    Patients of ours often make the mistake of eliminating food with essential nutrients just to lose weight as quickly as possible. This was a good explanation of why that is never the best strategy. This is especially true for long-term, sustainable weight loss.

      Exactly, I have ankylosing spondilitis (AS) and I finally had to make a lifetime decision to change my diet to anti inflammatory. I walked with a limp due to back and hip pain. Starting with eliminating sugar, no substitutes...low carb...lots of water. It has been 5 months, and I no longer have hip pain, back pain decreased but not completely, but tremendous difference. Eating clean for life is my only option. I firmly recommend diet filled with essential nutrients for everyone. Even moreso for people dealing with autoimmune diseases, obesity, diabetes to name a few...wish I had known years ago what I know now. I'm in a support group, and so many people take biologics...if one doesn't work then they switch to another. There are ppl younger than me that partly rely on wheelchairs. Nobody discusses diet with me...it's all about medications.

    Dr Berg (although I doubt you'll see this) I've not watched the video yet, however, I've never been able to control myself. I could never stick to a healthy way of eating. There are a few reasons but most people won't understand so I won't detail them but the good news is, I tried, for a completely other reason, Maku brand full spectrum hemp oil, 1000 mg bottle. I noticed sometime around 2/3 of the bottle that my hunger and out of control feeling, was reducing. It was as if it made me less insulin resistant but other benefits as well. By the time I started the second bottle, I decided to go on a strict diet, stricter than LCHF, and I've been able to stick to it for 11 days. That's 11 days longer than usual. I feel that "food isn't important to me anymore" feeling but not completely but still a very powerful and helpful amount. I do not think about the cookies my roomie made, for example. That wasn't possible ever before.
    Maku brand is expensive however, if one subscribes, buys the first bottle at a very low introductory price, then once they receive the bottle, cancel their membership, it's only $20 spent to test how this product works on that person. Then if they benefit from it, they can reactivate their membership. I hear it's also good for anxiety and pain caused by inflammation, such as arthritis and trauma. I don't have any personal experience to report on that.
    3 other add ons you might want to try to help with hunger and cravings is chromium picolinate, choline, and saffron extract. I know Dr. Berg has mentioned chromium in one or more of his videos.

    After almost 9 months of doing keto and IF, and losing all the weight I needed to, I started craving for sweets (desserts are carbs). Since Dr Berg published his video about keto desserts, few days ago, I have tried 2 desserts. My craving for sweets (carbs) stopped! Also, people asking about breast milk. Unless you are a female and currently breast feeding (I have drank my own), I think closest option is bovine colostrum (grass fed like Dr Berg always remind us), that is available in powder or tinture forms. In fact Dr Berg did a video on allergy and one of his recommendations is colostrum.

    Magnesium potassium is not needed as much when eating only meats, eggs, dairy. since it is needed to counter veggies fruits etc.
    K1 is also in Liver and Magnesium is also in fatty fish.

    Could you also speak about how to eat? I've been living in the US for many years from Europe and in my culture we chew our food much more than Americans do, my point is that because we chew we "kick" our saliva to start its pre digestive work for our stomach.
    By chewing more you get satisfied faster and for longer because your stomach doesn't have to try to do all the work, and work that it's not suppose and can't do.
    This is a huge missing piece IMO, if you start to chew more, you actually eat less but you eat well and you are/feel full, satisfied early and for a longer time.
    TY!

      Lia Leo YES! And you really should try Dr. berg’s Healthiest Bread in the World recipe. It is absolutely the best Keto bread! (Thank you Karen!) check his website for the recipe. I make a double batch every week and split it up for some additional ingredients. Usually 1/2 (which is a full batch) will include jalapeño and kalamata olives, while the other half has added chopped nuts with a little powdered erythritol and cinnamon. I add those things before I knead and rise the dough so they get incorporated throughout. Otherwise just follow Karen’s instructions. Super good toasted... with butter. Yum!

    Great video, Dr Berg. One thing for all these new videos with the smart board: The audio sounds very tinny. Your audio was on point when writing on the glass on your older videos. Not sure what changed, but just wanted to make a note of it. Thanks again!

    I would like to see you make a video about how to best take in high amounts of carbs for people who need to such as athletes. I’m 17 years old and am a distance runner running 30-40 miles a week with a 5K race on Saturdays so I need to eat at least 50% carbs. I try to make sure most of them are good carbs such as veggies, whole wheat/grain, steel cut, etc. but I would love a more in depth video on if you are someone who eats a lot of carbs, how can you best utilize them and still maintain good health?

    • @lillypod1337
      @lillypod1337 5 років тому

      Instead of wheat/grains switch to potatoes. Better source of fuel and doesn't cause inflammation. Wheat is the worst choice of carbs for an athlete. Boil carrots and potatoes and make a puree, add sea salt and real butter. On off-days switch to cabbage, because you won't be burning off glucose and might end up with love-handles.

    • @lillypod1337
      @lillypod1337 5 років тому +2

      Back before refridgeration it was necessary to ferment cabbage to have the nutrients to ward off illness during the winter months. Nowadays, nobody eats Sauerkraut. I'm german and grew up there and literally no-one other than my Dad eats that stuff. People want french fries.... And since we can get fresh lemons in February, there is no need to ferment cabbage :-)

Your thoughts on this recipe I received for heavy metals from autism and general detox made of 1tbsp dulse, barley grass juice powder, (I know this is not part of keto, but on 2 bananas as well as 2 cups blue berries) 2cups kale and 1tsp of spirulina? Love your input Dr. B I'm so confused.
