Another fine video from hardworking homesteaders Angela & Sam. It sure warms the heart sharing your adventures living as regular folks on your own terms, thank you for sharing.
This thing looks a lot more effective for heating the space then the infrared panels. Clearances and spacing being what they are and all, not sure why you'd mount it to the wall with blocking that hardly changes the angle when you could've just done the ceiling mount orientation at 45 degrees to the corner (so it would really distribute heat out into the room more than just along that wall).
Infrared (radiant) heaters are a much better choice for workshops❗️WHY❓Because they provide instant heat and comfort to the shop worker. Heating the air by a conventional heating element and fan type of unit is more costly to operate + it takes a LOT of time to heat all of the air in the shop. I used a large conventional portable heater in my shop at first. 240 volt 5000 watts. It would take hours to heat the entire shop + I would be working in the cold most of the time😩 Switched over to 2 ceiling mounted radiant heaters made for garage use. 120 volt 1500 watts. One near my workbench and the other elsewhere. In less than 10 minutes I have to turn the one OFF near my workbench because I get too hot. Those 2 radiant heaters use a fraction of the power + I’m perfectly comfortable in just a few minutes. Vast improvement ❗️
I remember you talking about the four white panels in the ceiling some time ago. Aren't those heaters? Just curious. Love the new wall/ceiling mount. God bless
This looks like a great little heater. I have the Dyna-Glo 10,000 watt from Menards in my garage and it does wonders at keeping it warm. A little more expensive than this unit but I really like it.
Nice little heater there, i am going to have to see if it will work for my needs. The amazon link has your video on it now. lol.. Sweet! You are a supastar!
Nice....I should've held out longer before buying mine similar to yours from 3yrs ago. I bought the older model Nov 5th 2023 for $284.14 on Amazon which doesn't come with the ext. thermostat or updated remote. I had just recently took it out of the box and installed it. Mine is in a 12'w X 32' l shed which I am currently insulating. Had been busy with a lot of family members health issues so just got around to installing it. Would've liked to had this one. Hope it works out for you. Keep us updated on it's performance.
Go watch the video he put out about them. The one where he tells you how great they are so that you, unlike him, will lay down your money for them, only to have to buy another product when you realize that he was just paid to sell them to you and that they don’t work worth a damn. If every person who goes through life telling people to believe things that they themselves know to be untrue in exchange for financial incentives were to suddenly vanish, there would only be about 5000 people left on the entire planet…
I looked at electric but it was just cheaper to go with natural gas heater. Being in the city it was just the right choice for me. I can crank it up and your warm even with the door open!
Cool heater, i like the remote thermostat to keep the temp regulated down lower where you are at. What are you going to do for AC? The Tennessee heat will be here before you know it, lol.
Where are you that you are paying.26/KWH? I am in Texas and I am paying .15/ KWH and with this plan I do not pay for electricity from 8:00 PM until 5:30 AM! 😀🛫
Seems like he's always got to have the latest gizmos and gadgets and whatchamacallits and thingamajigs. You seem more down-to-earth when he lived in North Carolina. I enjoyed your videos a whole lot more back then.
Thanks! I did do the wiring myself, as well as build the whole shop. :) Here is a link to my video playlist showing the complete project from start to finish: ua-cam.com/play/PLxHrEOd7lzfE-lKgw0oW4-4yNr5mQTFzl.html
Sam the little heater is is cool how small it is and love the Wi-Fi.I was surprised to see though as I thought you were using those big radiant heat jobs in your celling?? Also surprised you didnt go with a mini split so you had AC for summer? I’m almost done framing my shop now ended up doing 14x45 shop with 12 foot window wall so for me going with two mini splits one at each end.
Anyone know if the Amazon link version comes with the external thermostat? Based on the recent reviews (April 2024), it seems as though they did not and was the major gripe for the product.
Sam wouldn’t an inverter heat pump be a better choice? I am in west Texas and have a small shop 700 square feet and I have a Mr Cool diy 24,000 BTU unit it works great and very is efficient. And in TN you could use dehumidification there. 😀🛫
Living in Minneapolis I need a little more heat than you all do in Tennessee. If I am heating an insulated attached garage approx 800 sq ft, could I use two of these heaters in the same space?
With the offgrid power system i think that would be an awesome thing to have, but what about just paying the light bill like normal..i saw with drone shots during ur vids u have solar panels all over for everything...maybe once u can have the $$ to buy that setup,,but to pay that bill every month😱😱sure that would suck...also do u have to keep ur garage a certain temp for the laser and cnc?? I know u have to keep the co2 laser warm all the time cause the tune will break...i just redid my garage and slowly starting a little side hustle, and want either a cnc to learn or a xtool laser...which would u start with??? Thanks man...what a beautiful shop...i drool every time i see it
Do you think this would work in a 2 bay 24'x24' garage that is not necessarily as well insulated as your shop? I'd like to work in the garage during the winter in NJ and do some detailing and looking for a good unit to heat up the space. I'm assuming you keep it on all the time and the thermostat turns it off when it's up to temp?
And wondering how it compares to a more robust 10,000 watt unit at similar pricing. Heatstorm claims it heats up to 1800 sq. ft, call me skeptical. I'm heating a 750 sq. ft. 3 car insulated and finished garage.
I have a question I just bought this heater and I’m holding up a 3 prong 30amp dryer cord to it , the wires on the cord aren’t colored so does it matter which one goes to L1 or L2? I know it’s the outside wires just don’t know if it matters , also do I hook the middle wire to the middle screw in between the other 2 wires or to the green screw or just leave it unhooked, thanks for any help
I have a home office in the basement of my house... have lots and lots of inventory, work tables and shelving. Standard space heaters are installed but don't do a good job, as the "heat" stays near the heaters/walls. Would you say this would be a good addition? Or is it too noisy to have in a home-office environment? I would love a split ac/heater, but as it gets well below -15C (at that temperature they are no longer efficient), I am considering other solutions with fans/blowers so the hot/warm air gets moved around. (celling fan is not an option as its a 7-1/2 height and a 20 x 25 room).. I could install it in a corner, above a tv/library nad it happens to be furthest from where I sit/work
Sam, what is the exact model number of the one that includes the external thermostat? The one in the Home Depot links Q/A says it doesn’t work with an external thermostat and it doesn’t say it’s included. To me that’s the must have feature. Thanks!
Once you pair up the external thermostat, does the unit then use that to determine the temperature setpoint? Like say you had it paired up and put the external thermostat in a cold corner. Would the unit then keep running until that cold corner was warmed up to the desired temperature or is it still based on the unit itself and the temperature of it?
Um - I never understand why people heat the hot air on the roof and leave the cold air on the floor. - my heater is at floor level and when it spews out hot air it causes turbulence (the hot air rising) and you get a warmer room with less energy expended. You can also have a ducted fan to pull cold air up to mix with the hot on the roof or hot air down to mix with the cold on the floor. To see this in action - use incense and follow the smoke...
I WOULD HAVE PLACE THE HEATER ON THE CEILING AS FAR AS YOU COULD FROM THE BREAKER BOX TO THE CENTER AND MIDDLE OF YOUR SHOP TO HAVE A BETTER AIR FLOW AND AWAY FROM YOUR EQUIPMENT FROM BLOWING DUST ON OUR EQUIPMENT THE WAY YOU HAVE IT YOU WILL HAVE COLD AND HOT SPOTS. I WOULD HAVE GOTTEN A MINI SPLIT HEAT PUMP WITH CEILING CASKET THAT WOULD HAVE GREAT AIR FLOW WITH YOUR HEATING AND COOLING WHAT THE COST OF KILOWATT HOUR?
I’m always concerned about dust in a wood shop and exposed heating elements. Does anyone agree that with dust in wood shop you don’t want something that can cause a fire?
6000 watt holy crap I hope you have cheap power rates. The cost of power for that unit would kill me here in Canada. Id pay a bit more and put a heatpump in
Why would you want the heater up high? You will just be reheating the air that is already hot. You want it down low where it can pull in the cold air more efficently.
I know there are factors, but you never said how much you spend on running it. Does not help us :( I have a 7500 watt electric heater and it does heat nice, but dang it really jacks up the electric bill.
@@robertwojtowicz933 Electric heating is actually 100% efficient, technically‼️However, that efficiency number comes at a price, and a very high one at that. It is extremely expensive to heat anything with electricity‼️

