  • Here is a play through the low gain (LTD) settings of the Barber Gain Changer SR with my R8 Les Paul loaded with Lust For Tone Skydawgs humbuckers and RS Guitarworks electronics. Playing through the Maz 18 NR with a Weber Legacy 30w speaker.

    How is the Noise-floor on this pedal? I want to combine it ( with a vintage strat ) as a Low-gain OD, into a Fulltone OCD? any thoughts? Appreciate the thorough Demo.

      Noise Floor adds a little, but no more than most overdrives. Combining two is always going to add some, but this isn’t something I’d consider when buying this pedal. Its just fine.

      @@VisualGuy Thanks. I realize that any Gain pedal adds a certain-level of noise, but is it Excessive? compared typical / similar OD's? ( thats my question ). Appreciate your input.

      Michael Caz it is not excessive at all in my experience. YMMV depending on power supply and other pedals in the chain.

      @@VisualGuy Update: Purchased the Gain Changer SR (Feb 2020) = absolutely love it. Most underrated Overdrive pedal ever. Phenomenal versatility. I was waiting for you to Change the right toggle, for the Zeppelin AC/DC Sound. I love the "Fat & Flat" with my Strat. Lots of tones in there.

    Nice demo, what does SR stand for and how does it differ from the original? Thanks

      Hi there Bob, the SR stands for “Special Recipe”. Barber has had other SR pedals in previous years, LTD for example. The new GCSR is another improvement in warmth, clarity and note separation. (According to Barber’s website). I translate that to slightly more transparent than the normal GC. For more info, here is a link. www.barberelectronics.com/gainchanger.html. Hope you subscribe! I have several videos that I’ve used this pedal in. It’ll be listed in the description. Cheers!

    Is this pedal very loud? Where would you say unity volume is?

    • @VisualGuy
      @VisualGuy  4 роки тому +1

      It is plenty loud. Unity is around noon with the gain around noon. The 6 different switch options can vary that slightly.
