  • Even though I was very nervous, introducing my childhood hero conservationist and ecologist doctor Jane Goodall at the One Young World Summit in London, it was one of the highlights of my career. With her work raising money and awareness for a better planet for all living creatures, she is a huge inspiration for the work I do with ‘Knot On My Planet.’ Her powerful message of hope for the future is a very important one.

she is only advocating for the elephants, not any other living being.. Not saying she isn't a role model for doing that, but it's sad that all the other animals are forgotten. As the way we treat all animals and the environment they and we live in, are all connected. When the oceans start dying, we die. When the bees die, we die.
      Edit- adding this,:
We can't afford to be cherry picking one issue while ignoring the others. Because we can actually do something about all of that. Boycot the animal industry, advocate for laws that give animal rights, not only the animals we consider as pets.
Promote ecocide law, another crucial law: ecocidelaw.com/

@@carolienc2609 I agree and because I'm vegan it's always hard to see people caring about some animals but then they eat meat, drink milk, wear leather and buy cosmetics tested on animals.. I assume like most people they just aren't properly aware or educated on these issues and they think that they can't go vegan..or they're worried it's not healthy or it's too hard..or just by doing something for one animal cause they are doing enough... It's worth a try sharing all this info but I don't expect to be able to change the mind of famous ppl...I still like that she is doing something because it seems so many models or celebs don't really do anything at all to promote animal causes or the environment. At least she is better than all these people who are all about their own image and not showing concern about anything outside what immediately affects them.

@@pantherz9103 you are right, I will not change her mind. People should btw always change their own mind, come to their own conclusions, and never take my word for it.
It's mostly about everyone else reading my and your comments, there are undoubtedly many people seeing that. So I'll keep on posting here, especially when the video just uploaded a comment is seen more often. I'm hoping I'm planting seeds in some of the readers/watchers minds.
I try not using the word vegan, as many have a negative association with it I noticed a lot of times, it's like all the resistance is activated I someone and they stop listening/reading. Do you also have experience with that?

She's doing the best she can in her position and she's way more influential than you are. And it is so wrong to suggest that she only cares about elephants, she has made it abundantly clear that she cares about the planet, the seas and all living things on and in it. Stop trying to suggest that you are better than her, it's not a competition.

That is why i am writing here.. because she has the position to reach WAY more people than I ever could. Words mean sh*t, that celebrities or politicians or whomever speaks beautiful words about caring, don't mean anything if their actions are not aligned. #integrity Such an important value: to not value people for how they look or what they say, unlike the fashion industry, but on how they act and behave.

@@carolienc2609 you are saying that she only advocates for the elephants as if it was a bad thing - just because she is focusing on elephants does not mean that she doesn't care or support other causes as a privately. It is not a bad thing to "specialise" in something. People who try to do everything are usually not very effective, and just because you pick an area close to your heart for whatever reason, it does not automatically mean you are ignoring other issues. We are all different and based on our experiences, life circumstances, etc., we will be naturally drawn to a specific cause. this is not a bad thing and there are plenty of people who are advocating for other causes so I guess we've got it covered.

    • @clarisse5071

Carolien C sorry but you sound like any other vegan activist... judgmental and ignorant. It’s not your fault, I used to be like you, I was vegan for 5.5 years and thought i knew it’all. But eventually I got extremely sick. And had to stop being vegan and in doing so, stop judging everyone who wasn’t. Raising awareness about a key species like the elephant is huge. A key species means that if it is doing well, countless other species of the same habitat will do well also. You think you’re better than Doutzen because you don’t eat meat, but you’re not.

    • @carolienc2609
      @carolienc2609 4 роки тому +4

@@clarisse5071 Why say sorry if you don't mean it. You are doing exactly that of what you are accusing me of: judging (me) and me being ignorant. You are projecting on me and putting words in my mouth.
Vegan isn't about you or me, it is not a lifestyle or food choice, it is human and animal rights issue. Stop making it about you or me. If you tried and for some reason you had health issues (I don't know what you had so won't discuss that further) that is a pity and i am sure you also wished it would have worked out.
You are also only talking about food here, you made this post all about yourself, but as you know and as I described, veganism is not about diet alone. Do you, now you are not vegan anymore, now suddenly support again factory farming? The grinding or gassing of the male chicks, the killing of chickens after max 10 weeks? The breeding of cows to give more and more milk, the pigs to have more and more piglets (with that increasing chance of complications)? All the animals die a very premature death, they are all children, babies even, do you support that now? Do you support again animal testing? Do you again support the dolphin, orca shows, whale hunting? Do you suddenly support hunting? Do you suddenly again support animal exploitation in whatever form?
Coming back to the plantbased diet, most people thrive on it, i am backed up by a vast amount of scientifical papers on the topic. Please take a look at the game changers documentary, on how top athletes start going plantbased and thrive.
The fact that it didn't work for you, doesn't automatically mean you have to become an anti-vegan acitivist. You can start hating the people who are vegan, but it is not about them, it is about the animals and their habitats (and with that our life-support systems).
What is the harm in encouraging people to boycot the standard practices I wrote above?

