    Hi Paul! Loved these videos, very helpful for me and my dad's trip in May. Keep it up!

    You were very lucky with the weather. My wife and I hiked the WHW in six days 10 years ago. It was May/June and rained every day. The day across Rannoch Moor was the worst. Couldn't see a thing because of the low cloud and driving rain. At least I can see what it looks like now that I have watched your video!

      Yes I was very lucky with the weather.

      We were just as unlucky this August when we walked the Pennine Way. It was a spur of the moment decision to do the walk, because we thought the conditions underfoot would be the driest they are ever likely to get after the long dry spell over the summer. Unfortunately, we were wrong. We had horrendous weather for the first 10 days or so, with very poor visibility, howling gales and heavy rain over the moors. It did improve towards the end, but the PW was probably the toughest trail walk we've done to date - and we have walked quite a few in this country and abroad.

    Well done mate, you did good. The less weight makes all the difference. It was a bit spooky watching you as you did exactly the same as I did and stayed at almost exactly the same spots as I did in April including Rannoch moor. I totally agree with your comments about breakfast in Tyndrum. I am planning to do it again next April, different weather, different people etc.

      Thanks. Yes the lighter the pack the easier it is. I passed a lot of other whw hikers and a lot of them had a pack bigger than mine with extra gear hanging off it. Good luck next year and I hope you get good hiking weather. I'm just starting to plan my next adventure.

    Thank's for the WHW series, loved the videos, very informative and some of the best we have viewed, we are flying up to Glasgow to do the WHW very soon and just wondered how you got on for camping gas? As we are flying we can't take it with us and we will be starting our walk the day we arrive so will be short of time to get some, is there anywhere near the airport that you know of where we can obtain some?

      @PaulWillcocks  7 років тому +1

      I had the same problem, I flew from Bristol to Glasgow then took a bus to Queens Street Station. Just down the road from the station about a 5 minute walk you will find an outdoor shop called "Tiso" on Buchanan street where you can buy the gas. Then back to Queen Street Station where the train goes to Milagavie.
      Hope this helps.

      I was planning to hike the Pennine Way this month but that will have to wait until next year now. I'm still hoping to do another hike soon, maybe Hadrian's Wall. Have you seen the other hike that I've done on my channel?

    Well done. Most people overestimate what they can do distance wise. By the looks of it you were pretty fit and could easily have shaved off a whole day. Mind you there is a WHW race where people run the whole thing non stop!

      Bruce Wallace thanks. Next time I do the West Highland Way I am planning to do it in less days but I certainly won't be running it.
