I think one of the MOST important things to work with while terraforming and landscaping is to make sure that you use LOTS of height variation, even just a few blocks can make a MASSIVE difference!
YES, because minecrafts INTENSLY varied and RUGGED terrain wasnt enough, NO NO, continue putting MOUNDS on ALL the already differed and varied TERRAIN, just make sure you keep ADDING instead of y'know doing what grian did and REFINING the terrain. Obviously grian IS wrong **sarcasm**
This "where to stop" dilemma is why I LOVE islands, you know exactly where to stop, 10 blocks deep into the water is beyond more than enough and there is a "water feature" built in, you can always add ships or rafts.

it’s so pleasing to see him build,, it’s not messy but not like freakishly neat and there’s just a perfect mixture of everything (colors, textures, etc.) these are by far my favorite mc videos i’ve seen and they’re extremely helpful as well
How about a video about building with the current terrain? Instead of building the terrain itself. I.E. Mountains, plains, bumpy, ect... Edit: When I say this I mean a video based on it to show us more thoroughly and more specified. I think it could help a lot of people understand the depth of forming into the land and get a hold of it better, after all, Grian's one of the best builders that are more-so-than-not popular among the building community of Minecraft. And wow this comment has a lot of upvotes. Thanks, I'm surprised that a lot of you agree.
I love building with terrain. I often end up needing *some* landscaping but it's so rewarding when you explore for hours and then find the PERFECT spot.
I think he does a time lapse because it does take him hours. He rather we see it this way rather then him having to edit it and we miss bits and pieces (otherwise the video might be too long).
Even doing this stuff in creative with WorldEdit takes HOURS. If he were to do it in survival and not time lapse it, it would be multiple episodes of grinding for materials and such. You're asking him to show the stuff he cuts out of the EMP because nobody wants to see it, but as a tutorial video. I see why you want it, but it just won't work that way.
I really like the video. There is just one sligh issue that bothers me with your tree selection. You made 1 oak tree and a lot of pine trees. And the natural terrain in that area had a birch forrest nearby. I don't think that this combination would work that well. IMO it would have been better to mix different tree types and to gradially mix in some custom birch trees to make the transition being more smooth. That would make the area look even more natural.
So this is like my 3rd time watching this tutorial, since I’ve been implementing a lot of these techniques into my recent builds, but I still find myself becoming super distracted by that lovely house 😍 haha! Great video as always 🙌
Omg you uploaded! I really look up to you and I hope you never stop because you have TALENT that is really special! I really look up to you, and I hope you know that! First, bonemeal makes things looks very overgrown and unnatural. You can tell if an area is bonemealed or natural. The thing with bonemeal is that it adds WAY too much grass and flowers. It’s way better to just get grass and flowers and place them where you think it would look good.
Not only does grian KNOW how to build like a god, the thing that keeps him out of the god builders category if i may say so, is the thing that he can EXPLAIN the way HE builds. This is skill that not many minecraft builders have!
excellent video. we all knew the landscape makes a good house even better, but this is crazy good! Hope build school continues as a helpful series like this!
Just a tip: In minecraft world generation, there are at least 3 blocks of dirt before transitioning into stone/granite, etc. this might help the cliff look a bit more naturally generated, even though i understand that may not have been the aim of this build.
i started terrain a while back and i even made a giant mountain and i still do terrain and details are the main key to most of my builds! This helped with some techniques so thank you!
