    I think the only thing I've continued to come across that I just completely disagree with is the idea that you can't blow out the flame of a candle for candle spells and that you have to snuff it instead. We've all been raised with the idea of blowing out birthday candles to make a wish, why is it suddenly a bad thing and where did that even come from?

      Breath is such an integral part of my practice (along with sound, speaking, song, etc) that **not** blowing out the candle seems so much weirder. The idea that I could 'blow away' the energy is so bizarre to me. Breath was a gift from Odin in the Norse myth, bet that I use that gift for my magic!

      Supposedly, it's the idea that blowing it out sends the energy away from you. Though, considering most people nowadays practice indoors, I'm not sure where those people think the energy would be going.

    I also don't go around bragging I'm a witch. I tell people I'm spiritual unless I know they understand it. People judge you. I've had other "witches" not understand what I experience and act afraid! I keep in on the DL. I have also been humbled 2000 times by Odin that I better keep it on the DL.

    Agree so much about the eco friendly bit! Especially when I see people doing massive 'witch' hauls from certain unethical online shops, that is so harmful to the environment not to mention the energy of those items can't be very good. They argue that they cant afford to buy things from more ethical places, but the thing is you dont need to buy anything! Most of my materials and tools are (respectfully) taken from outdoors, the energy is already there and it is free so there is really not much excuse

      I always hate the "I can't afford it" argument. You can always save your money for something better. We live in such a fast pasted environment that people always think they need things right away. I personally find it more rewording and gratifying to save and work up to something. I would rather save my money and support my fellow witches/pagans/practitioners then amazon. I totally agree with you to about how we can find most of our tools outside or not needing them at all. I think a lot of people see videos of people with these big witchy rooms and all these supplies and feel that's how their craft needs to be as well. Not realizing that a minimalist practice is just as valid.

    I literally yelled "THANK YOU" when you talked about charging crystals! And then I screamed "YESSSSS" when you mentioned being eco-friendly. Seriously, what are you doing if you don't try to do the best you can with sustainability or if you carelessly harm the earth you claim to love so much? COME ONNNNN. I've been wanting to make a video about it because I think a lot of witches are doing harm without realizing it. And, in my opinion, one of the best ways to honor the earth is to fight for her.

    I think almost all of these takes I agree with! However, I'd say for the term witch and witchcraft being less specific: Witch/witchcraft was terminology used by the oppressors. The peoples weren't out there calling themselves witch or anything, it was the (mostly) religious folks who wanted to convert the peoples to their beliefs by striking fear for the practice. And it was applied to every type of craft and even things completely unrelated to the craft. So I think its more of a reclamation of the term that people use it today for so many different practices and crafts cause it was (and still is) used so widely on things and people. So no, yoga isn't inherently witchcraft, but you CAN use yoga in your craft. And there are plenty of religious nuts who are gonna call us witches anyways, might as well claim it :D Just my 2 cents! Great vid! I loved your point that if you're content you probably don't really need to do spellwork, as its a means of change! Loved that.

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  10 місяців тому +5

      Oh totally agreed that it’s a reclamation thing. Oftentimes probably also just a lack of terminology thing… like, what do you call yourself if you like yoga and astrology and oracle cards..? With regard to working with spirits as a prerequisite to being a witch: do you mean entities or energies? Because for me plants and crystals I work with for example have their own energy and spirit, but I don't do spiritwork in the sense of ancestors/deities etc. At least not yet. But I still consider myself a witch.

