- I managed to get out to the treehouse to film a quick camping video for this Thursday. We are about a week away from being out on the acreage for good, so things will smooth out and resume the typical upload schedule. Cheers to all and please hunker down and stay safe out there.

The fact you suggested people donate to something else says a lot about you Steve. You’re a great guy, mate. We all get enjoyment out of your videos and wish you all the best and you seem like a really decent person. Stay healthy and safe.
Totally agree
Steve is THE BEST quarantine entertainment. Hunkering down in Florida 🤙🏻
He's isolating the shit out of himself.
I agree the middle of nowhere sounds great to me.
Stay safe!
Same here in Florida. What town are you located at?
Mate, hunkering down in Queensland Australia...be safe buddies
Steve, my goal in life is to have as chill of a temperament as you do. The whole world seems to have lost it's collective mind, and your video brought me back to the reality that everything's ok and we're all gonna be good. Thanks, bro
We will be alright but it seems we might have to fight to live a free life. These "world leaders" seem to all envy China so they are trying it in tbeir country. The "stay safe OR ELSE" attitude should be a huge wakeup call for everyone.
"Rughts aren't rights if someone can just take them away"
Agreed though, these videos remind me of what I want, a simple life.
Shit he prolly just "hunkerin" down and dodgin the FEDS! LOL he lookeded kinda nervous and shit like he been out there cooking shake and bake dope and getting his daily fluid intake from yankee steel RESERVE. Dont set the 32 oz. Gatorade bottle down and dont stop swirlin it or it'll blow up on ya.. jkjk .... no but for real I bet it's way easier to get ephedrine up there huh? ..... oh well there ain't been real dope since the 80s anyway.. stay off the crack and dont do the FLOCKA FLOP..! 👌
Steve is currently my therapy for getting thru covid-19, oh!- and also the Pocket Girls, them too.
@@Quoteunquot3 yeah the other day resident in thief said it was his job to protect Americans.
WRONG. It's his job to protect the constitution and secure our rights!!
His vids relax me and make me wish all I had to do in life was live off the land and hunker down.
U seem like one of the most genuine and no bs guy I have ever seen on UA-cam. Keep it up.
He is. 💞
my opinion too....
He definitely is
You now realize why he has over half a million subscribers and gets millions of views
There’s a quiet modesty and a kindness to these videos that just soothe the soul.
I’m dying. “The trees are getting bigger” the boards dried out, steve
I know, I'm laughing, it is killin' me.
Funnier if he puts them tight now when it gets warm and humid and they expand.
The tree house is bolted to 4 trees, thats what he ment🤦🏻♂️
This is why we use seasoned wood.
Don't trees grow like Jack and the Bean Stalk? hahaha
"for some reason, everything seems to be closed" LOL
I'm glad that he didn't say the reason. Sick of hearing it. The new C-word.
If he says Coronavirus youtube will demonetize right away, lots of channels are doing the same .

“for some reason everything’s closed”. And a Corona beer. Steve’s got jokes!
I been laughing about that.
We can't find a moving company "for some reason" LOL...this guy is GREAT!
I wonder what the reason was? Hmm...
Kind of a reality version of “Red Green Show” for the 21st century. Love the show thanks for the distraction, we need it.
I am a man, i can change, if i have too, i guess
Jon Johnson when my younger brother and I discovered Red Green back in the 1970s not many of our American friends shared our love for the show, but I still watch it to this day, thanks to U-Tube. Keep Your Stick on the Ice.
James Summerlin youtube is a wonderful place, eh?
I recall a sketch called “the winter of our discount tent” on red green.
Steve: “There’s a lot of air gaps in here”
Tarp in background: Blows gently wide open in the breeze 😅
Seriously. Like why not tuck it inside.
That tarp blowing wide open was killing me.
I was like, Steve, dude, it may be a little warmer in there with the heater if you tighten down that tarp flap in the back behind you. And," The snow must have gotten in through the gaps in the boards," as the tarp flaps open gently in the breeze behind him. 😂😂😂 Keep up the great content Steve!
whats a tarp when youve got propane?
Dude. You're an adult with a tree house. Damn I'm jealous!
Who is using frying oil and dollar store sparklers to make a bon fire...
I'm more jealous of his 24 acres...

Please don’t change your style, no music in the background, no b-roll. Thanks. Just raw material.
If you watch his old documentary Boondocking, there's lots of background music and b-roll and the style is just very different. Great either way.
Yea these camp guys always get a few thousand subs and decide they need B-roll and shitty country music in the background
Ok yeah make your demands but you go ahead and pay him then. His channel. He can do whatever he wants with it. Thanks.
No cartoon drop-in’s
DaveJones Gaming if we watch his content than technically we are paying him, he makes money from ad revenue which he gets from “us”, how is that hard to understand pea brain
Strange how youtube works, but you start to grow attached to the people you watch. You start wondering how their doing, and if they are alright. Steve, hope everything is OK with you bud. Love your content, love your realness. You seem like an everyday Canadian I would hang out with. God bless, love the civil war era moustache lol. you wear it well
Why not pray for them? I do, I ask in the name of Jesus that God blesses these UA-camrs, makes them and their families invisible to the enemy, and has mercy on their souls that they may find God Almighty and spend eternity with him.
I always think this and thought this when i found this while stuck in bed with a tyroid thing. I just watched something random and it became a great show and way to pass time when I really need it.
Steve I watch all your video it has helped me through the winter so far binge watching your channel thanks from Missouri, Leanin.
Steve, we’re gonna need some “hunker down” or “step 2” beer koozies! Stay well!
Yes! For sure
Please!!
I would buy some too
yes Steve, Beer Koozies please .......
Yeah I would buy a nice simple beer koozie for like 5 or 10 bucks

