Mechwarrior 4 Mercenaries - The Mechs of Mektek Part I
Вставка
- Опубліковано 10 лис 2024
- A compilation of clips of all the new mechs in mekpak 3.1. i think there are just over 60 new mechs in mekpak 3.1 that are not in vengeance, black knight or mercenaries. With the great weapons, the infantry and the battle armor that comes with the mekpak, it just seems like a great addition to a great game.
Mekpak 3.1 basically takes all the weapons, infantry battle armor and mechs from mekpaks 1,2 abd 3 and puts them into one big mekpak.
(you might notice that the video doesnt include archer, marauder, marauder II, rifleman, warhammer and wasp-these were not included in the initial mekpak3.1 release back when i made the video, but are now available in the update for mekpak3.1 at mektek.net)
****You can check out these mechs(archer, wasp, rifleman, marauder, marauder II and Warhammer) in my video titled The mechs of mektek Part II at
• Mechwarrior 4 Mercenar...
Check out my other videos for more mechwarrior stuff.
here are some of mekpak3.1's main features
over 60 new mechs (useable in campaign)
Clan mekpak and Inner Sphere mekpak weapons and mechs
9 battle armor
6 infantry
a variety of weapons
more features in multiplayer including maps and the ability to use the mechs in this video as well as infantry and battle armor.
I downloaded mekpak3.1 from
mekpak3.1 release page:
www.mektek.net/...
but you can also access it throught the main site page as well as extra maps and mods

Just started playing through the MW4 games again. These games are such great nostalgia. I know everyone's favorite is Mercs, but I enjoy them all.
Watching this reminds me of helping out periodically in the multiplayer lab at Microsoft when these packs were being made. Basically I was a tester on MW4 and MW4: Black Knight but I moved over to Rise of Nations by the time Mercs and the 'mech packs were being tested. Still, a lot of the multiplayer testing happened in the same lab, so I'd be testing RoN back-to-back with testers (most of whom worked on MW4 with me) who were testing Mercs and the 'mech packs, and so periodically we'd just switch over and all play a 8-player multiplayer match. Fun times for sure.
Still, looking back it seems like the quality of 'mech designs suffered a bit (probably a result of the sheer number of 'mechs they made. JEEZ there were a lot!)
This is one of the few games that I've played repeatedly from start to finish on quite a few occasions. The other being Freespace 2. It's a great game despite its age.
p cha Lol they are terrible and Huge?
DUDE, you just nailed the two games I usually come back to. Mechwarrior IV is a childhood to adult favourite, Freespace 2 I picked up a couple years ago. That first time you're flying through the nebula, and you see the enemy's capital ship illuminated only by its broadsides... Terrific.
I can't get past the stealth mission.. ever
Both Freespace games were great; I bought Freespace 2 on the day of its release because I had enjoyed Freespace so much - it plays better with a joystick than with a pad.
@@Pwnzistor the stealth missions are all all about being as quiet as you can, firing your missiles (or taking your readings) and just getting out of there.
MechWarrior 4 Mercs is one of my favorite games because of its replayability. It is truely timeless for me.
yea a shame MW5 shot us in the head
@@alumlovescake yeah i dont think there will be another great game like MW4 was
Piranha should not create another MW ever again
That Behemoth and Supernova. Those are my babies!
Scott Wylie Mercenaries same!
we still play it on gameranger
Of course this is way old now, but I just wanted to say that this is the video that got me to play mechwarrior 4 as a kid, and is probably responsible for my continued interest in Battletech today. Thank you!
I was immediately blown away by the awesome designs while music from MechWarrior 4: Vengeance played. Way past cool!!!
One thing I love about MechWarrior IV is how practical the 'Mechs appear. They aren't awkward looking like those in III or complicated like V, they actually look as though they could be used in real warfare.
Well thats one of many reasons this is the best mech game ever
The Behemoth was a beast, that railgun smashed everything in my way!!
Agreed, Behemoth is bes boy.
Completely insane, well done to the team behind this.
