Yes, I know Tunisia very well. It's the largest city outside the capital, with a long history as a coastal hub, making its people naturally welcoming to foreigners. Don't pay attention to negative comments about the city from envious people; it's common in this poor country.
Fun fact: Sfax is the city where the most millionaires and business owners in Tunisia come from. It's been at the top of the Tunisian high school national exam for the past 55 years. It's also the birthplace of most doctors and engineers in Tunisia. The combination of hard work, education, and wealth has made Sfax one of the most disliked cities in Tunisia. People who have never visited it think that the residents are greedy, cheap, and obsessed with money, attributing their wealth to these traits. However, in reality, they are hardworking and well-educated people. Some of the nicest people I've met during my university years were from Sfax, and they helped me pass some of my exams. Thank you, Sfax!
Pollution, the way people drives and having taxis with bottles of gaz in the trunk. That’s dangerous and this is why as a guide tourist i have never recommended this city.
I agree. Sfaxians are hardworking and always on time (In five-star hotel Syphax the telephne used to be placed six meters far from your pillow to make sure that you won`t miss the usually very early appointment with a Sfaxian). Ah, and they have a lovely musical accent full of diphthongs.

Great video, and welcome to Sfax. 28:22 you are correct, funny story, the crabs there were given the Daiech (ISIS) nickname by the locals, because they are an invasive species that originate from the Pacific ocean, they came out of no where in 2015-2016 and went everywhere around the Sfax coast, destroying fish traps, tearing fishing nets and basically causing havoc on the local fishermen, that's why they are given that name.

Some people put "rose water" in their coffee, but that bottle was definitely "blossom plant water", it was written in Arabic ""Maa zhar", "maa" means water as you already know, and "zhar" means blossom plan flowers. These flowers used to be distilled by grandmothers ( i.e. tunisian babouchkas 😮), but this tradition is lost, I think. Maa zhar is also used as perfume in weddings, as medicine for people suffering from high fever and a kind of sunscreen/hat. mothers used to put some Maa zhar on their children' heads before they went out in hot summer day. I advise you to visit the island of Djerba, you will like it very much. And do not forget to go to the Tunisian desert. You will enjoy Tunisian food and the beautiful scenery. Do not delay in uploading the videos. Please. Enjoy your time.
As a Tunisian, I can tell you tunisians don't give the best travel advice in Tunisia because they don't necessarily have the same criteria. For example, we generally choose beaches, venues, hotels over historical monuments, food, nature, friendliness and cultural interest. That's why most Tunisian flock to Hammamet and not Sfax or el Kef.
in Tunisia you'll always meet good, lovely and welcoming people, beautiful little country 🥰 you should visit "Sousse" the touristic city of Tunisia have a good journey 🥰

You made a good point about olive oil. 25 dinars for a liter in the city which is considered to be the home of olive oil, is very expensive. That's about 13 CAD. That's the price one pays in Canada for one liter of olive oil produced in Spain, Italy or Greece. Olive oil produdced in Tunisia costs about 9 CAD a liter here. About 18 TD. Olive oil produced in Algeria and Tunisia has an aftertaste compared to oil produced in Europe, as you might have noticed. I used to hate that aftertaste some years ago, but I love it now and prefer oil produced in Northern Africa to oil produced in Southern Europe, but that's just me. I tend to be picky when shopping for coffee, red wine, bread, and olive oil. That fish market looked nice. It looked like a bank, not a fish market!
If you go to Kerkennah (island) , you will try the best seafood dishes in all of Tunisia and the cheapest ones, and even in the world. I am not kidding, my uncles have visited almost the entire world and tried a lot of food, but they come back and when they taste Kerkennah’s food, they say it is the best.
I advise you, my friend, to come to me in the city of Kef, as it is a very beautiful city, the people there are good people, and the prices are low. When you come, you will remember my words.❤️❤️
I hope you enjoyed sfax, idk if you're still staying in tunsia for much longer, but if you do i recommend you visit a city called "mahdia" it's a small city on the coast and pretty lovely especially at night, if you do consider visiting and need any help just give me the ok and I'll be in your service ❤
At first I thought there's no way I'm watching an 80min long vlog even if it was my brother's, anyways without keeping track of time I found myself watching you guys drinking milk and having some nice pastries. Glad you liked my hometown Sfax 🤍
28:38 Back in the 2010s that particular species of Asian crab suddentlg appeared in Tunisia as an invasive species and decimated fish reserves off the coast. The war in Syria was at a crescendo at the time hence leading fisherman to name the black crab: "The Daesh Crab" as kindofa joke. The reason you see it so cheap is the same reason it was such a ruthless invasive species: Tunisians aren't accustomed to eating it... Since then however a big industry developed around its exportation to Asia and it has stopped being problematic.
i think since u guys r still in tunisia u should go to mahdia it's like 1 hour away from sfax , mahdia has one of the best beaches in Tunisia and it's tourist friendly you should try it since it's summer and it's thier working seasons
We use Rose water in cream caramel and other sweats like Baklava especially during Ramadan in Saudi Arabia I think it's popular also in other 😊Arab countries
They call those crabs "Daesh" because the blue crab is an invasive species in tunisia and has been rapidly growing over the recent years and thus destroying the ecosystem.
Is Sfax Tunisia's friendliest city? 🇹🇳 We reckon so.

We absolutely loved Sfax! Not there now sorry! Next time ❤️🇹🇳
The fish markers have a good mood 😂❤
They were the best
At first I thought there's no way I'm watching an 80min long vlog even if it was my brother's, anyways without keeping track of time I found myself watching you guys drinking milk and having some nice pastries.
Glad you liked my hometown Sfax 🤍
Really appreciate that, means a lot to us thanks so much 🙏❤️
Just for your information, the water that you have in the café is the orange fleur's water, on the coffee in the Arabic café.
I see!!
Funny fact of Sfax! it always number 1 of highschool studen who pass the final exame "Bac"
it is city of smart people
People were super here
28:38 Back in the 2010s that particular species of Asian crab suddentlg appeared in Tunisia as an invasive species and decimated fish reserves off the coast.
Ahhhhh thanks so much for the info I appreciate it!!
was about to type this !
Happy birthday 🎉

there are no secrets, you have to move away from tourist areas to really appreciate the original local atmosphere
That's exactly it. Love it here
We use Rose water in cream caramel and other sweats like Baklava especially during Ramadan in Saudi Arabia I think it's popular also in other 😊Arab countries

It is ain't it!!
27:30 that caught me so off guard bro 😭😭😭

They call those crabs "Daesh" because the blue crab is an invasive species in tunisia and has been rapidly growing over the recent years and thus destroying the ecosystem.
Ahaha classic
My best❤