I totally disagree with her statement on that one because it doesn't invalidate my practice by not working with deities, while I do work with other variables for their properties. I just started in my journey a few months ago but I’ve made a potion using my period blood because to me that seemed like the easiest best way for me to do blood magic. I essentially just put my tampon in water and started adding herbs and things to it. I’m about to charge it in the full moon and use it for spells, mainly by using it as sort of a water color base on paper. To add even more magic, I was wearing the tampon at a special event that felt really magical to attend!

    the last one was so real for me, as i have always been more a reader than a practicioner. i feel like i reached a stage in my personal practice where i am more concerned with rereading the material of the books i have already read than consuming the material from books i have yet still to read.
    and the imposter syndrome part is so important to talk about! social media makes us reach a lot more practicioners which just gives space for imposter syndrome to develop.
    social media can be an amazing tool to create community, but people need to be aware a lot of times practicioners are making content for clout and overdramatizing their magical experiences (kind of what happens with different new channels trying to overdramatize events to compete with other channels)

    I would have to disagree with your definition of Witch. To me witch is a word of power and by calling myself a witch I am working with the spirit of the witch/ archetype of the witch. In history many different people were labeled as witch just for being different, like woman not being married, or simply in vengeful ways of just wanting someone else to be in trouble so they called someone a witch to get them persecuted. I am a pantheist and I am a witch. No I don't think yoga is witchcraft but there is still room for a much broader definition. I do very much agree with being Eco conscious as a witch.

    I actually put new crystals back into the earth for a couple of days in my garden when they first arrive to cleanse them. I have no idea 🤷🏻‍♀️ where I got the idea from at all but I’ve been doing it for decades. I don’t charge crystals at full moons. I do sometimes put all of the items I’m going to use in a full moon ritual or working out under the moon 🌝 but this is only rarely as I do most of my spell work at dark moon 🌚 🖤
    It really gets on my nerves how often I see/read/hear people say you shouldn’t do workings at the dark moon, sigh 😞 I work with dark gods & goddesses & this is their time! Or at least it’s the time they want me to work with them & yep my blood 🩸 is the offering they like best.

    I agree with many things you said. We do slap the term witch onto anything remotely new age or esoteric, and your example of yoga is so true. But I think some of that stems from some Christian groups thinking all these things and more are witchcraft. I also believe that a witch is a certain type of magical practitioner and that not everyone is a witch. I don't follow the usual advice on crystals either. some say if a crystal breaks, it's done its job and you have to bury it to give it back to the earth. But the earth breaks rocks all the time, we break crystals when pulling them from the planet, we break crystals and rocks when we shape them to fit our needs, to make spheres and statues, etc. or to polish them. so this rule on disposing of a broken crystal makes no sense to me at all. I also believe crystals don't need to be charged, or that they soak up so much negativity that they break or get lost somehow. If we use soil to cleanse negativity, it's made up of plant material and tiny bits of stone and crystals. About blood, many religions had blood sacrifice, so they understood the power of blood. to give a drop of our own to a spell is similar. It uses the same thing, blood. and of course, it should go without saying that if you work with the earth's energies you should also care for the earth as well.

    I'm very much a baby witch (only a few weeks into figuring out this path Im drawn toward) and putting a lot of pressure on myself to learn/read as much as possible so hearing that is great.
    I'm 31 years old and had no directional path whatsoever. Never was religious. Never was spiritual. Then my mom died last year and I had nothing to ground me. I was floating in zero gravity with no beliefs and no structure.
    I've approached witchcraft with Imposter syndrome due to having no beliefs to suddenly realizing what I DO believe in. I've been trying to absorb as much information as possible as fast as possible so it was really beneficial for me to hear your words about it not being good to read so much.

      Hello! As someone who’s been practicing for 5 years, I just wanna say- please don’t burn yourself out with it. When I started I spent SO MUCH of my time researching and doing spells left and right that I ended up getting burnt out and not practicing again for almost another year. Listen to yourself and take it slow. Practice things like learning to ground yourself and learn to manipulate your own “energy”. Ya know, your physical energy, your emotions, your mood. Stabilize yourself before you throw yourself into the deep end. But of course if you wanna go full head on, go for it, you will make it I promise you.

