Large canvases are tough. I’ve been working on one for two years now and keep running into issues that I never had with smaller ones.
Artists have always used whatever tools were at their disposal. Using a projector is no more cheating than using a photo reference or a camera obscura. It could be argued that by documenting your process through you tube, your art contains an honesty that simply wasn’t possible a century ago.
Absolutely love the manner in which you work. Of course the end piece, but taking the time to reach out to other professions is what makes us human. Photographers, models, the whole set up. Hats off.
the TRANSFORMATION from the model, photography, workstation room, canvas, sketch, painting prep had me captured from start to finish to the lead in to hopefully your short story narrative.

i used to watch Slew a couple years back- after watching the US vs. Europe collab video and this video from him, i’ve fallen back in love w Slew’s videography, storytelling and art. shit is just incredible
I worry about the marks left by the aluminium frame from behind, especially considering how expensive that canvas is, but I trust with the next layers they won't be noticeable. Fantastic idea, so excited to see it evolving!!
@@CedricxChaotic yes this is a good point. I was afraid as well. I was pushing on that glazing stage of the canvas way more than I would when painting. I actually tightened the canvas with the keys after that. And normal painting now seems to be great and not stretch enough to touch the bars behind it.
I've had issues with marks because of frames in the past, I'm an abstract artist and that expensive canvas will do me no good, when I first saw that canvas I felt cramps

Transformation!!!! I love the concept, the storytelling! Maybe Medusa knows she can reconnect with her true self, that she isn’t lost in the darkness. Man oh man that was awesome! Indeed terrifyingly exciting. Can‘t believe what you have accomplished. The means you went to to even get that underpainting is unbelievable. There was so much involved in it. Your Medusa looks fantastic, how she was and what she became. Hope was perfect. She is also incredibly talented. You both work really well together. The outcome was just unreal. Jade makes a beautiful Medusa!
I am so looking forward to seeing her completed in oils. In part 2. It’s a huge canvas though and so expensive as well, but oh so o much worth it. An amazing project. What a transformation!

As an artist, I’m blown away! A total mind bender. I thought I had a good concept of highlights and shadows but you take this to a new level. I love the burnt umber wash and remove. I’m probably going to try this method…… nope….I am going to do this.

Transformation, I'm excitedddd for this painting and i love how its based on your love for greek mythology (also love them myself lol) but mostly i love that's it's for a short story. I'm guessing thats a hint to the surprise at the end maybe. This is going to be MASTERPIECE; i loved the photoshoot for reference because with a project like this you NEED that reference and the process of the shoot looked so fun!!!!!!

Hullo SLEW! I have done murals and large canvases and there is a true difference between them! Creating a video is an art form as well as I watch this video I am astounded by your acumen! Thank you for sharing this process with everyone. So many people just don’t have any idea what goes into getting a larger artwork going and progressing it to completion. I hope your photographer crests her own imagery and that you both can share in this amazing idea.

This was an amazing start to this project. Really liked seeing all the behind the scenes and prep. I can say even on my end that canvas made me anxious on the amount of work it will take to complete. But I like your mind set on taking it little bits at a time. Excited for this series your an awesome artist and pushing your boundaries is inspiring me to do the same.

It’s really exciting to see how you guys as artists cooperate together. The idea is great and I’m thrilled to see the final result. As a little „issue“ I see the pose of the hand. The „white Medusa“ ( I’ll call her ) has the index finger more „streched“ then the „dark medusa“ on the other side of the mirror.
