They've been making it clear with their shows that they dont want you to read the books. They dont like books because they have cool ideas that they want to use but want to do it in their own way. Thats what they did to eu and now they are doing it to their own stuff

I'm sick with Disney retconning the lore of Star Wars.
Tales of the Empire was a huge let down. I don't and will never give a damn about Morgan Elsbeth. It's just more slop and I was really hoping that wouldn't be the case.

Sorry, but Morgan Elsbeth isn't an interesting character and they killed the potential Bariss could've had. She would've been a far more interesting character if they didn't choose to go with the basic ass Filoni slop redemption arc.

@@trevturp6891 Her introduction to canon as Nightsister is a joke. Before only Zabraks were Nightsisters, but she is a mere human. YET another human, which is boring. They couldn't come up with a real Nightsister like Merrin, Talzin, Ventress, Karis, Naa'leth (who are all female Dathomirian Zabraks by the way according to new canon).

Now that I think of it....if Morgan Elsbeth is behind the Defender, why is the factory on Lothal and not Corellia? Why would they care that much about funding then, if this is a pet project sponsored by an Industrialist? Also, why is Morgan an Industrialist? Did the Nightsisters establish some Trust Fund somewhere?

Well the StarWars.com summery of the episode did say she made it but I agree with you about everything.
I think You are all forgetting one thing: Morgan Elsbeth manufactures starships and extracts raw minerals. Therefor, it makes sense that her company, not Morgan herself, by the way, designed this mutiple-role starfighter.
Thrawn just pushed the model from the design phase into the prototype stage.

Also Pellaeon could have simply been transfered to the Third Fleet inbetween the events of "Thrawn: Treason" and the episode.
In the book it is never stated that the two knew each other from past experiences.
@@alessiocapone9816 but what I am saying is that we know for a fact that thrawn pitched the idea for a new fighter to taken who allowed him to meet with sienar fleet systems to design the fighter. And even if Sienar fleet systems met with morgan's company to design it which they did not thrawn would have already knew about her assistance and the show presented it like he has just discovered the fighter for the first time

It wasn't even named as a Defender then: it was still in the early design stages and did not pass Moff Isdain's short-sighted judgement.
In conclusion: Thrawn mearly succeded in getting Sienar Fleet Systems to begin considering mass production.
Was it not Grand Admiral Demetrius Zaarin who created the Defender?

They ret-conned that after Disney took over and made it EU. Now in cannon Thrawn with the help of sienar fleet systems made the defender (until now that is).
I noticed too when I watched Tales of The Empire that yes they did change it to where Morgan Elizbeth designed the Tie Defender. The best way I think I can understand why they did the break is to make it simpler for people to draw the connections or at least that is my reasoning. While I am also a huge lore nerd on Star Wars and I am disappointed in Tales of The Empire to some degree with what they did with Bariss in the end, the show was a 6 out of 10 for me personally. Then yet again from my understanding this was made by Dave Filoni or at least he supervised it and problay had the final call on breaking the newer Thrawn Tribology since I've noticed a pattern with Disney trying to phase out book media from Star Wars first with the Ahoska Novel which in my opinion I am actually fine with that change and now this which I can see why people are upset about.

@Swarmah i wish we got the grand inquisitor's backstory, instead of him just being there already the exact same way he always is, he is such a weird character, like wasn't he supposed to have been inspired by Bariss ? Why is that never even mentioned? he doesn't have a real name
@@UnluckyCantaloupe4 he had some kind of name, and he was temple guard, and yes, his story would be the best to chose here to show for them. But i guess they wanted to show bariss, which nobody asked for and whats her name , who nobody cares about.
With the book and game media, Disney seems to be reverting to the old school (pre-Disney) philosophy of having a split between the *main* canon (the main movies and designated shows) and a separate EU for everything else. That EU could be taken from and referenced by the canon material, but the canon material could also contradict it and do something else, decanonizing whatever details it was overriding. It would be a little odd when the stories that had details disproven by new materials in canon were still *canon to* the EU, but people lived with it.
The problem now is… they are basically operating under this model again while the audience is still operating under the “everything is canon” model they told us about. I mean, it’s almost inevitable that Filoni would operate this way if left to his own devices (he’s an EU fan, who also worked with George and adopted his model for dealing with the EU while making a canon show for him,) but they probably just shouldn’t have told us “everything is canon” in the first place and then we wouldn’t be having this conversation as much.
Darn that's really unfortunate. I agree I love both the old and new Thrawn books and I think Timothy Zahn is an amazing writer. Perhaps the production of Tales of the Empire was rushed (although it seems a little out of style for Dave Filoni to let something like this slide, then again he did work on the whole new sequel trilogy so) but yea. In my experience, with Disney its either a hit or miss tbh, at least the graphics were really good and the story was semi-interesting.

Well Disney has been decannonizing many parts of beloved cannon books nowadays and they are replacing it with anything better in fact they almost always make it worse

We are talking about books that were specifically said to be canon.
Lucasfilm considers the comics to be canon. They're on the timeline.

It's not that they don't care. They're actively changing it (just enough) to avoid having to pay royalties. You should read up on how they did Alan Dean Foster with the ESB re-release. It's literally the same thing.