      My suggestion is to see if a deity wants to work with you. It's really powerful and exciting. They will show you things and be "in your corner." They also provide a flavor, meaning they are associated with certain traditions that can help you discover your magic. I asked an Egyptian God to come forward and I got Sekhmet!!! She is so cool. All you have to do is say to the sky: "Will a God please come forward who wants to work with me?" Wait for the signs, and there will be signs. ❤

    I follow a danish podcast on witch trials in Denmark, and there the definition is a whole lot broader than just working with spirits - so historical speaking, I think it really depends on what time period and what location you use as a reference, cause these 2 are scientists, writing scientific papers and being the head of HEX! - museum of witchhunts

    • @anjaradaljac6540
      @anjaradaljac6540 10 місяців тому +2

      yes, i agree. there are different models of magic also and no one really knows, where the magic comes from. the definition in this video is very very narrow and exclude a lot of witches, even the ones working with energies (different from "spirit") and all who are agnostic and/or atheist. witchcraft is a craft, not a belief and to exclude every person who is in the craft, but does not work with or even believe in spirits is just very strong gatekeeping.

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  10 місяців тому +3

      @anjaradaljac6540 I think you should reconsider what gatekeeping is… I’m not keeping anyone from practicing. As I said in the video, this is only what I believe the word means. MY belief… I’m just a random person on the internet, I don’t have the power to keep any gates to this practice 😅 in the end it doesn’t matter to anyone what I believe the word means.

    • @anjaradaljac6540
      @anjaradaljac6540 10 місяців тому +1

      public persons who have a lot of followers, have a lot of power. a lot of people will listen to your definitions and will feel excluded. of course it is a gate keeping, if you say you need to work with spirits to be a witch and you don't say that there are other models of magic for example. you just exclude and don't give any historical or societal reason why. there is a great reason for witch being an umbrella term (more than one!) and also, it is a craft, it is not a religion. a lot of the times those get mixed up and it does a great deal of harm to community, because it make it seem as tho the craft is religion when it is not. you can work with gods, spirits, energies, your own intentions etc. the craft doesn't even need the corespondences, you can only do the work in the astral realm. why would you even propose such a narrow view with zero argument?

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  10 місяців тому +2

      Even talking about religion vs craft you’ll encounter people defining witchcraft differently. There are quite a lot of people defining it as a religion. There’s just not one set definition. And I’m literally saying in the video that it’s just my opinion and in the end it doesn’t matter what anyone calls themselves or if I would call anyone else a witch. I think we should be allowed as creators to state our opinion without constantly being accused of gatekeeping. I didn’t say „this is how it is, it’s a fact, deal with it“. There’s a big difference.

    • @anjaradaljac6540

      one of the videos of yours that were really so great to me, was the one about shamanism. there was a lot of research, great arguments and so many great information. i also love your videos about north paganism even tho i am not a north pagan myself. i see those videos as being very informative and politicaly sound. we need videos as those. but this definition really doesn't sit well with me, because the witch has a long tradition as a political term too. it was a political term all along. so reapropriation of this term is so empowering to so many marginalised people. it is very important to be mindful of this. it is problematic how the word pagan is being thrown around, for example, but witch ... this is a political term too and it has such a great impact and so much power for so many people. also: it is very broad term. i can get behind the idea the term should be used with more precision, like what type of witch someone is, but to just take a very narrow definition without the research you include in your other videos ... i think it is problematic. and i think you do realise your words have power, you are a witch and an youtube creator, cmon. you know what you say matter.

    I personally charge everything I use in my magical practice. For me, it’s more about the ritual of charging my items with a certain intention in mind. It’s step one of all my workings, it puts me in the right headspace and helps me connect to the items that will be used on my craft. But I also don’t think it’s necessary, but more of an optional step for people like me who need that extra time with their tools before using them.
    To me, it’s kind of like sketching in pencil before going on with ink. It forces me to slow down and get a solid idea of what I’ll be doing before I do it.

    I agree with you for the most part. I am curious what a witchcraft practice looks like without spellwork. Or perhaps the better question would be to ask your definition of spellwork. Would a person who calls themselves a witch who doesn't do magical workings still be a witch if the extent of their practice simply involved spirit relationships? And in your opinion what do spirit relationships look like if they are not reciprocal or transactional? Purely devotional? Then would this be more of a spiritual practice rather than a witchcraft one? I'll leave it here and hope maybe this inspires perhaps another video? Looking forward to hearing more from you!

