with Just an Illusion and Flashback-both good to Boogie to.
I "couldn't get enough" of the grit in Jimmy Ellis' voice! Being a classic rock lover, I tried not to like ANY disco! But there was no denying the infectiousness of this song , and that funky bassline. And yeah Amber, we did know how to party!😉
One of the few disco tracks that stood out from the many for me. Great vocals, great bass, great horns etc. Most disco was boring and repetitive for me
Jimmy Ellis the lead singer gave it so much soul and grit to all their songs, sadly he passed away a few years ago from Alzheimer's. A true gem of a singer. Another fantastic song by The Trammps is called. Where the happy people go.
It's burnin' from the top! Thumpin bass, rhythmic high hat and the classic beat. If you want to know where that roof started on fire, it started right here 🎶🎶🕺
This was fire on the disco dance floor !! 🔥💥🎷🎺🎸🥁🪩🪩🪩 The Trammps we’re so good & I love the lead singer & how he is having such a good time & smiling, the moves were fantastic & those horns such a big part of disco !
The Towering Inferno was a popular disaster movie at the time. The Twin Towers in NYC were still new, and a movie about being trapped in a major high rise fire hit the zeitgeist perfectly. This song trailed right on that train and became an instant hit.
In 1973 the weekend started on Thursday night and ended Sunday morning. We used to cruise from one bar/nightclub to another, dancing and drinking. It would end Sunday morning at a diner. I was 19 and I am thankful.
I feel like I am in Groundhogs Day every time you play Disco, I was out dancing almost every night & this was one of my favorite songs to dance to. The best time of my life
Guys, you just needed to live in the 70's because we had the best music, the hard rock of Zeppelin,Aerosmith,Rush,Boston,Bad Company, etc,AND Motown,AND funky disco!🎶👊
You two are so cute. I used to teach disco dance lessons in the 70's in Kansas City area. This was a main tune I used. We were all getting our John Travolta's on.
Love this song so much. When this song came on at the disco, I was ALWAYS inspired to get up and out on the dance floor, even if I had to dance by myself! This song had the BEST bass line EVER for dancing. Many thanks to The Trammps!!
I would love to go back in time, and take you two to Chicago’s best club …… The Bistro. ….. it was huge, and had a stainless steel dance floor that wore out in 6 months! Of course it had gogo dancing boys, and a great light show and sound system! In Chicago, it was open til 4 am Monday -Thursday, and 5 am in Friday & Saturday!! It was the best. When Elton John and greats like Barry Manilow were performing in town, the Bistro is where they went after!! Too much fun! I’ll save a spot on the dance floor for ya! 🥂😜💃🏻
I agree THIS is some Funky Disco! Is there Anyone Who DOESN'T want to get up on the Dance Floor when this song starts? Not that I'd do it justice out there... :) Love It!!! I can imagine both of You Guys Out There In The Day Using Up ALL Your Energy! Great Choice! :)
I was about 11 when Disco was at it's peak and I cannot express to you how infectious this music was. I my 6th grade class our PE period was learning the Hustle! Best party music ever!
I’m such a pushover for the horns. Love to see a dozen guys on the stage just jamming. KC & the Sunshine Band, Earth, Wind & Fire, the Dazz Band…good times.
LOVE 💕 this song and this band and your reactions. So much more fun watching this with you than alone with my phone.🤠 It's clear that you two can't sit still during this music, just like all of us then
Philly Soul was the start of disco, the band MFSB (Mother Father Sister Brother) was the heart of the Philly Soul sound, and the Trammps were the singing rhythm section of MFSB. Y'all really got right to it today! 😄 The title, at least, was inspired by the movie The Towering Inferno, which y'all should check out.
Disco was an insane movement. This is the greatest disco hit of all time. Amazing arrangement. You had to squeeze to get on the dance floor. Thank you, John Travolta.

Love to hear percussion!! 🎶
I used to Love dancing to that 💃 🕺 ❤
I love Gloria's rendition!!!
Such a tune. 1 of my all time favourites…ticks all my boxes!!
I'm a hard rock/metal guy but I love any song or music that makes you shake your ass and dance like a crazy fool like this song does. Long live Disco!!! It's all about letting loose and having fun. De stress people!!!
