- Hi all!
Guess who's back? Christopher Ward - THAT'S who!
They are offering some hot watches recently and their latest is an absolute SCORCHER! I managed to get my hands on the Astral Blue 'The Twelve' in titanium and I've got some thoughts on it.
You guys had some questions for me so I'll get those posted in a bunch of Shorts so they're bitesize 👌
As always, remember to make sure you've liked and subscribed for more of my horological ramblings!

Christopher Ward are doing so much right at the moment. Their finishing & build quality is excellent
I completely agree. They're improving quite a lot in a short space of time!
“The Twelve” reminds me of the Twelve Apostles! It can keep Jesus on my mind when wearing it! Another great watch from CW! I love the blue steel!
Watch brands exist to make money and most of them jump on trends. No problem with it. Maybe a little late for CW, but this style of watch might just be here to stay. CW were actually honest about the inspirations for this watch in the marketing materials, which I found refreshing. If you are into this type of watch, this is definitely a solid offering.
Not trolling, but for the same $ I like Nivada Grenchen F77 a lot better and it’s smaller, which I dig. Nice review as always🥂
And its a re-issue like the PRX, so has a excuse to exist other than bandwagon jumping.
Ahhh this isn't trolling at all! Opinions are welcome! I've never been hands on with a Nivada so can't comment, but I'll definitely look into them more now!
CW are bringing out a smaller version which I think will be better for a lot of people.
Thank you!
If that's something that bothers you then I totally appreciate this!
The F77 does not wear smaller IMO and not as nice looking. This model comes in 36 as well
I was looking at the ice blue PRX Powermatic, but now I'm considering the blue titanium model of the Twelve reviewed here. Besides always wanting a nice titanium watch, the SW300 with the higher power reserve and the COSC rating are important to me. The legibility of the titanium dials for the Twelve seems to be a bit better, which does matter to me. I really hope CW has some of these to check out in person at Chicago Windup next month. I know quite a few variants (including the one reviewed here) are only available as pre-order, but I just want to get hands on with a watch when I'm considering spending that much money. Great review!
I love that watch, the dial is stunning, great value for money CW watches, exceptional quality
It's a bold dial for sure. Really fun to photograph! They are improving with every release.
Lucy i've just seen another new release of theirs its called the Atoll, beautiful colour,I'm going to stop looking lol.
Yes! The Atoll watches are also fantastic new releases. Love the simple Shark White!
Great review Lucy!
Loved seeing this on Sunday.
Totally with you on the dial being too busy.
They had a stunning case shape and bracelet and then someone in the design team went, “what about a 3D printed logo pattern dial too!”
Loved the feel of the quality of the watch and certainly the dial is striking, but at the cost of subtlety. The bracelet and the bezel are so beautiful the dial just feels like it’s shouting for attention too. But overall an incredible value piece. And feels fantastic on the metal!
I have the blue Twelve titanium. It is quite honestly more beautiful in real than on pictures or youtube vids. After two days the accuracy is 1-2 sec a day, the bracelet is very comfortable and beautiful. The lume is more than good. So as a conclusion after one week: it seems to be worth the hype. It is a definite keeper! More CW’s to come!!
I would choose this one over the PRX at any time, but if I can choose one from Christy, I would took Trident since I'm diver snob haha
Haha its like an elevated version imo. Haha the Trident is a very good choice!
Good honest review Lucy....looks like a nice watch despite it's Genta persona, although will pass judgment once I have personally handled one. Keep up the great reviews 👍
Thank you! Haha as a stand alone piece it does hold itself well. I'd be intrigued to hear your thoughts if you do handle one!
Thank you!
Similar? Yes...Too similar? Not at all! You're spot on, there's a lot of other Genta inspired pieces on the market but I really think The Twelve adds something to the Genta esc category, especially with the dials they have packed into them. Also, completely agree with 'THE TWELVE' makes me think of a 70's American police show with a main character who loves to bend the rules to get the right judiciary result
It is a fantastic Genta inspired watch. There will of course be die hard fans who won't like this 'copy' but as a stand alone piece it's a winner imo!