    15:10 totally agree with you! 🙌 Too much time spent trying to copy someone else’s spells etc isn’t going to work well for you, you need to put your own energy and stuff into it, it might work but never as well as your intuitive stuff would! I also 100% agree with the crystal thing! I think just washing them off or smudging off the recent energy is enough, as I do believe everything people touch or are around enough, does take on a little of their energy but it won’t be anywhere near like the natural energy of a crystal or something, so I think you just sort of clean it off like you clean anything you first buy and then it just gives off it’s natural energy again but it doesn’t need a moon charging or anything, well, unless it’s to put some lunar energy into it for some purpose that you’d be using it for pretty soon maybe? 🤔 but I agree with you, charging other items, especially newer stuff and stuff that grows from seed new each season definitely makes more sense than a crystal that’s been sitting and forming in the earth for thousands of years! I also agree with the environment thing! I hate littering to a weird degree 😂 it’s like it irritates my soul when I see it and I have to tidy it up or call someone out for it if I see it! It upsets me to see people disrespecting and damaging the earth, nature and animals and I definitely don’t think you’re truly connected with the earth and nature if it doesn’t bother you or you’re ok doing it! This is why you’re one of my favourite people! 🥰❤️❤️❤️

    The thing about reading is very interesting and I never thought about it like that but for me I agree. I find that my practice has been much more successful after I started experimenting more and going off the books. I mean it's called a practice for a reason, you have to do things with your knowledge to progress. There are also so many things that you just cant learn from reading books or articles or watching videos even. Yes reading and learning that way is very helpful, but it's not everything.

Also the fact that we all love the earth and say how we respect the nature around you but still mass purchase crystals that are mined from the earth in mass quantity with no regards to sustainability

    Frigging YES!
    I think we should create an online community where we don’t make up things like tarot being a closed practice, calling energy feminine or masculine is “offensive” even if the person who does isn’t requiring others to refer to them the same way, “everything is valid” just meaning it’s okay to be harmful if you say you need to, the fair folk are not going to kill you our ruin your life just because tiktok said so (though you NEED to be respectful, but that goes for all things really)…. Chronically online folk are just…woof
    Agree with the crystals, neutral on the term witch (Though I think reserving it for animists or people who are not secular/do believe in the spiritual realm is not at all a bad idea.) Blood and sex magic are too taboo. Blood is incredibly strong and a fantastic way to really bind to an intention or spell. Period blood is the only blood we can collect without harming oneself 🤷‍♀️
    You don’t have to be zero waste or vegan but like…absolutely. Being wasteful, pouring salt on the forest floor, and being generally disrespectful towards our beautiful planet…. How are you a witch if you do that?
    Agree on the spell work. I think connecting is more important than casting.
    Researching instead of practicing is something I’ve absolutely been guilty of 😂 agree!

    Many issues seem to come down to thinking about what we are doing and why, rather than just doing things because someone else is doing them, or we read something somewhere. Gaining knowledge and multiple perspectives is definitely important, but at the end of the day, aren’t witchcraft and paganism supposed to be about discovering one’s own path? Seeing how many people act and react, it seems they really want to be lead and not think for themselves. I agree with some of your points, and disagree with others. Ultimately for me, the important thing is they all gave me something to think about and potentially learn from. Thank you! 💚

    I think i have a problem with reading too much (as a beginner), and maybe that's why besides a few little instances, i never actually started practicing. I think i was terrified that I'll do something wrong? I'm the type of person that generally wants to figure out everything first and then start doing. But i guess it won't work here 😅 And maybe more time in real life and less time spent watching witchcraft videos would help too. I guess I'll take a break from all the reading and try to figure things out myself?

    I wouldn't say that you need to be an animist, becouse that word is interpreted in many ways. I would say, that you need to work with the energies/spirits of nature. The elements, the planets, moon phases, crystals, herbs, animal spirits, land spirits, nature dieties etc.

