    WOW! I'm new to this lawn care and it's just for myself, my yard only. LOL I moved to a small town and we have guys that mow and a few that will spray things but I don't know if they really know what they are doing. I'm old now and as a hobby want to take care of my own lawn. I got Pets GCI course and will follow it but trying to learn the way behind things and it's way over my head right now. Your videos are really good but so much at this point is like what? LOL I'll get it in time but to think I was just going to toss some seed in my yard and fert thinking i would be good then I started watching and reading. Now I'm hooked HA!

    I think I’ll be using triclopyr and 24d amine based on cost and effectiveness on target weeds in my personal lawn. Thanks for the video Matt

    I absolutely smoked 10k worth of dense wild violet and crabgrass in fescue last August. I used Spectracide weed stop spiked with triclopyr, with MSO to help it work. 48 hours after application the violet was curled and burnt. Crab was brown at 5 days. -homeowner with an acre or so.

    Great video, and very informative. I was very impressed by the chart you showed with increased herbicide uptake with the addition of surfactant + fertilizer. So my question is how much of an ammonium sulfate fertilizer would you add per gallon of herbicide tank mix along with surfactant to increase uptake? I want to give this a try as I have also heard that using fertilizer with your herbicides can help minimize chlorosis caused by the herbicide. Thanks in advance!

    • @TheGrassFactor
      @TheGrassFactor  5 років тому +1

      Generally it's by volume and like a surfactant, .5-2% depending on AI

    • @symbiont0156
      @symbiont0156 5 років тому

      Thanks Matt! So is that w/v? Like say 0.64 oz - 2.56 oz of granular ammonium sulfate fertilizer per gallon? I am new to this, and I have never tried getting ammonium sulfate fertilizer dissolved into water, so does it go in easily or will I have to pre-make a concentrate that I can then use to adjust my final concentration? How do most people do this? Also, will it lower the pH significantly enough to affect some herbicides and affect their performance? Thanks again for answering these questions, and sorry to ask so many.

    this content is EXACTLY the type of content im looking for...TY so much! Hi tech whiteboard videos. Question about Surfactants that are oil based. Quinclorac says to use with Meth Seed Oil surfactant. I have "herb-x" surfactant which is an oil based surfactant.....BUT its not a Meth Seed Oil. Its a Sulfated Fish Oil. They do say on the label it can be used for products that call for "Oil based" surfactants. SO I guess that confuses me a bit. If quin calls for MSO surfactant in accordance with the label, I guess that's what I need to go buy to stay within the "label law" correct? in other words I cant substitute the Herb-x in place of MSO surfactant according to the label on quinclorac right?

    • @TheGrassFactor
      @TheGrassFactor  5 років тому +1

      You can def substitute w your surfactant. Seed oil is recommended but not law. Fish oil may perform better!

    Matt, been watching this one and am looking to get an answer that is in the video, but I am unable to extract it. If I start early in the year, a 2 4 d ester is best in cooler temps, then I switch to an Amine or warmer temps. You said switching to a MCPA product will get me a third application because we switched out the 2-4d for the MCPA. For Bermuda and St Aug yards, which MCPA product would you suggest? I'm guessing they are all Ester Based formulas correct? Any help appreciated. I ran into a few situations where I needed another app of 2-4 d but couldn't do it. Thanks!

    • @TheGrassFactor
      @TheGrassFactor  4 роки тому +1

      There are ester and amine formulations. For fall, either is fine. Not sure there is a "best" - there is a pre blended one called TriPower from Nufarm

    Why are you not a fan of tzone and surge ?. I have been using tzone on cooler days say 50-70 degrees with really great success and switching to surge after 70 + degrees. I’m not a total fan of surge yet just like it’s water base and doesn’t foam.

      Because I can mix it myself for 40% of the cost. I like saving 40% and having flexibility of increasing/decreasing the AIs I need to do the work.

      It’s better to work backwards. Identify your targets, figure out The are you’re spraying them at, make your list of controls and pick The compatible control with your turf.
