Connecting Phase DJ to Algoriddim's Djay Pro DVS (on iPhone) using a DJM S7 Mixer

- In my case, Djay Pro AI DVS wasn't detecting the Phase DJ signal after plugging everything in. The missing step (for my S7 atleast) is that you have to use a laptop to open the S7 Settings Utility (in your Applications folder) and change the channels from 'Phono' to 'Line' in order for the Phase signal to be detected when calibrating in Djay Pro.
*Note that after you turn off your mixer, you will have to use the S7 Settings Utility on your laptop to change the channels to 'Line' again. I'm not sure if this is specific to the S7 mixer only, but it resets every time after shutting down. Other mixers might not need this same process when using Phase and Djay with it. It would be ideal for Pioneer to create an S7 Settings Utility app for iOS, so that a laptop isn't needed just to change the channels back to 'Line' each time. Hopefully this helps for anyone else who was stuck at the same step I was!

I just got the S7 and Phase for Christmas. Haven’t connected the Phase yet because of computer. Was gonna give it a shot anyways but this video saved me the headache. Preciate you bro 👍
That's awesome! I'm glad the video helped!
Thx for posting this! And dope cuts!
🙏🙌 Thanks for checking out the video!
Thanks for this, I was missing the step of configuring the S7 via PC first. Ugh hate that part of the S7
I'm happy to hear it helped! Thanks for checking out the video. I really hope there would eventually be an update within the DJay OS app that would just pick up the phase signal out the box too. Or if WIR mode ever gets integrated into DJay OS for Phase that would be a game changer also.
Fantastic video.
Glad you enjoyed it! Thanks for checking it out!
It works for me! Big thanks!
Great to hear! 🙌
I saw no sticker drift. Thats looks good
It does a little bit eventually, but not too bad and easy to adjust to.
🎧👌😊
🙏🙌
I mainly use Serato. So my Phase Remotes are set to be used with Serato. But, after watching your video, I guess you don’t have to open Phase Manager to select what software you’ll be using with Phase remotes. -Do the remotes pick up DJay signal just like that?
Thanks!
Sorry for the delayed reply. The DJay does not
calibrate with the Phase remote signals by default. At the time I tried this, the only way I could get a signal to work was through the S7 mixer's settings utility. But a few months ago, Phase posted an instructional on their IG on how to change the Phase Manager settings for the remotes to pick up the DJay signal. I haven't tried it myself yet though. In the end, a laptop is still needed to change the setting for DJay to work with the Phase remote control signals.
@@soulo1200s I own an MS11 & I DJ with a laptop. Never on an iPad. I’ll do more research. I can’t seem to make Phase work with DJay, at all. It works well with my Rane 12MK2, tho. Thank you for your help.
Yea laptop pre-set up sucks! 🤦🏾♂️ kinda pointless if I’m trying to avoid using a laptop all together 🤦🏾♂️
Yeah I feel like the best solution would be a S7 settings utility app for iOS. Hopefully they figure something out.
Did I hear it correctly that you have change the settings from phono to line with the utilities software on a mac/pc each every time after you turn off the mixer? Or is it just once?
That is correct. Each time you turn on the mixer you have to use the utility software on the computer to change it back from phono to line (because the mixer will reset those settings after you turn it off).
@@soulo1200s Thanks for your reply! Hope they will fix this with a firmware update. I was eying the S7, but I use Djay on an iPad in combination with Phase.
@@kikeon0017 No prob! I hope they also figure this out too! Atleast we can still get use the S7 with our devices and Djay but use regular needles with it without any problem.
Any way to do this without the use of a laptop?
Can I calibrate the signal with the serato timecodes or I depend on the phase to generate it?
So you mean without using the Mixer Utility App to change any line/phono settings, try and calibrate djay app dvs settings with serato vinyl and real needles first, then swap the phase in after it's calibrated? I'll try that next time and reply again here. That's a pretty great idea, thanks for the suggestion.
Ok I just tried this and although calibration of control vinyl can be done with a serato vinyl, it does not carry over when switching to the Phase after.
So, does it mean I depend either in the Algorithm timecodes or the Phase to get the signal. Interesting… thank you man.
Can I do this with a traktor z2 mixer
It looks like the Z2 mixer isn't listed as compliant hardware with djay pro. But I do see the S2 MK3 and S2 Trakor Kontrol as compatible with djay pro on iOS though.
@@soulo1200s yeah. Apparently the z2 is not iOS compatible. And I don’t have 1,200 for a new compatible mixer.
Am lifting an Akai AMX to see if it works, else I'll just stick to regular timecode vinyls. No biggie. Also, I'm using vestax handy trax for portablism
@@CarlosMunoz1980an akai amx might work , gonna test and report back
On Android ?
I don't think Android has the DVS feature yet (but it can still run the DJay Pro AI app on Andoird though). www.algoriddim.com/dvs
Does it work with a midi mapped mixer
I'm not too sure. If it's midi mapped to Serato, I would think that Djay Pro DVS might not pick up the same exact mapping for that mixer and you'd have to re-do it again since it's Algoriddim and not Serato.