    14:16 I totally understand what you are getting at, and I agree, people can invoke change by offering and praying to a certain deity it doesn't have to be spells, but also gardening, cooking, using herbs to heal that doesn't involve magic I totally understand, and I believe it's valid. Wisewomen back in medieval days knew how to get rid of rats and rodents because they had black cats and brooms to lower the risk of plague and diseases. Witch is obliviously mostly use for someone who does practice magic, but it can be used for someone that just knows things that aren't common for people to know, like divination is a great example.

    Per the social media angle, I have to be mindful of consuming too much witchy content. There are a lot of wonderful creators who are incredibly talented and live in beautiful places and have the time and talent to showcase the natural spaces around them. I live in a town that is trapped between its rural farming town roots and the more modern gentrification and city-like aspects. I have a regular completely non-witchy job as well. Sometimes that content can make me insanely jealous of a life I am fairly certain I don't even want. Which is rough, I love to see others putting things to practice, because just reading doesn't 100% allow someone to form a functional practice, but whoooo when its been a long time since I could get out into pretty natural spaces, or work is taking its toll, it can be easy to forget how curated content can be.

    So I think I'm the only person who will kindly agree to disagree on your statement if you don't work with spirits you shouldn't be calling yourself a witch. That's totally false to me. When I started my practice was totally secular,however it did evolve after certain events in my life. The short of it is that practioners who don't appeal to,work with,or honor spirits, does not make their spellwork and spirituality less validated at all. My thought process is in modern times, more people are coming into their own power. It's my energy, my blood, my time, my harnessing and channeling of energy into something that will achieve my desired result and almost every time I've had fantastic results. The rest of your hot takes are about 90% right on though. It's nice to have these chats as well.

    I personally don’t understand why crystals are… in anyway more powerful than … rocks. They definitely have their own energy cause like, everything does. But it feels very capitalism-y that the minerals that have the most power just happen to be the most expensive and shiny. I think if your connecting to a spirit that likes shiny things or a deity that is associated with a certain crystal (like hades being associated with wealth and minerals) then I think they make great offerings. Or if you just are a magpie and likes shiny things and finds it easier to connect with shiny rocks then go for it, but as someone without a lot of money to spurge on every type of crystal, I don’t like the fact that the materials that I actually have easy access to are reserved to like ‘put a rock on the windowsill to keep thieves away’ like love the spell but maybe if we treated rock and stone types the same way we do crystals then it might make witchcraft slightly less consumerist. For example I personally associate ironstone with strength and protection and it’s going to be more effective than a crystal just because on a physical level it is stronger than most crystals. There’s also the fact that it’s very difficult to know where crystals are being sourced and even if they aren’t being mined in exploitative conditions, then there’s the fact that mining is always very damaging to the environment where it’s being mined, and the mining itself is almost always outsourced to 3rd world country’s that work for cheaper labour. Which still is not particularly good. I also believe that something that has been mined out of its natural little mineral home will not be particularly happy to be polished and shipped to a completely different areas of land that it cannot be particularly spiritually connected to, as opposed to a rock you found on a local walk which knows the land and the associated spirits. (There’s also the fact that historical witches wouldn’t have had access to crystals and they did fine without).
    Wow that was long, hey anyone who made it down here. I like rocks and think they deserve more credit. How was your day?

    it's interesting to think that people could really get offended by opinions, but i guess that is where the internet thing comes on where everyone loves getting offended... I don't know if I agree with the not being a witch when not working with spirits.... part of me agrees, part of me thinks people use things in spellwork for correspondences that have proven useful over time, like chamomile for healing and calming, mint for purification... believing plants can aid in that, does that require working with their spirit? for me working with a spirit means building a connection over time, do witches do that with every herb, paper, pen, candle, any tool they use? i think i have to think on that a bit more haha

