Have you got any tips on IPA alternatives for those of us in the UK for cleaning? I'd love to try that resin but reluctant to bring more hazardous chemicals into the house (using water washable atm, but it's a bit brittle)
The resin you’re using will be far more hazardous than IPA. IPA is the same as surgical spirit, can be used on skin, though overexposure not recommended! Water washable resin highly toxic, and when you’ve washed your print, you’re left with a tub of contaminated water that can’t be poured down the drain. If you’re worried about hazardous chemicals, try Anycubic eco resin, still toxic when liquid but minimal smell and once cured it’s no longer toxic and can be composted.

Yeah, these are awesome; I've been a patron for a while, and currently putting together a small Alien Hive army (I'm thinking I might do some Battle Sisters to pit against them afterwards). I printed 750pts (a small force) in a weekend on my Mars 2 Mono (which cost me £190), and resin-wise, it's cost me less than a fiver for 27 models including their bases (when you're setting up your slicer program, you tell it how much the resin was and it'll calculate how much each print run is costing you). Heck, even the enormous Artillery Beast I printed as a side project took me one day of printing and about 2 quid. And their rules are pretty awesome, too. Simple but fun, with room for expandability, and _free._
keep in mind that some slicers either entirely don't or don't accurately count supports in the cost. that said, its doubtful even at the worst case (it doesnt count it at all) its probably only 10-20% more. but it is a factor
They don’t care, not really, if they did they’d improve their community approach and realise that by charging less they sway people back to buying things again, but they won’t. They have not changed in 21 years, since I last played 40K.
Love it. Always a pleasure/inspiration. Looking forward to the day historical miniatures are available to 3D print in large numbers/lots of variety so I never need to look at or try and base around another pudding base again
quick tip for removing supports if you hit the supports with a hairdryer to heat them up they will start to warp and you can easy removing of the supports and they should leave a nice clean surface. i love my 3d resin printers. great video. :) also if you want fast prints you need a mono resin printer. i am able to print 100mm tall models in under 3 hours. :)
Super-inspirational. Can't wait to get my saurian army built up. Working on my gators now at 150% scale to the warriors. Looks killer! I'm gonna use that square base to make a few small bands.
Got a resin 3D printer a year ago, haven't bought any miniatures since. Unless you want to go to "official" tournaments and events, 3D printing is the coolest thing ever for us into gaming, painting and modeling in general. Congrats on the great video, BTW! I really like your content, so entertaining!
Contrary to buddy bitching in the comments I see this as a potential golden age for the hobby. Dedicated design teams doing both minis and rules that can be used interchangeably has the potential to give us beautiful armies and good/fun games to play with them. The only issue I see is a way to get the FLGS in on a piece of the pie. They provide a useful service in the form of a dedicated venue and need to pay for rent.
As a Veteran of the Long War, I can assure you that proxying is nothing new. There have always been other manufacturers around and as long as you weren't playing in a GW store or event, there was never anything GW could (or can) do about it. There was even a time when GW used other manufacturers in their publications.
I just started printing this set a few days ago for kings of war, painting them in four colors and applying a brown enamel wash! Pretty much exactly like this!
Given their recent practices, it would probably be a good thing if ALL crafting/warhammer content creators started doing this. If GW wants to screw the fans, the fans should return the favour....
I bought the Anycubic zero & wash/cure station with 1L resin for £170. I have also fallen in love with 3D printing (even at entry-level the detail is high). I mainly print small busts, miniatures & scale vehicles/scenery. I'm looking forward to getting a huge printer next year :) Hope to see more of your 3D printing adventures :)
3:08 Blew my mind!! 🤯🤯🤯 I had no idea I've been over curing, I just thought 3d prints were very brittle and sensitive, really turned me off to the whole process.

Heey, one question, do they have the same scale as the real tomb kings(28mm)? I mean for example lost kingdom has bigger models and it requires a rescale of the minis. The pillars are in the same patreon?
Great stuff. As you have multiple printers this might not be an issue for you, but I recommend you get some Wham Bam magnetic steel sheets for your printers. Using these you can get the prints off without using a scrapper and you can get the printer running again while you are washing the prints. For those with one printer, it's a major time saver, and you end up with less damage from getting them off the bed. Just a suggestion.
100% on the printed army idea. We are running a 40k Slow Grow campaign (slowly add units and learn new parts of the rules) with my school club. Myself and one of my original members are printing 9 armies at 500pts to start, growing to 1500pt. The models are ones that he and I have bought or are free downloads. There are 16 in the campaign, but 9 are fully printed armies. of the 9, 8 are girls new to the hobby. (So for all those people who complain the its taking money away from GW, these people would never have started collecting - now they are starting into the whole hobby experience). Love your bases. Enjoy your batch painting. Thanks for the video.