So many! I wish I had gotten the chance to use MekTek. I used to play Vengeance, Black Knight and Mercenaries all the time, but ever since Windows stopped supporting Microsoft I haven't been able to.
You still can. Head over to abandonware. You can find mw4 mercs with mektek 3.1 installed with a majority of these mechs
@@Mistasandman - Thank you! :-)
Its still a pain to work in win10
The Warthog definitely lives up to its name from it's appearance.
I like...
I love the Dash-HURRRRR!
That out of the way I'm a big fan of Mek-Tek, gunna be getting Mek-Tek 4 pretty soon! Keep up the good work and here's hoping for another Mechwarrior game soon!
I prefer mechs like the Blood Asp, Ryoken, Vulture and Hauptmann. I've never really liked the Atlas, Daishi, Warlord and other 100 tonners simply because of speed. Especially in the case of the Blood Asp, a 90 tonner, you can have a very good layout (including dual Gauss on the dorsal cannons) and have good armor, but still keep some speed (if you upgrade the engines). I love the mechwarrior games, and will never stop playing them until my hands turn into dust. Even then, i'll find a way.
Yeah, that one does look interesting with that massive gun mounted in the torso! I might have to give it a try.
I like the fact that they're available in the campaign - it could really liven it up for me again.
10 years later this is in my recommendations. I miss the music.
Fafnir is still my favorite, those twin heavy guasses it mounts will shed your opposision in an instant (within 600 meters) especially when combined with Clan Large Lasers, i personally would've liked t see some ballistic hardpoints on it though.
works fine on windows 7,no texture flikerings or stuff, amazing mod
2018 still love that video, its a shame PGI cant animate mechs properly till this day
Playing this in 2012 and I'm STILL having a blast
I remember back in MW2 Mercs, picking up the Crab as my personal mech. Guess it will always be one of my favourites.
0:27 Damn son...that's a certified MW3 classic
Because Mektek redesigned the mech so that it could be able to torso twist; most if not all other mechs have that function in this game.
That katapult looked sick
The locust IIC looks like its trying to say "argh what is my miserable existence" with it's derpy little pods.
3xCLBX10 Ares was my ride of choice back then from the MEKPAKs.
2019
I remember time playing vengeance online. Tactics, cap the flag, team play, Mech counters, scouts, runners, snipers, rabbits and missleboats, electronic warfare and ambushes, and that feeling of suspense and tension when thers no one around and ur feeling being watched, or feeling of dread when team mates get wasted around u and ur left alone.Good times.
mechs... more mechs .... MORE MECHS?!?!? thank you GOD!
i wish people still played this online,i loved this game
From a visual standpoint, the Talos just won my heart over O_O
They made Mechassault for the first Xbox, and that was fairly successful. Honestly, I could see a real Mechwarrior game coming to consoles.
the blood asp looks a helluva lot sweeter on here than it does on Mechassault 2 Lonewolf, and best part, no plasma ppc for it, pure cold guass
I can't wait for Mekpak 4 to come out this summer!
.......
Vulture IIC and Wildcat are perfect
@mechwarrior4fan97 Agree with your there.
The profile alone on the Behemoth just looks nasty. Great looking mech there.
Considering how awesome and intimidating the competition is, the old battlemaster really hasn't aged well from it's high point in Mechwarrior 1.
I want to play this game again..
Man, could you imagine either of the behemoth assaults wading through your home town one morning?
The Warlord is the Atlas with Omni bays. ME GUSTA :D
@raby760 because these were added in the Mek Paks - made by mektek. If you go to their homepage you will fine MW4 free to download with the IS and Clan packs + the around 50 added mechs. You also get new weapons and the multiplayer servers provided by them are very active
I loved Mechwarrior. My problem with 3.1 was that there were too many mechs. Overkill. And if I remember right, the installation wiped out all of the mech configs you had prior to the install and altered some of the pre-existing mechs enough so that you could never configure them the same way again. I did enjoy MekTek's map packs prior to this update though.
Actually, tactics is going to be a lot like the tabletops, turn-based with automatic dice rolls, animated, with objectives and pretty sweet looking.
Love the Blood Asp.