  • @Fleur_Ink94
    @Fleur_Ink94 2 місяці тому

    For me, watching others does not influences me that much, of course, I do crossreferencing before I'd incorporate into my practice anything new that I fancy because it ALIGNS with what I already do. Being an enchantress (not a witch, don't mix the two interchangebly!) is a completely different path in the Hungarian folklore, but as such, it is quite a flexible road to roam, which I am greatefu for deeply. My practice is heavily localized so I do not know how to give any advice, and I'd rather stay aways from it, as your path might end up completely different from mine. But my hot take is: one cannot practice outside of their cultural heritage, or it will become an instant cultural appropriation, wether you like it or not, it is true, as intention, by the most used definition does not matter when you commit it. You committed CA? Your intentions are the least important in the situation, it happaned, you apologize and do not do it anymore. My practice is also quite minimalist, hence to avoid being unintentionally racist - I remember that my whiteness, despite of my mixed ethnical background, is a huge billog on myself, that I cannot wash away. I do listen more of others than to force my own authencity as my authencity can turn into hurting others. I value community more over individuality, so we can live together in peace. Putting myself aside is the first thing I consider in eeevery case. May be a hot take as Social Media predicts modern spirituality focusing on individuality. But without being collectivist, you cannot achieve your greatest potential. So, to sum up my own hot takes:
    1. Community first you last
    2. I only take in practices from outer influencees if it alignes with my vaues and my already set path
    3 My practice is quite minimalistic, and heavily localized, based on Hungarian traditions and for outsiders motly unknown sacred, secret methods I am not allowed to share.
    4. Whiteness is a sickening virus that must be eliminated - it is the root of all our problems on Earth. Yes. I consider my existence as a problem even thoug I am not responsible for what appearance I was born with, I still shame myself heavy for what impact on Earth it left.
    5. Negativity is not BAD! Or not always. There are some cases where you have to feel the negativity i. e. sadness, grief, etc. to be fully able to process the events occuring in the most healthy possible ways you have access to. Toxic positivity is as sickening as dwelling into negativity constantly.

The last thing I'll say, which is slightly off topic, is that I don't caste any sort of spell that would affect the lives of others unless i have their permission. It's not so much that I have an issue with seeing blood or that other people use it in their practice, it's more so I just can't do it as someone who has addictively struggled with self harm and the past and struggled to quit (I had done it almost every day for 5 years, but have been clean for 7 with a couple of relapses) and I just feel like for me to try and incorporate blood into my witchcraft would be a slippery slope that would cause me to relapse again. You could follow a spell by adding ingredients and lighting a candle or whatever but if that’s all you do and don’t add in your energy and intention it’s not witchcraft and isn’t likely to do anything. It was interesting to hear your thoughts on blood magic. It made me realize something: I don't mind the blood itself. What really makes me nauseous and dizzy and feeling like I'm going to pass out is the puncturing of skin. The skin is a vital barrier, a shield, a container, that must not be destroyed. Even a prick is like... No! Stop! I use a menstrual cup, and I can observe the menstrual blood in the cup and it's like the most natural thing there is. Because it just sheds from somewhere inside of me without there being any kind of wound or injury involved. If someone could present me with a vial of blood to use in a magical working, then that wouldn't bother me. Yeah idky we charge crystals either. They don't want that stigma or a possible link to that stereotype of witches and being evil/devil worshippers etc. Plus, I also feel like it could correlate with the New Age being kind of steeped in Christianity..? I highly disagree about your witch definition, but that's ok. OMG yes SO many fights!!!!! I agree about blood being a great tool. I'm pretty open to people using the more gross material like urine but will I use some of the material in my practice? Maybe not. The only thing I could see about blood, is depending on its utilization I could see it being a trigger for people who struggle with self harm. Also it's somewhat debated on it being used in antiquity or not. Most people, myself included, think that it wouldn't be because of the risk of infection. But in terms of modern practice it's up to you.

