Hi Paul great to see you on another adventure. Be interested seeing this as I cycle camped this (and back to ft William) in 2012 in 4 days. Enjoy the trip mate & nice to see you're out again 👍
Hi Paul, lovely watch, very informative as always, thank you. Can you advise where you stayed in Fort William the night before you started please and if they had parking to leave the car? Thanks in advance.
Hi Jamie. I hiked the West Highland Way first and stayed in a hotel in Fort William for two nights before starting the Great Glen Way. The hotel was on the high street and was called Ossian's Hotel. I don't think it has parking.
I will be up there in a fortnight with the Mrs & kids in a camper van and we are going to have a good tour round to places we’ve never been to up there
@@DorsetPiper. I'm not sure am the moment and I don't want to announce a trail that may not happen so I'll keep it to myself for the moment........ but it will probably be in the south of England.......maybe.
I'm impressed how prepared and organised you were. Definitely "the key" is very helpful addition while walking the trail but it's a shame to see vandalised facilities. It's beyond my mental capabilities to understand why one would want to make an effort and destroy it for others. Although there are no great views, it's easy and enjoyable walk. Looking forward to see next episodes. Cheers, Seb

No it's not difficult to find at all, I point the office out at 3:00. It takes less than 10 minutes to leave the trail get the key and get back on the trail again.
Good to see you back Paul.looking forward to this one. I see in the comments you did WHW again are we to expect any video from that or did you give the camera a rest.
Hi Kev. I did film the WHW hike but I'm not sure if I'm going to post the entire hike as one post on UA-cam or post it as individual days like I normally do. What do you think I should do?
Thanks Paul! 👍 I’m here in FW right now ready to start the GGW tomorrow and your vid popped up. Perfect timing! Will try to rent a key and get to your camp spot or even to Laggan Locks. Are there pitches there? Cheers, Justin
Hi Justin. I'm not sure if there are any wild camping spots there but according to the map that I was given at the sea loch in Fort William there is commercial camping (maybe closed), bunk house (maybe closed) and toilets there. Hope this helps and good luck with your hike.
Watched this prior to my trip which i have just finished and although not my favourite trail i was blessed with great weather in September and thankfully midge free.Enjoyed the first 3 days walking to Drumnadrohit but found it boring and relentless to Inverness.
I drove to Bristol airport, flew to Glasgow, got a trail to Milngavie. Then hiked the West Highland Way. Took one day off then started the Great Glen Way.
Hi Paul, I was the guy messaging you on my other channel, I’ve just set a new one up here. Great first video of the GGW looks like you’ve also got a gopro hero 7/8? Your pitch by the Loch looked good. Dave
Paul Willcocks my other channel was originally setup to do with something unrelated to outdoors and all the subscribers are not into the outdoors so I wanted to start fresh and build subs who are into the outdoors!
Paul Willcocks I had to wade through a flood outside fort William and reach fort Augustus in a lot of pain as I got lots of blisters I have to come off the trail and return next year sadly. I did the ridgeway last September, hope you enjoyed it?
Paul Willcocks I’m from the Wendover area where it passes through that’s a nice part of it. Thanks, I’ll certainly get back to Fort Augustus to finish it but maybe next year now. I’ll be doing some wild camping in the Peak District soon, again if you fancy joining me on one in the months ahead then let me know.
Hello Paul, it's great to see you back out again. I'm looking forward to the second instalment.
Thanks it will probably be uploaded on Monday.
good to see you back on the road, as usual informative, and always a good video
Its good to get out again.
Good to see you out again mate. Looking forward to your journey. Always good seeing camping spots and tips about the trail from other people 👍👍👍
Thanks. UA-cam is a great place for inspiration and knowledge.
Paul Willcocks just been through your 2017 WHW videos as well. Wouldn’t mind walking both these paths one after the other also.
@@tbotheman Yes its a good way of doing it. I took one day off in Fort William then started the GGW

Was that vessel that was on the bank in service? Also I saw a lot of ducks 🦆 on the bank they seemed like nice ducks quite friendly.

welcome back....how did you get to the start of the walk
I drove to Bristol airport, flew to Glasgow, got a trail to Milngavie. Then hiked the West Highland Way. Took one day off then started the Great Glen Way.
Nice one. Have you tried Y shaped pegs?
no i haven't but the rocks did the job fine.
I just read you were on the WHW last week. And you did the GGW in July? 🤔
I finished the WHW on the 28th July and started the GGW on the 30th.
Ha! Exactly the same idea that I had - not very original then 🙄😁 Will start the same in September.
As always, thanks for sharing!

nice one Paul good first day. atb daz
thanks. more to come.
Great stuff , pity to see someone busting the toilet locks obviously didnt want to pay the £10 ....
yes that would explain breaking one toilet door lock but not both.
Why pay the £10 if most of them are closed or not working ? + the hassle of the long detour to return the key .