😂 I'd totally watch that show!
I love every stylized part of this watch; the face, the indices, the bracelet, the case. All together they don’t seem to work, tho. Too busy, maybe.
A little editing would go a long way I think. If they made the 36mm with a more simple dial, I think it would be a winner!
Another winner Lucy. Great review and attention to detail. There are just to many great watches tempting me these days…..And it’s all your fault 😂
Thank you!
😂😂 I'm not even sorry about it because I put myself in that situation too 😂
I really want to get this watch but apparently they're working on a smaller version. My two choices would be between the purple or the blue that you got. By the way random question, if you were getting a watch to celebrate reaching the UA-cam Partner Program what would you get and why?
I have the Purple one on order.
It's a gorgeous colour! Congratulations!
These intrigue me, but theres something I cant quite put my finger on that stops me buying it. Maybe its the brand identity - seems like they are just seeing what sticks.
Oohhh that's interesting! I think they may be playing with ideas and trying to expand their catalogue past their usual diver style watch. I do think the Bel Canto came out of nowhere tbf 😂
The Twelve! Its giving Avengers Assemble.
😂😂😂 YES! THIS TOO!!!👏👏👏
Pound for pound you just can't buy a better watch especially in today's market. I've got the CW C65 Dune GMT LTD Edition I've had more comments made about it than my higher priced pieces. Even a Rolex AD respected the make!
I'm on the hunt for a Belcanto.
Good luck! They're hard to come by!
Christopher Ward is a good, honest brand, but I just have difficulty respecting them when they don’t have in-house movements and their designs are quite derivative. The Christopher Ward Atoll, with its enamelling, is approaching Anordain-level of intrigue.
Lovely video as usual!
If they started producing their own movements the price would need to increase by quite a lot. Do you think people would still be purchasing them? 🤔
I have seen those too and they look great!
An in-house movement would kill the value CW offer, which is a large of the appeal I think
Well, Citizen is also in-house hehe
@@ahha6304 apples and oranges. You're talking about a gigantic brand that produces millions of watches a year versus a very small company. Citizen also owns Miyota. Oris would be the cautionary tale. Were a great value brand but now the prices have gone bonkers with the introduction of the Caliber 400
CW do have an in-house movement the SH21 which they first produced in 2014 I believe. Sadly they haven't used it much.
Great video Lucy. I am a huge fan of CW (I own the Bel Canto Azzuro...yessss!...., the Aquitaine Bronze and the bespoke C65 Royal Marines Commando). This Twelve will be a pass for me as, if it may be the love son between many fathers and mothers (gross!), the end result might be a kind of Frankenstein creature....
Haha a great choice of CW pieces there. The Commando is a cool watch 👌clean, crisp and a good story!
Interesting concept but I do kinda understand what you mean 😂 a little editing would have helped this be a winner to more people I think.
Another day another integrated bracelet watch.
This whole integrated SSS craze must be nearly over, without having handled the watch I would say this has no reason to exist other than the trend, without any history in the field and late to the game I wonder how many they will sell. Also CW's new tagline annoys me
"Do your research!" Kiss my bum.
😂 Not a fan of this 70s revival I see! Haha
The guy who designed it did used to work for Czapek I believe so that might have something to do with it 🙈 but they're saying it's 13 years in the making so maybe they just took too long to release it? 🤷♀️
Is that actually their tag line?! Oh boy. Maybe they need to rethink that 😂
👍
Yeah, it looks very like the Atlantique.
We need a ss option with the purple dial.
I'm sure it will come!!!
Annoying.
Hey! What are you referring to?
@@TheWatchBoxDiariesThemself.
@vincent67239 the watch, the brand or me? Haha