      Yup definitely also covered that in my blood magick video. I’ve had my fair share of history with self harm but luckily as long as I only use a diabetes lancet it doesn’t get triggered ☺️
      In the sagas it’s actually very straight forward that blood was used ☺️

      @TheNorseWitch I'd believe it. Maybe I should read the sagas again, because I don't remember the story. It seems odd to me, though, because of the infection risk, I'd think they'd avoid that, but I'd love to be proven wrong.

      @user-pv6te2no2d one example would be Egil’s Saga:
      Egil took out his knife and stabbed the palm of his hand with it, then took the drinking-horn, carved runes on it and smeared them with blood. He spoke a verse:
      I carve runes on this horn,
      redden words with my blood,
      I choose words for the trees1
      of the wild beast’s ear-roots;2
      drink as we wish this mead
      brought by merry servants,
      let us find out how we fare
      from the ale that Bard blessed.
      Grettirs saga is another example:
      She looked at the tree and bade them turn it over before her eyes, and on one side it was as if singed and rubbed; so there whereas it was rubbed she let cut a little flat space; and then she took her knife and cut runes on the root, and made them red with her blood, and sang witch-words over them; then she went backwards and widdershins round about the tree, and cast over it many a strong spell; thereafter she let thrust the tree forth into the sea, and spake in such wise over it, that it should drive out to Drangey, and that Grettir should have all hurt therefrom that might be

      (Sorry, I'm asking so many questions, just genuinely curious)
      I've heard other creators say that they don't think blood is really much of a sacrifice, being that your body will just make more of it. Do you have any thoughts on that?

    I actually agree with all of the controversial opinions you mentioned in this video! 😅 I too have for a long time wondered, what is the point of charging crystals if they already have their own energy and spirit? Tell them what to do yes, but why are you charging something that already has energy? Cleansing them though I feel makes more sense than charging.
    As for the witch thing. I too only see witches being those who work with and communicate with spirits. Whether it is plants, spirit guides, deities etc. It does not make any sense when people call themselves witches but do not work with spirits...witchcraft has become too big of an umbrella term for sure.
    Also. I want to thank you for your reply from your previous video. I have been feeling very disconnected from the spirit realm for a while for various reasons, but I do think just coming back to silence and being in nature helps. Plus doing daily guided meditations to work on the psychic senses. I honestly love my spirit team. Does not matter if I see or hear them all the time, but the fact we have these beings on our side. Isn't it amazing?
    Have you ever made a video on working with your local spirits? Or a vlog showing a day where you go out in your neighbourhood forest or something to leave offerings? 🤔Cannot remember if you have, I will have to check that out haha, but I find that to be a fascinating topic. I get so upset whenever people cut down our trees around here, and I may not be perfect because I am not a vegan (although there are days I do not eat meat but only veggies). One person cannot do everything, but we can all do something. As for littering, yikes for people who do that. How can someone not care and be that inconsiderate?

    5:00 can you elaborate on the historical aspect of what you said?

    • @TheNorseWitch

      Of course! If we look at the witch trials, people who were accused of witchcraft usually (I can’t think of a trial where it wasn’t the case but I don’t want to speak in absolutes because I don’t know all of the trials in the world) worked with either a familiar spirit of some kind (spirit if the dead, animal spirit, faery, local spirit), with demons or with the devil. That’s what I was referring to. ☺️

      @@TheNorseWitch weren't those accused of witchcraft in the witch trials usually not witches? I was under the impression that most of those burnt were just unfortunate women

    • @TheNorseWitch
      @TheNorseWitch  10 місяців тому +1

      @_lilyofthevalley_ Of course. But that’s where we get the usage of the term from. Nobody called themselves a witch. But through the persecution of people some kind of definition formed. And nowadays a lot of our practice is at least in part reconstructed from trial records.

    I think that people are very easily offended nowadays, being hair-trigger defensive about every little thing and as a content creator you need to perfusely apologize for your own opinion😯😳 like people are just looking for opportunities to pick a fight. And anything can be labelled controversial suddenly. It's exhausting. But that's the shadowside of social media. Honestly, I admire you and other content creators for keeping their cool, sanity and peace of mind! So there you have my hot take😂😜
