Bonus info (I asked sam about it, he shot the video): This was shot in june of last year in drumheller, canada in a place called horseshoe canyon. OH and: It's his 34th birthday TODAY!
When you said “Name another artist” that was exactly my thoughts, Ren is the most diverse artist I can remember and I’m 60 in a couple of weeks, every generation has a genius above all others. Now is Rens generation and we’re here for it ❤️
When Ren plays the piano, it’s like we’re watching his fingers dancing. They were dancing for Callum and for all those we’ve lost…..those we were thinking of whilst we watched 💜🪽
man, when Ren talks about "pimping my pain"...dude has, sadly, loads of material. this was just very very sweet and simple, and that is the perfect shirt for this video
He was in the premier chat letting us know that this was written for Callum, but since there were no words that we should think of anyone we loved that are no longer with us while listening, that it's really for all of them. Not only does Ren lift up those he loves, he constantly shares/reposts fan art. He's just extra, and a breath of fresh air in today's society.
The backstory of how he lost his two best friends is brutal in a short span of time...but the way he honored their memory is priceless.. Rest in Peace Joe and Calum And Happy birthday to Ren ,his twin Birthday boy was also Calum.. Wonderful tribute ❤❤
I may be wrong but I think that Ren said their birthdays were just close to each other but they almost always celebrated them on the same day. Either way what a devastating loss to have someone you shared something so special with
My support worker just put me on to Ren she discovered him going down a rabbit hole on UA-cam and he is legit a freaking phenomenon! Totally a league of his own. I can't understand how he has not blown up and known by everyone? Much love from Adelaide South Australia 🇦🇺
We can tick 'composer' off the list of things Ren is incredible at!!! I love this so much!!! I lost my Dad a little over a year ago. Everyday I picture leaning over my Dad trying to resuscitate him... When I listen to this close my eyes and picture every happy moment that my Dad and I shared. For this, I say thank you, Ren, for sharing this with us. 💔❤️
(Callum is pronounced "Cah-lum" and MacKay is pronounced "Mac-Eye"). Loved this piece of music - while it had sadness in it it also had joy and "uplift", a song to celebrate the good times but also to acknowledge the sadness of a life ended too soon. Loved your reaction as always
I listened to this while remembering moments with my Nanny, i felt a sense of inner peace and it made me feel happy remembering her for the first time since she passed away in September.
Ren isn't the only person sharing positivity in their content: kudos to you Mr Cliff for also being real and positive and sharing that positivity with us, you know the world needs it. Much love
I found your channel recently, subscribed right away! You are thoughtful and have interesting comments on your reactions. Thank you. I love reliving first listens to music from my youth and am finding new music, like Ren, through your channel. Thanks!😊
yeah, Ren and Callum had the same birthday From Su!c!de: "...I miss chilling by the pier cave and kicking back With Callum, Hugo, Sagar, Justin, Stevie and the fuckin' lads..." Callum died shortly after Joe.
This is so beautiful, and evokes both his pain and Callums, but also... Ren is slowly healing at last, he's been purging the pain and the guilt about not being there when Joe died, and did not actually want help anymore. Not blaming Joein anyway, but he chose his way out, and that was not and never was Ren's fault.
He said so much without words. 💔 I hope you get the chance to catch up with Ren in person when he is in America this year. I know he's not in Chicago, just NY and LA, but would love it if you got to meet up. You've been threatening to set up a gig for him for like 18months, so fingers crossed.
A TRUE ARTIST love your reaction what a tribute to his friend what amazing strength and positivity he as overcome and sooooo earned god bless WARRINGTON UK 🇬🇧
Ive been a newbie sub for a minute...... I just wanted to drop you a message to express how much I appreciate what you've been doing lately on your UA-cam channel. Your decision to step aside from your usual routine and offer your time to listen to others is incredibly selfless and inspiring. It takes a special kind of person to prioritize the well-being of others in the way you have. Your compassion and generosity haven't gone unnoticed.....Your UA-cam channel has been a source of entertainment and enlightenment for me, especially with your insightful music reactions. Your ability to dissect songs and share your love for music in such a relatable way is truly remarkable. However, what I find even more impressive is your willingness to listen to anyone who needs support. It's a testament to your versatility as a content creator and, more importantly, as a human being. Thank you for using your platform to spread positivity and offer a listening ear to those who need it Much Love & Respect
I just asked Sam if it was him or Josh who shot this video n he said he did but Josh was also there helping...Immense kuddos to both gentlemen n Ren for this superb masterpiece 💝
Truly, one of a kind music artist we are witnessing today. Ren is a beautiful soul and we are so lucky to have him share his life with us. Thank you Cliff for your strength and support. You make me feel safe.
