Scotland History Tours is here for people who want to learn about Scottish history and get ideas for Scottish history tours. I try to make videos which tell you tales from Scotland's past and give you information about key dates in Scottish history and historical places to visit in Scotland. Not all videos are tales from Scotland's history, some of them are about men from Scotland's past or women from Scotland's past. Basically the people who made Scotland. From April 2020 onward I've tried to give ideas for historic days out in Scotland. Essentially these are days out in Scotland for adults who are interested in historical places to visit in Scotland.
As one of Scotland history tour guides people ask: Help me plan a Scottish holiday, or help me plan a Scottish vacation of your from the US. So from April 2020 I've tried to give a bit of history, but some places of interest in Scotland as well.

Hi Bruce, the material in this video is so helpful in gluing together your other videos that it would be worth redoing if you can find the time
You know - without the howling gale this time 😀

Personal Comment of Laura Botten: I get most of my family history stories from my Grandma, from whom I get my Scottish connections. 1066 Battle of Hastings was the only date in history she could remember for certain 😂 Good old Scots!

Watching the subtitles trying to cope with your lovely accent and the background noise is good fun. The history is crazy as usual.

I think your videos are great! Unfortunately, the wind and trains passing drowned out some of the dialogue in this one. Any chance of doing the audio again?

Hi William, I made this one when I was farting about a few years ago. I only started being serious in April when COVID stopped me working as a stand~up or a tour guide. I recently bought a set up that deals with wind better. Little by little I'm learning stuff I didn’t know before. Unfortunately that one's too deep in the past

    Hi Bruce,
    Yer daenin well mate!
Yer vocals may need a wee bit dubbing or did you leave it in for effect?
I'm following your stories now and just wondering why this was not the history that I was given at school!
Of course the teachers have got to follow the curriculum....
It wasn't until I'd left school that I had discovered that Bruce was of French decent! And now that his forefathers came up to help control the south from the Forth and Clyde rivers fits in. At one stage I was hopping it was something to do with the crusades and the Knights Templar. That's the old romantic in me; Roslyn Chapple and all!
I was told that King Malcolm Canmore died at the end of a siege on a French castle (again part of the holy crusades to free the French from the tyranny of the Muslims at the time). Where they would only give surrender to the King. When he went to the gates to receive the gesture of the keys of the city which were dangled at the end of a spear; was run through with the spear and that's how he met his death! The other part was that the Bruce's controlled Fife. Also the first true capital of Scotland as we know it now was Dunfermline under Malcolm Canmore's rule. I'm surprised that you have not mentioned that Fife is a kingdom in it's own rite and still is! Yes I'm a Fifer fi Dunfermline!
Keep up the good work Bruce, and Thank you!

The background noise didna bother me Bruce. I've been piping for 40+ years, and I'm half deef from that (as well as a lot of gunshots without protection). So I put the close captions on with every video I watch.
Though the caps on this video are way out of sync with what you're saying. 'Tis wha it 'tis.

So basically once again Scotland was way ahead of the curve in that no matter who was supposedly nominally the King in Scotland a shadowy group controlled all no matter which side the King represented. The King was only King as long as the group made bank. However if the King started to interfere with group it was time for a new King.
