  • After heroically saving King Alexander III of Scotland from being gored by a stag in 1263, Colin Mackenzie of Kintail of the Clan Mackenzie was granted the use of the stag's head - a '12 pointer' or 'Royal' - for his coat of arms. This proud emblem still adorns every bottle of The Dalmore, as a symbol of this bravery and daring spirit.

    When King Alexander 111 fell from his horse many years later near Kinghorn in Fife, his reign was brought to an untimely end and our troubles were only beginning......

    Why does Dalmore need to colorize their whisky?

    • @susiegillan769
      @susiegillan769 2 роки тому

      That colorization comes from the sherry barrels. That’s how whisky gets its color. The sherry that has been soaked into the wooden barrels seeps into the whisky, therefore giving it its color.

      But then again I’ve only had the 12 yr. Very neutral scotch for me, it’s taste is quite yummy but not something exquisite or anything that blew my mind. Just how I felt.
      BUT, a decent scotch, we can enjoy scotch, something many people frown at, so cheers!!!!

      @@supadopemex9245 The problem I have with dalmore is it is outrageously overpriced for what it offers. It pretends to be a luxury whisky. This King Alexander for instance costs way more than a solid 21 year old whisky while being a lot younger than that.
      Then it comes in at a stingy 40% abv, chill-filtered and coloured. They finish this stuff in 6 different casks or so but what is the point when what we see in the bottle is actually dye. Add a little more and even at today's inflated rates you get 2 bottles of glendronach 21, which is a fully sherry matured whisky bottled at 48% abv and without colourant. Still it looks darker than this one.
      But there may be dalmore fans out there, most probably casual whisky drinkers. If willing to blow that kind of money on this 'paint-in-a-glass bottle' why not!.

  • @chrish12345
    @chrish12345 6 років тому

    this whisky is massively overpriced - genuine, worthwhile complexity is not about mixing casks together but comes from a proper process of maturation
