The home science technique about frying food basically means they are thinking to turn off the rocket to save fuel when it is not in gravity zone and then to restart it when Mars came into trajectory
They actually did exactly that in the real mission
Rockets are actually launch vehicles. They donot travel in space. They are detached once they put the load in the orbit. It's the orbiter and shuttle they are talking about.

And yes I was proud when the ISRO team announced their success in 2014 and I remember our ex prime minister was also present in the event standing behind since the operation started when he was serving as PM. And FYI I have personally met Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam and that was one of the best moments of my life!

Hi, more important than the "cheap" mission aspect was the fact that India did this is first attempt. Other Countries who have also achieved this took a lot more attempts before they were successful. Thats something which makes me more proud than highlighting the "being cheaper" part of it.
I legit teared up when Vande Mataram started playing when they showed former Indian President, aerospace scientist Dr. APJ Abdul Kalam's picture. I am an American citizen now, but everything about this still moves me to tears. And yes, Korbin, you're right, regular Indian women, mothers and housewives and daughters, were responsible for this mission. The image of these women celebrating int he control room in bright kanjivaram sarees was the most powerful image of what Indian women can and cannot do in generations!

this movie is close to my heart. i was there at the launch site when pslv launched the mars mission orbiter. i followed the trajectory of the mission for the next 10 months while also following the American Maven which reached mars 2 days before MoM. A fantastic mission. the ladies role was also incredible.
This was not a all women project but a whole lot of female scientist were involved in it and the mission is called MOM = "mars orbitor mission". The whole story of how they came up with a plan to exhibit this project at such a low cost is an amazing story in itself.

We Indians trust Russia than USA in defense sector. Historically we both have strong political and military connections but not so much in general population due to mainly the language barrier and lack of economic and academic collaboration. But with USA there are more people to people connection. This is due to the fact that with USA we have more economic and academic relationships than Russia. Recently there are some military connections with USA (because USA want to counter china through India in Asia and India want to put pressure on China not to help Pakistan).
It's a Movie on not only India's space mission with very low budget yet successful in first attempt with most of it's material indigenously built but it's also a movie on women empowerment those who can traditionally handle their home and scientifically make India proud and may be that's why it was called MOM-Mars Orbiter Mission

I would've liked a more realistic and grounded movie stressing more on the efforts and the challenges faced by our genius scientists rather than this over dramatised far from reality version of the movie. This feels like they just wanna show the star cast and make a bollywood masala version of everything these days. actors like nawazuddin, pankaj tripathi, irfan would've been perfect choices for a more realistic movie rather than this "perfect star cast". most of us don't even look like these perfect looking actors. i know they are actors and have the right to play any character but they are not convincing enough as scientists. It's just my personal point of view and it doesn't matter what i think, movie is already made. Scientists faced many challenges and i would've liked those at the centre stage. movie is also dedicated to the scientists.

@Swapnil Raj Not necessarily though. he is an average actor. the only reason people are watching him is because of the project he has been taking recently. Nationalism and patriotism is at it's peak in these recent years. he also starred in robot 2.0, houseful 3 both of them were below average movies. There are more capable actors than him in the industry. I hope for a grounded performance and more focus on scientists and their struggle. I pretty sure by looks of the trailer that these will be absent from the movie or the movie will be over dramatised. silly and cheesy dialogues has become the staple in bollywood.

It's good that you guys have seen stars like Alia, Priyanka, Taapsee, Ranveer etc. and compare them to your best not realizing that they are nothing compared to the best that India has to offer, which by the way, you have not seen yet. Actresses and actors like Vidya Balan, Shobhana, Mohanlal and Kamal Haasan are on a whole other level, just mind blowing.
