- This video is about the electric heater I'm installing in my shop. It is a challenge for me to heat a 2,000 sqft shop. I looked at all sorts of shop heaters and chose the Comfort Zone CZ2060ER 10,000 watt electric heater. This heater is capable of heating 1500 sqft. I will be building a 500 - 700 sqft room in the shop in the future so this should be good going forward.

Excellent as always sir. Now we can start getting back to resin casting and turning crap... Lol. but for real everything you do is awesome.
I want to get back to that crap too!! Lol
Hey Jake, Thank you so much for this video!! I have a 1200 sq. foot video studio with 18ft ceilings. The building has limited power options so I needed a single heater for the whole space. A buddy of mine (an electrician) and I followed your directions and suspended the unit 13 ft. off the ground. I was worried about the sound of the heater but it's not loud at all! We've had it up for about 2 weeks now and its awesome. Current outside temp is 32 degrees and 75 degrees indoors! Theirs minimal roll-off in heat in the corners -2 degrees max! I am thoroughly impressed with the product and very thankful for you video.
Awesome!! I’m glad I could help you out . 👍👍
That should be a great upgrade for the shop. It'll make working in there better too.
It’s already better.. just the little bit I’ve been out there this week.
Excellent video. I'm going to be adding an electric heater to my 30' x 40' shop. Looks like you helped me find the heater I need. Thanks and great video!
Awesome… I love it .. it works great…
Nice job Jake! I work in a truck shop that heats with propane and has 18ft ceilings. We installed 3 ceiling fans, 55” size I think, and they have helped immensely to push that heat from the ceiling down to the work area. Might be an addition to consider.
Absolutely Andrew.. I have to take a break after lifting that heater by myself.. lol Thanks for watching.
Very nice I need electric heat for my shop..thanks for sharing ✌👊👊
Very welcome. Thank you for watching. 👍👍
Good stuff Jake! Stay warm and have a Merry Christmas!
Thank you Brother!! 👍👍👊
Nice addition! I'll be looking for the A/C upgrade video in about 5 months to slow the exothermic reaction on the resin as well. 😁
The resin room will have its own mini split system. 👍👍👊
@@JakeThompson is that code for a window unit?😂👍
So glad to see you got a heater 😊👍🏻
Whoo hoo!! Lol me too Connie!!
Nice shop upgrade!!! I’ll have to check into those heaters.
I like it so far.. I bet in a smaller shop, it would be awesome!!
@@JakeThompson I’d probably need at least two of those bad boys, I know one thing it’s a love hate relationship with cold weather lol and these metal barns amplify the cold. I just want something that’s quite!
Awesome Jake i know what cold is here in Wisconsin. The wood doesn't even like it.
😂😂😂 There’s no way I would survive there.. lol
Cool. I don’t need a heater here on my island but neat post. Thanks, Jake. Merry Christmas!!
Merry Christmas Kris!! 👍👍
GREAT INFO JAKE .AWESOM VIDEO .MERRY CHRISTMAS TO YOU AND YOURS .FROM DOUG
Merry Christmas Doug.
Nice shop, good luck Jake 🍀👍
Thank you Buddy.. 👍👍👊
nice jake! be warm when im there next time, bit disappointed you didnt reinact the scene from flashdance while welding tho lol
Dangit!! Next time!!! Lol
@@JakeThompson Fine! Ill just visit Mom, at least i know she loves me LOL
For optimal performance of this heater, it calls for 6 awg wire and a 60 amp breaker.
👍👍
Thinking about doing a 7500watt electric heater in my 26x32 shop would you recommend? Getting gas dug in and installed sounds like it’ll be expensive and I can’t really afford it atm
Good Deal Jake, Merry Christmas Brother!
Thank you!! Merry Christmas Steve!!!! 👍👊
One day ill need a heater that big lol... nice one bud
Thanks Brad!! 👍👍😄
Thanks Jake
Keep up the great work!
KB
Thank you!! 👍👍👊
That heater sure looked heavy when you were taking it up that tall ladder!!!
I had to get the Hulk out... You know how I do it.. 😂😂
@@JakeThompson I sure do!!!!
Jake
I’m new to resin casting.
It’s chilly here in Delaware
So I’ve been holding off on casting.
I keep my shop at 57
And warm it up to 60-62 ish
When I turn
Can I mix epoxy and put in a pressure pot at 65?
Then bring it in the house
Cause I heat with a wood stove
Nice and toasty
KB!
I have been doing all my pours at 65 and they stay in the shop... there’s nothing wrong with taking the pressure pot to the house.
Hey jake, great video! How’s the heater going? Update? Recommend?
