Great question! Surflon is also braided stainless steel rope but with a vinyl coating and made specifically for fishing. I got a good deal on a big spool 🧵 awhile back so I use it to make up the more proximal half of my leaders to conserve the super heavy duty stuff that is meant to be chew proof. Interesting fact about the 300 pound rated cable on the forward end: The type I use isn’t even intended specifically for fishing.
