Unreal Engine 5 Beginner Tutorial Part 8: Materials & Textures Advanced
Вставка
- Опубліковано 7 чер 2024
- In this episode, we teach you advanced material techniques while creating the material for the walls of the spaceship. You will learn how to generate new textures using external software, bring them in as emissive or normal maps, and you'll be able to mix multiple normal maps together to create a more detailed and complex material.

You are a legend for doing this buddy 🤗
@@badxstudio doing this keeps me accountable for completing the series. Plus I really want to learn UE and you guys make it fun and less intimidating 💯
I go back than watch and apply with combinations 3rd time. Now I feel such a smooth control on these basics and I don't feel Unreal such a hard puzzle anymore. These tips even helps to 80 percent of base of my many basic projects about instance materials, randomness to texture, overlay normals etc. I can tell what changed, I feel myself a user with some comfort. Probably that was the one of main goals. Thank you guys for the way you are doing.
Yessss back :) ... it's been a lot of fun so far!
Thank you both for this amazing tutorial ❤
most welcome buddy
you guys are great! thank you♥
Nice work guys. Would be great if you could talk about Material performance impact, while adding more and more textures/nodes to the graph.
Thank you for your awesome tutorials😍👌👌
Love you Mahi
This information is confusing as hell, but you guys make it much easier. Need to watch this one a few times though!
Respect for your work
Love
thank you guys
Another totally awesome tutorial, you guys make it seem so easy...and fun. Enjoying learning from you guys...'Mixing Normals'...I never knew that 10/10
Our pleasure buddy... Happy you are enjoying this!
you guys are awesome!!
Love u !!!
Beautiful 💯 🔥 This is just a joy! #UnrealEngine
great content, is there gonna be a game making tutorial in the future as well???
amazing!!!!!!!!!!!
Dear Bad Decisions Studio, your tutorial has been a great help for an 0 unreal knowledge people like me to learn it. I have one question that really bothering me and I cant find the answer on the internet.
In your Dart Maul video we saw you modified the shape of the body but not the proportion of the body as in the height and such. would that be possible in Unreal to change the proportion of the metahuman body without destroying the rig. Lets say we want our character to be more stylized you know like Bayonetta proportion.
Thankyou for the awesome video. Im not sure if you will respond to this comment but in case you read it perhaps one day you could do another video tutorial.
thankyou for your hard work
Waiting for new one guys ))) Thx
Uploading right now!!!
I made it to part 8. I think I might actually learn Unreal Engine finally...
Going with different design hanger, now I'll have to polygroup-bevel alot again😂🤣 realized after adding Matel_Burnished_steel
Part 8 Ready
Hey guys! been following the unreal tutorial until part 8! soooo awesome.. Thank you so much! i actually want to ask something tho.. do we need to have a great PC setup? Mine is currently running on a GTX 1050 with 32GB DDR2 RAM and an Intel Core i5 processor. The engine still seems capable enough for me to follow the tutorial up to this point, but I'm worried that when I use 'lit' mode, the FPS drops to around 24 FPS and turns yellow. Is it okay for me to continue with this tutorial, guys?
Thanks guys!!!! You're amazing!!!
Glad we could help
you guys are so fucking great! Thank you so much for figuring out how to make these so much fun
hahaha thanks a lot buddy.. We wanted this course to be entertaining
Great series guys! I'm getting a very bad shimmering noise effect that is especially visible in dark spaces, so basically across the entire hangar. It doesn't matter what I do with AA or AO or emissive materials including turning it all off. I also see it in a new empty level with a simple cube casting a shadow onto a flat plane with a directional light and nothing else in the scene. Any ideas? (4090 laptop, updated drivers)
can you cover the fur materials??
bro love ur channel but could you please do a tutorial about unreal engine 5 rigging and etc? how to add bones and animate / how to parent object and metahuman riggig also. and i downt know how to parent object like in blender. if i add a car the tyre, bumber , mirror all are sep not parented how to fix this?
Hey guys! Find a possible solution to add shadows and lighting for gaussian splatting. I've found something like volumetric ray matching. Maybe it can work with splats? Please we need to move on with this technology! Thank you for the amazing vids ❤
I need to be able to make a spaceship!!! Or do you want to collab? Or is there a pre-set of spaceships and cockpits?
One tip: you needn't add the extra parameter and multiply node to the emissivity to make it glow. You can just click on the emissive color and in the Value field (as in H for Hue, S for Saturation and V for value) just type a number higher than 1. The slider won't let you take it higher than 1 but you can type a higher value, like 10. Same result. Fewer nodes. 🙂
PArt 8 Ready
When I goto download JSPlacement, the link takes me to a "broken" version and suggests I use displacement X instead. did you encounter this and did you go with the displacement X? or the "broken" JSPlacement?
Dear Faraz and Farhad, When I enter the normal section in Attribute tab and follow the tutorial, those ugly shapes will disappear but right when I press accept, those ugly shapes on curvy points come back. Is it normal?
how are you guys frist of all thanks a lot for this amazing content second of all can you plz give us the texture that u used in this video like the link instead of downloading the software and create the texture.
How come you did not have to UV unwrap the models you modeled in UE ? and why did you not use a post precessing volume ? Thanks for the tuto's bro's.
6:00 minute in we do UV Unwrap :D Please check it out!
And post process volume is coming in a later chapter we cover it completely and in detail alongside render settings for raytracing and pathtracing. That's one of our most important chapters that we are uploading tomorrow. And you are right ... Post process volume should be added in the beginning of every project, but since this was made for beginners we had to cover modeling and materials before we could show the effect of bloom and exposure and so on in the scene.
Here we go again
"Guys, you're doing great."
Thank you sir
Shouldn't the scratches on the metal be finer in order for the walls to look huge?
That's a good idea! You can absolutely go ahead and change its scaling!
I looked at JSplacement , and it seems like I could write a program in C# to replicate that functionality. I'll try to do that, generate a random image with specifications and filters, then save that image and the normal map.
Using C#, I created it. It can extract a normal map from an image.
This is where my laptop gave up... "Texture streaming pool over budget" "Video memory exhausted" 💀😭😭😭
Spec?
Feeling like Bob Ross mixing these textures up, the shortcuts made the material editor section a breeze, thanks guys see you tomorrow!
You are the modern Bob Ross arn't ya? :D :D :D
Haha very well could be true.. that means I have to follow one of his videos but do it in unreal. saving that for my next project thanks for the idea ! @@badxstudio
about to start the tutorial - I'm scared 😂
ok it was actually easier than the last one!!! 😮💨