You didn't outwardly react you just corrected yourself and kept moving on. You show great poise. My definition of poise is being able to be: ill at ease, inconspicuously. And, you do that very well. You asked a very important question, how to stay hopefull? There is no hope without action. A powerful statement that helped me a lot.
Please, become an animal rights activist, not only for one species, but for all animals. They all need your advocacy, your voice. On instagram stories I saw you announced you chose vegetarian for one meal a couple of days ago, because you recently felt that eating more plant-based is something that you feel is necessary. Unfortunately there is no animal derived product that goes without exploitation, they are all being bred into existance to get killed... with all kinds of horrible procedures before their early dead (often still being babies when they are killed). Also the egg-, milk,- wool- industry and other animal skin that is used in the fashion industry causes incredible amounts of stress, suffering, pain. Pigs, fishes, chickens, cows, foxes, minks, sheep, turkeys, they all can suffer, feel pain, long for connection.
Also, even if the poaching would stop, the elephants will be doomed unless we protect and restore their habitat but also all the other ecosystems. Healthy ecocsystems are ours and the elephants life-support systems. Most of the agricultural land worldwide is used to grow crops for the faremd animals or as grazing pastures for them. The ocean deadzones, (drinking)water-air-soil pollution, soil life degradation, desertification are connected to this polluting industry. It really is all connected.
We can't afford to be cherry picking one issue while ignoring the others. Because we can actually do something about all of that. Boycot that industry, advocate for laws that give animal rights, not only the animals we consider as pets.

Dear Doutzen, I think you did a great job! Her speech was remarkable! Please tell us, what you are doing in particular against climate change. Because you are traveling so much, and because of you so many resources are wasted ... where do you start in your day to day life? And why aren’t you calling out all those fast fashion and beauty brands for what they are doing to our planet and humans, who aren’t as privileged as you and me .... please share some awareness about that too. Thank you!

So yeah... here's the truth: I've always known about you because of course you're one of the greatest model ever but I never felt the need to follow your career until a few month ago when I started follow you on Instagram and the I found out about your UA-cam channel, WHAT I'VE BEEN MISSING ALL THIS TIME!!! WOW Doutzen, I'm awe for everything you do and how you do it, you're so calm and always trying your best as a woman, friend, wife, mother, woman in business etc... you're a big inspiration! Keep going like this, never change, because these kind of videos are what make your channel really great!!!
I'm really sorry for my English, not my native language but I hope you'll understand what I was trying to say. So much love and big things for the future. xx from Milan! 🇮🇹❤️🎉🙏🏼🙏🏼

I don’t know at what point in humankind we would or could have known that this is where progress stops. The beginning of the Industrial Age would likely have been where we should have stopped, but what would then have become of us? Civilization with all the advancements and improvements afforded more people a better quality of life. I don’t believe those who made changes at the beginning of the 20th century intended any harm. People will do as they have always done, realize the problem and set about to correct it. Each generation faces unique dilemmas. That will never change, no matter what we do.

Doutzen, wow, the first time that I watched this, I was amazed with how genuine you are. I learned that you have many other advocacies. You are turning out to be like Princess Grace of Monaco, and Angelina Jolie. Just as beautiful, just as kind-hearted. Everything about you is amazing.
And like you said, in making speeches, just tell the story. Forget the words.
Bravo to you, my dear Doutzen. From Tony of the Philippines.

When you were doing your make up and getting dressed I was hoping you would wear your hair up and I am so happy you did. Not a lot of people understands that...maybe it's just me. I don't know. Jane, Audrey, Angelina are my heroes. It's really amazing what you do for the elephants, Doutzen. But I think it's also very important to get out of ''Contradiction''. People say they love animals but don't mind eating them or wear them. Think of wearing fur, wearing make -up that are tested on animals. Planet, animals, humans it's all one. If you destroy nature you are destroying yourself. Change starts within. We are one entity. The whole of humanity is us.

I think it's great that you're trying to do something good for the planet but I can't help but feel like you don't realize how much harm you have personally done by encouraging others to buy fast fashion through your modeling carreer. I can recommend everyone to watch the documentary 'The true cost' (it' s on netflix and other places of the internet) to learn more about the fashion industry and it's effects on our planet and people.

    • @pantherz9103

Carolien C If you’ve seen her speech about elephants, you can tell she cares very deeply and gives all of her heart to the elephant cause. So she clearly has genuine feelings, it is not an act just to appear caring. I don’t think that’s all about self promotion. I am not here to be critical of Doutzen’s intentions. I am here because I am a fan of Doutzen but still must speak the truth for the animals. I assume most conservationists and wildlife protectors are genuine. The fact that they eat meat and wear leather is due to the social conditioning most of us have been brought up with. There was one interview in which she admitted she wasn’t perfect and mentioned that she’s ‘not a vegan, yet’. It was interesting to hear her say ‘yet’ as if it’s something she may do one day.

    • @carolienc2609
      @carolienc2609 4 роки тому

@@pantherz9103 yes i don't doubt her well intentions for the elephants. She as a person comes accross as kind and sweet. Her channel is not to educate or something, but to give people a look into her life.. she hired a person who folllows and films her and edits and uploads professional video's. Absurd.
I have no doubt that the future includes animal rights and animals off the menu :)!

    • @pantherz9103

Je bent gewoon een Fries mens die niet alles perfect kan doen, je bent buiten al je beroemdheid gewoon een feilbaar mens. Prachtige toespraak over hoop van dr.
