I went to Milan once and had the best creamiest hot chocolate and I have been dreaming about it ever since. I made this recipe yesterday and it tasted exactly the same!! Thank you so much!!!!!!
I just made it and it really was AMAZING Just 1 thing to follow is that add just 1 tbsp sugar as your chocolate is already gonna be sweet, i added 2tbsp and it turned out to be very sweet yet tasty, So i added half tsp coffee to balance the sugar and again it was delicious and had a tint of coffee as well. And add just a lil less than 1 tbsp of cornstarch, because one tbsp or more than that make it really thick and more of pudding, unless you're really going for that.
I've made this recipe two times, I totally recommend it! Its a little more bitter then I thought it would be but it was absolutely perfect with toppings, excellent for a cozy day. Can't wait for covid to end so I can make it at gatherings. Stay safe everyone!
U don't have to use the bittersweet chocolate if u like it sweeter use milk chocolate..I use whatever chocolate bar I have in the house .Just made this w/ only the cocoa powder today .Had no chocolate bars in the house .It was still delicious not as rich but delicious.
I've tried other recipes but THIS italian hot chocolate is the BEST. The steps were so easy to follow. Your tip of turning the stove off while adding the dark chocolate was brilliant. I substituted regular milk with Almond Milk and added a ½ teaspoon of vanilla extract. It was perfect. 1 teaspoon of corn starch would still be ideal for Almond Milk.
I didn't know why I ever stopped making this. I have several beautiful antique chocolate sets. In Germany on cold winter evenings this would be a great. For the adults we added Godiva chocolate liquor. Tonight I just happened to have all the ingredients and it's been pouring rain all day. I think I'll make the butter cookies too.
If u r the type to prefer thickness in hot drinks, then Italian hot chocolate is a must because it has the thickness you require and as a type of person myself, I approve of it
I like the fact that this video gives all the information required for example i have seen many videos where they don't tell when to use the flame n when to switch it off but here it's very nicely told.. Lovely recipe 👌👌👏
I have made this recipe and yes, it will work with oat milk. I also made some whipped cream on the side (heavy cream, sugar and vanilla extract) and it was delicious! Although very sweet, I recommend only adding 1/2 tablespoon of sugar instead of the 1-2.
I just made this and OMG! I'm never buying again any hot cocoa mix (which they're basically 70% sugar). I used arrowroot instead of cornstarch and nut milk and instead of normal milk. Perfect for a winter afternoon at home 😍😍😍
Just tried this recipe was real impressed, came out great, used toll house semi sweet mini chips. I also added a dash of cayene since that pairs so well with chocolate came out great. A touch on the sweet side, since I didnt use a chocolate with a higher cocoa percentage. Thats the only change I think I would make, awesome winter, dessert or finisher for a meal.
I just tried this and i absolutely loved it! I was kinda anxious for putting only 1 cup of milk but suprisingly it was more than enough, also put only 1 tbsp because the chocolate makes it sweet enough
I just made this. WOW IT'S SO GOOD.. BETTER THAN THE ONE I HAD AT RESTAURANT. LOVED IT. OMG I JUST CANT STOP FINISHING IT. PLUS ITS RAINING HERE.. COMPLETELY AMAZING. Also I had topped it with milkmaid and chocolate syrup.. turns out fantastic..
Im Italian and i usually make it even more thick and to achieve that i stir it a little more and at higher temp to improve the thickening effect caused by the starch (normally i use potato starch but corn starch is ok too).. Other than that i use a LOT less dark chocholate. One whole tablet like that is 600 calories, i use maybe 1/4 of that, a little bit more of cocoa powder (make sure its good quality and dutch processed), the rest is pretty much the same, included the whipped cream. Some times i dip in some pan brioche... Yummmm
Instead of sugar, you can add a spoon of good honey; extra : pinch of cinamon, and for the adventurous ones: a little pinch of pink pepper, it's divine ✨🍫☕! Portugal style 🇵🇹
it's still too liquidy. the best chocolate place in my city has hot chocolate that has melted chocolate and just enough milk to make it possible to drink it, and for it not to go back solid. but I even prefer to eat it with a spoon. that is THE CHOCOLATE, not some milky cocoa thing

You will need to add less sugar with milk chocolate and it will make the liquid less thick as well. Milk chocolate has more sugar and contains milk solids so it's less dense than dark chocolate. When you use dark chocolate and then add sugar, it has more depth of flavor than when you use milk chocolate and add less sugar because milk chocolate has less of the actual cocoa bean. Which then means less chocolatey flavor.
I don't usually like dark chocolate but in cakes and stuff it's necessary because the flavour kind of dies down and milk chocolate isn't enough at times
Amazing recipe made it today..was craving to have hot chocolate since days...and it was awesome....smooth and silky texture....loved it..lots of love♥️✨