If in doubt, most British pronunciations use short vowel sounds. Not all but as a rule of thumb, it'll steer you right more often than not. With 'Callum' both the 'a' and the 'u' are short vowel sounds. It's 'a' as in happy or sad and 'u' as in bug or glum. Hence 'Cal-lum'. There's also a slight emphasis on the first syllable, 'Cal'. Hope that helps. Great reaction, btw, as alays! :)
Btw, I didn't go into the pronunciation of 'Mackay' because there are at least 3 different pronunciations of that surname and have no idea which was the correct pronunciation here. :) RIP Callum Mackay.
It’s so beautiful and emotional. Gets me every time I listen to it 😢❤. RIP to the other guy ( forgot his name) who jumped in trying to save Callum and also died. 2 tragic deaths
One of my best friends is also called Callum MacKay (Caa luhm MacKigh) and I'm very happy he's still with us, but I had goosebumps listening to this yesterday, it's so beautiful. I laughed at the face you made at 3.14 like, of fucking course this guy can do this. Awesome reaction as always friend.
You are always so great with words and get to say everything that needs to be said. Truly a beautiful heart. Thanks Cliff Beats. And Ren - he's just amazing. Who else can make incarnate rappers sit and listen, really listen, to classical music than Ren? Have seen it in several places on UA-cam here in the last day or so. But okay; without using words, he gets to say a whole lot with this track. I myself felt it deep in my heart and a tear just came... Happy birthday to both Callum and Ren ❤
very powerfull! Ren deserves all the flowers we can give him..❤ with regards to reaching out when feeling low i wont go into details on here but thank you cliff .. just a few words once in a while on insta have really helped.. and i am very thankfull for your kindness.. much love bruv..❤
I'm grateful that I grew up listening to musicians. Ren has undeniable skills for his age, and I highly appreciate that he is bringing back music appreciation 💓 When you said, "name an artist." I rambled off a list of a dozen. If I'm only going to share one Michel Camilo for example, his track "From Within" But, just sticking to pianists, I could list a hundred other instrumentalists, here are artists that could plop down at the piano and change your life. *In no particular order Harold O'Neal Thelonious Monk Dr. John (Mac Rebennack) Jon Batiste Eliane Elais Stevie Wonder Duke Ellington Professor Longhair Jack McDuff I have always wished that people had grown up with my Dad's record collection. Ren: He plays multiple instruments at a very high level (acoustic, electric, bass guitar, piano). He makes most of his beats, sings beautifully all genres, with a huge range, raps (all types from melodic to super fast), he beatboxes, composes his own music for singing and instruments, he is a bardcore, a story telling minstrel with his guitar. He is a producer of all his music and videos, he is a director, he is an actor, he does many (live..one take videos), he has done all his videos of a budget of $2000 or less, the exception was MG3. He has a talented crew of friends that help him with all I mentioned, but he has the talent to do it all if need be. He is also a top notch sound engineer. In his bts videos, he has filmed and has done his own camera work for some of his videos. So he is familiar with that part as well. He has done this all while fighting an debilitating illness. He speaks on behalf of many sick people both physically and mentally. I'm sure I forgot some of his other skills but that should cover it. That is what Cliff means by "find me another artist who compares to this multi-talented man". There are none today that have that many exceptional skills combined. I can think of no other independent artist or those signed by the big label out there today. Many artist you mentioned are very talented musicians and artists, and indeed excel in certain areas. I don't see them having (all his skills and talents combined). He is one of a kind right now (my opinion), but the list of all his talents and accomplishments are facts, he has many music videos and tracks to prove it.
@@kellyt5341 I wasn't thinking about that. I guess maybe Weird Al (but he isn't independent), or Cab Callaway (though he didn't get a chance to be a director, I think he would have been good)? Maybe it's a sign that the musicians of our age will be more well rounded in videography. I certainly can't think of anyone that was as accomplished as Ren by 32!!!!
@@brettAnichols Weird Al's voice is not that sonically pleasing to my ears. Ren has charisma, charm, a beautiful personality and swag. He attracts people like magnets, he has sex appeal and he is a good looking 34 yr old male. Sorry just stating the facts. He has the "it" factor. He could have signed very lucrative contracts by now because the industry wants him bad. He talked about a few meetings with them. He cares about mankind, the earth and getting his message out there. He wants to do his music without any restrictions and big money isn't his priority. There are likely similar independent artists out there with similar goals but not the total package. PS there was no such thing as independent artist in our day. The underground artists made up demo tapes always trying to get the radio station to play it or have a producer hear it. This was so they could get a big record deal with the vultures. 😔

He wore the Sublime sweatshirt on his Birthday last year and also for this video. Callum mentioned as a mate in Joe song
At 3:28 a butterfly flys right by ren, he notices it. So beautiful! Great reaction ❤️
He didn't say anything, and yet he said so much. The power of music, and Ren has mastered it.
It was transcendent. Told my husband to play it at my funeral. Beautiful song, beautiful reaction. Happy birthday to ren and to you, cliff! ❤