I fucking love the Deimos, that thing is a BEAST.
I wish that this game was on Steam.
The music track at 3:25 sounds like a remix of some Pokemon battle music.
The main menu music at 5:20, funnily enough starting with my boy; the Catapult, brings back memories of playing a MW4 demo back in the day.
Miss this game.
7:35 the strider performing a tactical slide
Even though MTX has been shutdown for unknown reasons, I downloaded MechWarrior 4: Mercenaries and it already has a current version of MekTek, which has new and more interesting 'mechs for me to pilot them.
behemoth (the stone rhino) was immense lol that iggantic mechs are awesome a to new future!#techno!
MekTek FTW good job guys
One shame is that to my knowledge they have never had melee mechs in any of these games.
Getting melee to work would be annoying. The problem is that in the lore of Battletech, you control the mech with your mind via neurohelmet. But this is contradicted by the fact that they also use traditional inputs like joysticks, throttle, pedals, etc. But the arms of the mech are supposed to be controlled by the mind of the pilot, which is why they can aim their arms off axis, drop their arms to the side, etc, but in most of the games they can't do this, although Mech 3 did it a little bit (but mostly not).
Doing this in a game isn't impossible but would require quite a few changes, and the game would have to essentially make it a core feature, instead of it being just one out of innumerable weapons. Because of that, it's typically not worth doing. With that said, it's in Battletech the video game.
@@thuggeegaming659
Indeed and it might take more memory capacity for such a feature.
To me it would be worth it though.
But I do also agree that a game developer might just put too much emphasis on such a feature... *Sniff*
Though in for example the three original Fallout games there are features galore that the player may never think of using... Like a TV dinner LOL
I do remember the first Battletech game I played "The Crescent Hawk's Inception" where I could direct the mechs and go and kick another mech.
@@Fenris77 It's not so much that the developer would put too much emphasis on melee, they essentially would have to put a lot of emphasis on it. It's not something that can merely be tacked on as a side thought if they wanted to implement it properly, but then that would take away from the other mechanics that are much more important to a Battletech game.
Melee is definitely easier to implement in an over the head turn-based tactical game.
@@thuggeegaming659 Indeed.
Damn now I start thinking about playing Fallout 1 and 2 and TYactics again, the death animation when you use a ripper (A sort of chainsaw sword I think) is utterly hillarious.
It would be really cool if there was a movie made about the Fed Com Civl War. Which takes place in the game so probably we’ll see Specter take place in the movie.
Shadows of Empirion has a simple MW4 Mercs Free Release Installer that does not require MTX, and is also the latest version.
@awesomemann1234 actually the MekTek release is legal. Smith and Tinker, the new owners of the Mechwarrior rights to release it for free.
No love for the Firefly then. I loved those in MW3 - stick a MASC in, strip down armour and weaponry to one laser, bump up the engine as high as it would go and tear about the place ridiculously fast killing Daishis and Atlases with the death by a thousand cuts.
In single-player of course. MPs in Assault mechs would have trashed me as easily as a Bulldog. ;)
Huh, never seen a Crab before but I like it already. Dasher reminded me of a Firemoth.
you have to have a bit of finese and timing but you'll do a lot of damage. The damage is equal to two LLs and you can get off three pulls of the trigger in 9 seconds before the heat becomes critical. Make sure that you are on an escape vector on the last shot so you had head for cover to allow the heat to die down. Then re-engage.
My prefered prey were Assaults and Heavies so i always got up close and personal.
Nice Strider drift 7:30
3 mechs on here i truly love
Blood Asp
Behemoth
Annihilator
Cyclops is one of my all time faves
The Supernova Assault "Mech is my favorite!
Uziel and Awesome mechs are still my favorites
Always loved Hunter OSC Mech music.
Annihilator with 4 Clan Gauss Rifles... deadly
I'm aware, although not familiar with all the different names. Admittedly, the mechs of the same classes don't look the same in each of the Mechwarrior games as they do in the Battletech ones. (MW2's "Timberwolf" may be a Madcat, but it looked skinny and dinky. MechCommander's and MW 4's Raven looks like a fat-headed medium mech, but is registered as a light, and is much skinnier in most TT pieces and the latest MWO.)