Thanks Danny
It definitely gets the job done.. I use it to take the chill off.. it is expensive to run all the time, so I just run it for a bit and set the thermostat low.
Nice shop
Thank you!!
It has been almost 2 years..... are you still happy wirh this heater and the size you got? You spend a lot more time in the shop than you did when you made this video, is it still meeting your shop needs?
Yes it’s an awesome heater but it does cost a bit to run.. so I just get it to take the chill out of the shop and it does a fine job
2,000 sq.ft. shop..... Lucky man 🤠
Lol.. I’m not sure about luck.. it comes with a monthly payment.. 😄
why use Pressure pot over Vacuum??.......totally unrelated, just thought id ask :D
You are fired!!!
@@JakeThompson never wanted the job! LOL
hey man I was wondering if you noticed a big difference in your electric bill. Im Working with latex paint acrylic paints and polymer clay
It is a noticeable difference in the bill..I’m going to be smarter about how I use it.. turn it lower at night and such.
You are crazy. The depiction i sent you yesterday was accurate. Glad you're still alive!
Now you need a caddy for the remote. Lol
I almost didn’t make it... or at least need some physical therapy. 😂😄
@@JakeThompson 🤣
@@leahforrest9155 Hey Girl! How you doing?
@@jpwoodwork doing pretty good! How about you? Seen a few of your new videos. Doing a good job. Loved the bowl with the black rim you made!
Stay warm, you don't want that stuff to freeze. You probably don't want to freeze either
Lol Thank you Don! Glad you enjoyed! 👍👍
Good morning Jake
Thanks for the quick response!
I’ve got another question
How long do you keep casting in a pressure pot?
I do small projects
For now.
Like pencil holders in red solo cups.
Thanks KB
Depends on the resin but if I’m doing small pours, it doesn’t hurt to leave it in the pressure pot overnight
@@JakeThompson thanks Jake!
Fuse block...lol
I couldn’t quit saying it.. I even edited some out.. lol 😄😄
Fuse block, I totally get it. I’m also a mechanic.
Red ends usually mean 1/4" steel
👍👍👊
Manufacturers fail to tell you that square footage and cubic footage are completely different an eight foot ceiling is do able with that heater not going to happen in that twelve/fourteen foot ceiling you have since heat rises. Installing fans overhead would more than likely not help.Your salvation will be the room you mentioned
I had to turn it down yesterday afternoon.. it was around 50 outside.. it was almost 80 inside.. I’m pretty impressed with it so far.. I knew going in that it would be undersized, but it’s over performed for me so far... The resin room will be built next year sometime.. I really just needed to get through this winter without breaking the bank.. I think it will work.
Nice
😄😄
Hello I been looking at many youtube videos about this heaer and many people said their electricity went up quiet a bit:( If I buy this electric heater I will be only using it when I play pool in my garage which is once or 2x a month for about 6 or 7 hours. Since I have natural gas I wanted to install a natural gas heater but this sounds expensive to tap into the gas line or run a gas line to garage. However I think on the long run it will be cheaper that the electric heater???
Some people on you tube said it went up to $100 dollars a month others said about $30 or $40?? Anyways I will be installing a 240V outlet into my garage since I will also be getting a used electric car and need to charge it. So if I decide to get this electric heater I will already have an outlet for it. On the videos I see people installing the electric heater high in the ceiling usually on the corner. If i get electric heater can I just use an extension cord to plug it in or iwill it be better if I just install 240V outlet close to ceiling where heater will be?
Mine is hardwired in but I don’t see why you can’t make a heavy duty extension cord.. but of course I’m not going to give electrical advise.. if you just use it a couple times a month, the bill shouldn’t go up too much.. mine is expensive if I run it all the time. I just use it long enough to take the chill off so it doesn’t cost too much
How do you think the Heater you Installed would heat a 3 Car Garage Jake ? I just bought one from Northern Tool.
It will easily heat it.. you will probably have to turn it off all the time . 👍
I just installed the same exact heater and I believe my fan is not turning as fast as it should. Yours sound much louder than mine. I cannot feel the fan/ heat any more than about 8ft away. How far can you stand in the path of the fan and still feel the heat?
Mine is about 10 feet high and if I stand directly in it’s path I can feel it
How many what's, what size breaker you use, thanks.
I used a 50 amp breaker
did you ever relocate the temperature sensor? I just installed mine and the sensor is worthless in its stock location. I am thinking about moving it
I didn’t move anything on mine
Will this work with an existing 220 v outlet?