Everyone was out on the floor dancing when this song came on
It truly was a magical decade to grow up in. So many different styles of music to love!! ❤
After the disco era we lost a lot of fantastic singers. Such a shame people said they hated disco. WHY?
It began as a creation of the Black and Latin LGBT dance scene. Disco’s first big star was trans Sylvester and his backup singers- Two Tons of Fun ( later the Weather Girls) “ You Make Me Feel Mighty Real”!
Another great group is The Travares. They had about a dozen hits, including - Heaven Must Be Missing An Angel (1976)
Tavares were one of the best disco groups.
My Fave of many
Yeah, Tavares! I sing Heaven Must Be Missing an Angel to my grandkids!!!
@Julie Martin. Go check out Edwin Starr's song: 25 Miles... It's his best song! 😊
The whole Rock Your Baby album is great.
Almost 50 years later....still blows me away.
OH NO! This was the song that got everyone on the floor. So many nights in the club.
Used to roller skate to this as a kid. Loved this song. Then rappers delight came out alll riiight!
Thanks L reed, you know their history better than I do, I just loved their funky sound and Rod Temperton's songwriting.
This is the greatest song from the whole disco era pure magic
I feel like I am in Groundhogs Day every time you play Disco, I was out dancing almost every night & this was one of my favorite songs to dance to. The best time of my life
Such a fun song! It was great listening to this kind of music when I was a kid.
This song is epitome of a classic. Great song. Grooveline by Heatwave is the best disco tune imo. Anyone remember that great bass line??
It was a great time for music for certain. As always, Amber’s reactions are genuine and insightful. Thanks for your work.
Guys, you just needed to live in the 70's because we had the best music, the hard rock of Zeppelin,Aerosmith,Rush,Boston,Bad Company, etc,AND Motown,AND funky disco!🎶👊
It was better to be a kid in the 70's. the best times of my life!
For Female Friday, try Thelma Houston's "Don't Leave Me This Way"--a disco classic.
You two are so cute. I used to teach disco dance lessons in the 70's in Kansas City area. This was a main tune I used. We were all getting our John Travolta's on.
"I did not think yall's generation knew how to party..."
You're so adorable, Amber. You couldn't handle a '70s/'80s party. 😂
70s party right here ............ the 80s were not even in diapers yet lol
Amber said it all!!! Nothing compares to those dancing songs!!!! 🙏♥️😘
From the Saturday Night Fever soundtrack! Burn that Mother down!!
Love this song so much. When this song came on at the disco, I was ALWAYS inspired to get up and out on the dance floor, even if I had to dance by myself! This song had the BEST bass line EVER for dancing. Many thanks to The Trammps!!
Another great “funky” disco song was Kool & The Gang’s “Open Sesame”.
💯%!!!!
Always loved dancing to this song! Will never be a time like the Disco era!
The Trammps' song 'That's Where the Happy People Go' was another hit in mid 70s! One of my favorites as a kid.
Also....best line ever "I couldn't get enough....so I had to self destruct!!" Love it
LOVE 💕 this song and this band and your reactions.
If you believe that you know nothing about disco
Philly soul/R & B, MFSB was a huge part of the early years of disco. I was there. @@josehenriquez-t8y
You're in for a real treat with this one
Disco was an insane movement. This is the greatest disco hit of all time. Amazing arrangement. You had to squeeze to get on the dance floor. Thank you, John Travolta.
These were the most amazing songs to dance to.. everyone just wanted to dance.. everyone got along and enjoyed the music ❤
I havent heard this song in over 40 years. It still sounds just as good as it did when i saw the movie Satyrday Night Fever. Love yall fir reacting to this hit.
Loved growing up at this time
Yes! ☮️👗💃
We tore this up on the disco dance floor! Too much fun!
There're a lot of disco tunes I lerve, but this is definitely one of my faves! Glad you enjoyed it!!
When I walked into the disco with my white shoes, my red, white, and blue pinstriped high waisted bell bottoms, and my white silk shirt with the top 3 buttons undone and my gold coke spoon and chain around my neck.....it was party time!😂🤣💯❤️✌️
This was all over the clubs in 76.
You’re right brother, 1977-78 was the most fun you can imagine. The clubs were on fire!
What a boogie-fest!! Have a Thrilling Thursday!!