🎉 YAY YOU!!!🎉
Congratulations on your new heater!
I hope you enjoy it for many years to come!
Hi Angela and the boys!✌️💖🙏🤜
I believe that the best heater is a split AC unit, it has much higher efficiency and it can cool in the summer as well
Nice heater! I about busted a gut when the Vanna hand showed up! Too funny!

I think his wife was editing and needed to make that shot so she improvised, haha, what do you think?
That’s a good heater Sam but what about the 4 infrared heaters in the ceiling
I was just going to ask that!
Seems like another sponsored product like the infrared ones
Come on let him make a little money on sponsorship lol

Its a nice little heater i would have recomended a mini split as they are super efficient down to 4 outside temp
I want to get a mini split at some point, but had to have heat now for the CO2 lasers in the shop through winter.
No time to do it properly but plenty of time to do it thrice.
Great video Sam… love the helping hand lol….. I thought those 4 large white ceiling squares you installed were heaters.
When are you going to show the building of the connection tunnel? I've been looking forward to seeing it.
When it is done.
how does this compare to a gas heater as far as monthly costs

Yep! It goes by the temp on the unit wherever it is -- within range.
only thing its missing is a filter on the back so it doesn't become a flamethrower once its filled with sawdust.
Great idea!

I detest cloud services, but remote via wifi is very useful.
What's up with the little plastic Hand? Like the video as always very informative.
Epic!!
I'm confused, I thought you put 4 heaters in the ceiling.
Why not a 36k mini split.....
Get review on this unit so I bought one and will have it mid week and get it installed into my garage! Video coming soon!
Pmsl 😂😂😂😂 Deadpool hand 😂😂😂
No way i would do a electric garage heater. Propane or gas for me in Northern Mn.
How come you didn’t put a mini split heat pump, air conditioner they’re much quieter and probably cheaper to run summer and winter
Strange that this device has electronics in it but doesn’t use a neutral for the 120v control circuits.
Sam how is your feet as I remember you have/had some issues that sometimes it becomes hard to walk for you I hope your better my friend