I got two of the 7.500 heaters for my 30×40 shop do you think will work to keep me at 45 55 i have quail in my shop just need to keep water from freezing
The last couple days it’s been around 0 f and my shop was in the 40’s
Thanks id be alright with that if i don't have to water quail 3 times a day thanks for the input 🙂
ok just checking ,I have the same heater I just nstalled and It came on for 5 minutes and went off and have not had power after that ?
There’s probably a troubleshooting section in the directions
For the cost of paying the gas company to come out and put gas to the shop you could probably run 3 of those heaters during the winter months.
Lol... it might happen.. and a ceiling fan will probably help too.
@@JakeThompson yes sir
I have a question. I installed a 7500w garage heater. I used the 8/2 gauge wire with an 40 Amp 2- pole breaker but when I turn on the breaker. It would shut off all the power and trip the 2-pole breaker. What would you think is the problem?
You should contact a professional for your electrical issues..
@Jake Thompson my electrician guy was installing it. He's not sure what's going on so I thought I asked you of what you think it might be. But thanks
@@beeznestvlogs6981 i don’t need up using a 50 amp breaker.. I put some text in the video explaining it .. I’m sorry but I’ve learned my lessons on giving advise on things like electricity.. I’m just not qualified. I hope you get it figured out.
@Jake Thompson okay thank you for the fast respond. I appreciated it
Did yours start blowing out really hot when you start it up?
Mine seems just be warm and not hot :(
It only took a few minutes to get the shop warmed up.. it’s pretty warm air that comes out
@@JakeThompson thanks...mine is holding but it just didn't blow out hot air...kinda like a steady stream of warm air...just found that wierd
What cable size do u use and what was the breaker size and I have ch option on my box so not to sure what to do
I can’t remember right off hand but it is in the video.
Did you end up using 3/4" or 1" conduit?
3/4
@@JakeThompson thank you!
I have a gas well on my property so I get free gas for both my house and shop. Those electric heaters will kill almost any profits.
It’s a good thing I only have a couple months of bad weather.. 👍👍
@@JakeThompson I wish that was the case here. We have several months of cold so the free gas is a huge benefit. I leave the heater on at all times during the winter. I would like to have one like yours that works on gas because I like the fan.
Would this heater work for a 2000 sq ft greenhouse? Trying to keep it around 70 degrees
My shop is 2000 sq ft an it keeps my shop warm..
Does the heater turn off after 12 hours or can you set it at say 60 degrees and leave it on for weeks and it maintain the temperature? The description online isn’t very clear if it automatically turns off every 12 hours or if you have the option to set it between 1-12 hours. I had planned to use it in a shop where I have to have consistent heat, can’t have it dropping down to winter temps and then only being warm when I’m there. Will be days where I’m not there.
You can habit on full time of set the timer.
@@JakeThompson what is the longest you have ran it for?
@@alexbowen2010 A week
@@JakeThompson any issues or did it run fine? I plan to use mine as a permanent heat source for a small 300 square foot taxidermy shop just to keep it about 60
@@alexbowen2010 No.. it ran fine.. keeps a constant temp.. it is expensive to run it all the time in my big shop but it should keep 300 sq ft heated easily
Do you know how much it cost to run that heater consistently for a month?
Not yet.. I will have to have it for a few months before I can tell.. but the mini split I have in there would never shut off because it couldn’t heat it up past 55 degrees.. so I’m pretty sure this heater will be cheaper than that.
Would 10/2 wire work?
I use what it recommends. That’s probably a question for an electrician 👍
Says 41amps on the box, you put a 40a breaker. Can’t load over 80%, 40x0.8=32.
If you watch the entire video . I changed it to a 50 amp breaker 👍
Actually, 60 amp would be complaint with NEC 424.3(B) which requires 125% coverage (1.25*42 =52.5amp) for electric space heaters under the assumption they have to be capable of running under continuous load (3 or more hours at a time).
@@JakeThompson I watched the entire video. I probably missed that part. 50A is better.
Hello, how much electric has this been using?
It added an extra 100 a month or so.. during the very cold months of winter..
@@JakeThompson gas heat would be 400 plus
@@JakeThompson I'm now considering electric too, thanks for the video! In my area the cost of natural gas is up 50% from a year ago, and electric about 12%, so I'm strongly leaning towards electric for a 700 sq ft attached & insulated garage
8 gauge and 40 amp hmm 🤔
I ended up going with 50 amp and 6 gauge .. I showed it in the video
Ok well on a industrial box is it ok to go with 60 amp on a 6
Why does my contactor keep over heating and blowing up change it twice already same problem?
That’s a question for an electrician
Your shop is more than 3 times the size of my apt... LOL *sigh*
😄😄😁😁
Is that ok to install 50amp breaker for garage heater in a 50amp sub panel ?
You should ask an electrician for that one.. I have 100 amp panel