@@Psyxe1 Oh, no... you mean it might have cost me _six_ quid to print my Hive..? 😭
😂
@@Brickerbrack I'm afraid so. You'll have to scrap the whole thing and reprint at 98% size to squeeze those pennies
Fantastic vid, now i am seriously thinking of getting a 3D printer. Also, love your bases and color choices, nice!
This is fantastic - disenfrancised with GW for the umpteenth time in my many years of gaming and really galvanising me to try and play 1PR
One Page rules is my only constant patreon that I have, I jump around with a couple of others, it is so much quality for the price you pay,
Those came out brilliantly, and your bases look awesome. Must remember to support you and buy some stuff!
Glad to see you’ve converted over to us 3D printing lads. Give it a few years and GW is going to start getting really worried
They don’t care, not really, if they did they’d improve their community approach and realise that by charging less they sway people back to buying things again, but they won’t. They have not changed in 21 years, since I last played 40K.
I love OPR! I don't have a printer but I really love the rules and that it is 'miniatures agnostic'. Great video!
Amazing work! Great video!
Love it. Always a pleasure/inspiration. Looking forward to the day historical miniatures are available to 3D print in large numbers/lots of variety so I never need to look at or try and base around another pudding base again
Top video man the model are epic, and the terrain is top draw as usual
I love OPR's stuff. Great value patreon!
quick tip for removing supports if you hit the supports with a hairdryer to heat them up they will start to warp and you can easy removing of the supports and they should leave a nice clean surface. i love my 3d resin printers. great video. :) also if you want fast prints you need a mono resin printer. i am able to print 100mm tall models in under 3 hours. :)
Warm water also works wonders
@@ocarinaguy41 yea but i prefer a hairdryer as it also dries the ipa of the model. :) leaving it nice and clean. :)
Great looking army. Would love to build a Kings of War army now that I’ve seen this!
Super-inspirational. Can't wait to get my saurian army built up. Working on my gators now at 150% scale to the warriors. Looks killer! I'm gonna use that square base to make a few small bands.
I love the look of these KoW bases with multiple figures. Each one is like its own little diorama, they look great as a group!
Damn fine army. I've been printing a ton of OPR minis and they've all been great.
Aaaand GW is gonna flip lol
Oh no what a shame lol
Good
good
Not really, this is probably why they discontinued the Tomb Kings and Bretonnia.
@@mogwaiman6048 Are they going to discontinue the Warhound Titan? I ask because I just printed one last week
Looks great! I really do like this kind of 3d sculpture and printing market.
Nice!!
I have swayed and bought a resin printer as well.. can't wait till it gets here!. great video m8!
I started 3d printing conversion parts for my models, cool alternative heads and weapons, loving the ability to make models really unique.
Great vid Luke! Might have to get some of those. They look unreal.
Luke mate that is top class. i love it and cant wait for my resin printer
Not sure if this video is subtly part of it, but I'm loving the war that the community is waging against GW right now.
As a Veteran of the Long War, I can assure you that proxying is nothing new. There have always been other manufacturers around and as long as you weren't playing in a GW store or event, there was never anything GW could (or can) do about it.
There was even a time when GW used other manufacturers in their publications.
Amazing talent well-done Mate!1
Daaaaaaaamn those are awesome. Boss bases as always lad
I just started printing this set a few days ago for kings of war, painting them in four colors and applying a brown enamel wash! Pretty much exactly like this!
Really good job man, i loved it! Tomb Kings rock!
Brilliant! Thanks for sharing.
Dont let GW see this LOL
Given their recent practices, it would probably be a good thing if ALL crafting/warhammer content creators started doing this. If GW wants to screw the fans, the fans should return the favour....
Doesn't matter, it ain't for Warhammer its for kings of war.. GW killed warhammer.. let em screw in their bad decisions.
@@reignick1133 except people who play KoW still buy GW miniatures.
I think the Precise reason for this video is for them to see it.
@@mogwaiman6048 not many GW models work in KoW. The Fantasy market has a lot of other producers, Fireforge, Northstar, One Page Rules, etc.
These look great! It’s insane how far 3D printing has come along.
Fantastic looking figures,I need to get into some of these 3d printed models!
I had no idea I've been over curing, I just thought 3d prints were very brittle and sensitive, really turned me off to the whole process.
Great content! loved the video. :)
Pleeeeease wear a respirator when airbrushing enamels! We still need you!
Multi-basing is the best thing to ever happen to war gaming. Especially if you bang out some themed scatter terrain at the same time.
I simply do not want to play a non-multibase wargame ever again, the time savings and hobby opportunities i can't go without.
yeah, after playing kings of war, i hate geting back to 40k and move my 40 wyches one by one.
@@ivandeoz I recently played a game of Bolt action and after the first turn of movement I had had enough - once we finished our game both of us came to the conclusion that we wish we had spent the time playing KoW instead.
@@GeekGamingScenics absolutely - qnd you can watch our games while you are hobbying ;)
Mate, when spraying enamels you need proper ventilation and a rebreather (for vapors/ fumes)
Because the spirit base makes the fumes toxic
Your army looks beautiful mate!
Heey, one question, do they have the same scale as the real tomb kings(28mm)? I mean for example lost kingdom has bigger models and it requires a rescale of the minis.
The pillars are in the same patreon?
Good to see the Mars 3 is treating you well. I've heard they can have a little bit of Z axis wobble. I've got one pre ordered nonetheless
Dang, this is amazing. Love the base! I feel inspired now in doing an army project with Star Wars battle droids.
These turned out great!
It's a great feeling ay. Check out monstrous encounters, they've got some great minis
The major con of 3d printing this army is GW. Good luck with your channel pal.
GW is awful and denying them money is a good thing IMO
Stunning! So love your work. Poorly sick with mental health issues at the mo but this helps me so much, thank you 🙏