The Annihilator looks like a chubby kid having a hard time walking
i agree, the songs are from the game.
MWO is great! Mechwarrior tactics is more like MegaMek or the table top Battletech game. It's turn base unlike the RTS elements of MechCommander 1 and 2 but still looks amazing!!!
Deimos and the Talos were two of my favorite 'Mechs
OMG annhilator, and avatar, i wish i could play this again so bad
Gotta luv that hardcore metal
Some them mechs I never seen until MW5 Mercenaries
some of them are also non canon such like the Pitbull and Warthog, others like the Tenshi or Talos are nothing like what they are in the tabletop..
in MWO aswell both the Sunspider and Roughneck are non canon chassis
@@MrTBSC yeah
i remember the maurader..always got my damn legs blown off...stick me with a masakari, war hammer or a executioner and your done for..also have a sweet setups for other mechs like argus in hardpuncher or a cutter for executioner
The Avatar's design predates MW3. It's original design was using Clantech captured during Luthien. And it was in a TRO long before MW3.
5:28 AHHH The days of playing the Vengeance demo....
@KillaTemplar A variant that I think looks more menacing. So we all agree? Atlas/warlord is the most menacing looking mech? Or you think another one it?
The Nova in MW4 Mercs also has 12 medium lasers.
I had no idea the Blood Asp was an actual mech I always thought it was made up for Mechassault
Mechassault is somewhat based on Mechwarrior universe, the game play is simplified for console gamers. The best thing about this game you can hop out your crippled mech and hijack a another one.
@Blowfeld20k
this music is from the MW4 Vengeance and Mercs soundtracks.
It must cause problems to the weapons when the legs are constantly moving through the "arms"
@clondan1 I have the game and there is both a Grim Reaper and a Kodiak, and the Dasher is the Inner Sphere name for Fire Moth. Fire Moth is the Clan name. ;)
@pinhead61187 Outside the mod the Mad Cat MK2 is my personal favourite, but you have to admit that those are all awesome mechs.
the priviteer looks like a bushwaker with a bigger rocket pod
yay old anni is back
@Arzaker the behemoth is the stone rhino's inner sphere codename
@Pupwiz
Yhea i agree,i love the Marauder II,abselout machine of mass destruction.
I just installed this, ready to blow shit up.
Mario Martínez Beltrán mind blowing!
@K0HIJIN What is the name of the metal song that starts when the Mech list starts? I remember it's from MW4, but I don't remember what is was called. Awesome video by the way, big improvement since MW3.
Both of those predate those games. The Stalker is a very old 'mech, was around in TRO 3025 IIRC, and the Blood Asp came about quite a while ago too.
WTF??? It's been many years since I've played MW4, since multiplayer went down, but I've never seen some of these Mechs.
@TearsOfWar1 Because the Warlord is technically an Atlas. In other words it is just a variant.
I downloaded mektek and whatever i do i cant get the graphics to look good like it did in the original cd version like shown in this vid if i set it to higher than 920x860 the textures gets all messed up please help and i cant put it on ultra cause then the screen size is messed up
I have the mektek pack for my copy of MW4 Mercs. But it seems like it's missing some camo variants from MW4 Vengance. I may be wrong as it's been about 6 years since I played MW4 Vengance, and it's only been about 3 days since I got a cracked MW4 Mercs release with the mektek pack. Is there any add-on camo skins you can get?
+Agent DoubleOG We still play MW4 Mercs in GameRanger if you are interested =)
@@PanzerKonigstiger Holy Shit! in so much videos i have seen you recluting all this men. Are they still playing? (sorry if i wrote something wrong, my english is so bad.)
Amispoppia-let the bodies hit the floor!
Awesome music XD love this game
@NyxOOX oh, i agree. they are amazing.
yeoman looks like a walking
turret
@TearsOfWar1 The more menacing-looking 'mech fer me would definitely be the Atlas, meh classic fave :)
Does the Ares have another name? On Sarna, I'm only seeing the Super heavy Ares