"We built this thing without a level, and without a plan..." 🤣
Some people listen to gentle music or sounds of nature to relax themselves before bed.
I hunker down with the sounds of Steve camping!
Great Steve thanks alot. Needed this distraction. Hunker down has a global meaning now. Stay safe from the UK.
Steve, your boards have spaces because they've been outside in the dry Alberta climate losing moisture, which causes them to shrink. All the best from your neck of the woods.
Shrink indeed .
Yep...the green treated decking boards I used horizontally on the walls of my treehouse shrank too once they dried out...have quarter inch gaps between all the boards...and they aren't even screwed to real trees (6" x 6" beams sunk into the ground vertically)...so I know the tree growth was a non factor. Besides, the trees moisture is in the roots during winter...so they're not growing right now.
Yes, exactly this.
Yes, came to the comments to find this.
Steve never heard of shrinkage? :-P
One of the best channels out there. Steve... you are the man!!!!
I will continue to watch every second you put out Steve. Please continue doing watch you do. Thanks so much for countless laughs and relaxing step 2's. We love you man!
I’ve heard that hemp rope is good for filling in contracting & expanding wooded planks. Tap it in the gaps and it has give and take.
Oakum
@@twohseven YUP!
They actually make foam backer rods of various sizes to fill gaps like that.
What hemp rope?
@Sparkymax lol except you don't smoke hemp 😁
Im from SK and was at the bar last week and a lady mentioned she wanted another step 2. Then proceeded to spread your channel to other patrons

Watching you just chilling by yourself and enjoying the cold always brings a smile to my face.
I love the little Easter eggs in this video. "All of the moving companies are gone for some reason", proceeds to open up a Corona Step-2. Lol.
Wood Planks: We shrink as we dry out
Steve: I think the trees are getting bigger
Haha hilarious
Those would be some huge trees if they grew that fast. lol
Aldy I would have not thought wood that has been laid out on a place for who knows how long would have had any shrink left in them.
I learned about wood shrinking after building a pier and spacing the boards with a piece of base trim, by the time the new green wood dried out you could drop a phone between some of the planks.
Jason Burson yea totally I hear ya, thing is wood constantly swells and shrinks based on its moisture content (if were gettin technical lol) so I mean hell, if it sat there and got rain on er, it would swell, then dry out and shrink. Rinse and repeat! I get a kick out of guys building privacy fences with the boards tucked tight... then a week or two goes by and theyre scratchin the ol noggin askin what happend lol
Aldy down here in Texas it pretty much just dries out and never moistens back up
Jason Burson haha well ya got me there! Stay safe down there south of the border eh! 👍
Good to see you! I can’t count the times recently I’ve heard doctors, government officials, UA-camrs and the like say “Hunker Down”. ‘Till later!

One of your most simple and yet most lyrical videos. What a beautiful shot of your paradise at 9:40 ... I cant tell you enough just how much I love your content. Thank you!!
Lived in a tiny log cabin in the 90's In interior of BC. Christmas95 was so cold and windy one night I woke up cold. Thought geez is colder than usual. Looked from my loft bed and thought well those Christmas lights way up the hill there look cool. Almost was asleep again when I realized that there was no window in that wall! Was so cold the birch logs shrunk and the moss chinking blew out in the high winds. I could put my hand through in places. Have a feeling the boards shrunk on you.
Enjoyed reading that little story! :)
@@lloydus_maximus Thanks!
"Its not too cold out here today," he says. Snow on the ground and the beer is frozen. That's cold in my book. Love the tree house. Watched you and crazy neighbor build it.
"I know I'm sitting in a forest full of wood, but..." - pulls out bag of dollar store wood. "The biggest thing that I’m concerned about to be honest right now is that this thing is going to fall apart.” - 5min later: "This thing sure creaks up here" - continues talking about canned chicken. Steve is the best.
I find Steve’s voice very soothing & relaxing
He should narrate.
Legend has it that the trees are still getting bigger somehow
How are they doing that? Haha.
As an experienced deer stand builder I can tell you that trees sway, and that is probably part of your structural problems. Just wait until you have leaves on the trees to catch the wind. Your four corners will twist and turn in some funky ways. If you really want to build a tree fort it sort of needs to float up in the tree, not totally secured in a typical fashion to a sturdy complete base. Good luck!
You're right. These are some stressful times for many people. Glad you have some open spaces around to keep you and beautiful wife safe n healthy. Keep keeping it real man by not worrying about things beyond our control and asking your beer fund donations to go somewhere more useful. 👍Stay home and keep healthy.
Well, Steve... Ya built with warm morning wood and then left the fly down. Shrinkage is inevitable. Always keep your wood warm, the misses will thank you.
Lol @ " Warm Morning wood"!

Wood shrinks in cold weather as well as when it dries out causing gaps
Yeah, winter air is much drier than it seems, drys those boards out good and proper.
Lots of ways to fix what he has there though. Ship lap is probably the way to do it. The bigger problem is the tarps and keeping the trees together, and hopefully the roof is good-to-go.

“No helicopters overhead.... yet”. Thanks for the laughs. Enjoy your property.
wood moves, thus the invention of "tongue and groove" .. you built with wet wood and it shrank, by using a tongue and groove the wood can expand and contract without gaps.. is easier than it sounds.
Dave Satosky you sir are absolutely correct. I said out loud why they shrank when Steve was thinking about it lol
@T Wilson id love to, advice can also be helpful. bruh lol
Shove some moss or.... Newspaper the gaps since everything seems to be covered with flippin snow
@@mumfordalien1794 Mud works, too.
Overlapping ship lap works best then there is no horizontal gap. Water sheds of the lower edges. You can still do it with square edge boards if that’s all you have.
