I love the way she listens to his answers without interrupting at all
This charming girl.
That's what they're supposed to do
Yeah I noticed that, but I also thought that she fancies him, but hey if I was a girl I probably would as well lol
@Langelier Fabrice
That's got me puzzled! I wonder what you mean by that?
@Langelier Fabrice
Ah wow, it's so strange the way people from different countries view things. I'm English, and it may look as though I'm chasing the dragon and in real life some of that is true, especially the demons. However in cyberspace it feels like the dragon's chasing me. This is my 4th thumbnail and 3rd name change. I had one with a flag of St George and the name Mystic Knight and a girl said it looked as if I was a Freemason, so that came down quick. The next one was my names Michael Paul and the same flag until a mad Irishman started up with his abuse about the English flag and what the English had done blah blah blah . We got into a long battle and it ended when UA-cam suspended me. It was probably because I went on his channel and replied to every video with an extended post of my choicest abuses cut and pasted from my AppleMac Notes pages. So I changed the flag to a Union Jack and then an ICTHUS and now it's this shield with the English flag cross. I try to get what's the most appropriate for me without giving the surveillance agencies any photos. You sound like you're a student or something in a shared house when you use the term us. It's like I can see a crowd of you looking at it and laughing. I shouldn't even be on this page, I'm too old. I'm an ex beat, ex mod, ex hippie type, ex ex ex it's all I think about. But a new romantic, NO!!! absolutely not. How can I be, I saw The Beatles. Well I'm keeping the shield it's only the crusader thing but I like it yes I do.
I listen to the smiths every single day!
which song?
Me too. I have all albums on phone and just hit shuffle. I love them more than words could say.

A Raad How's your digestive issues?
And I thought I was the only one!
Top Musician , top artist , top bloke. I'll be reading his book.
Where's his bike
Great audio book
Punctured?
One of my fav guitarist. And seems like such a genuine guy. Finally got to see him. He was with Modest Mouse, about 13 years ago.
He genuinely is one of the wisest and most articulate people I've ever listened to. I love Morrissey but Morrissey's ironic wit isn't a patch on Marr's even greater willingness to be modest and reasonable.
I agree & he’s refreshingly humble. Morrissey & Marr were a brilliant pair but it’s very hard dealing with a person with Asperger’s (ASD lv1) which Moz clearly has.
@@maclardy No you think he clearly has. That doesn't mean he does. In fact its known that he doesn't. I think the issue was more M's neediness and romantic wants
Johnny marr is a fantastic human being.
I agree. Morrissey has proven himself to be a pompous a$$ since The Smiths broke up. Probably before, but I loved the band. In my maturing, I have come to really like Marr. In fact, I think Marr preformed How Soon Is Now better without Morrissey.
It’s a shame that Morrissey is vile and odious.
@@thephoenix3155
He just isn’t.
@@pippipster6767 - That's obviously not a Smiths fan. If it were they wouldn't say that. Yarbles to thephoenix3155
I really enjoyed reading the autobiography. He is such a nice guy.
2016 will be remembered as the the year Johnny Marr released his autobiography. Always advancing sonically. The best guitarist from the greatest city on Earth.
he spends most of his time in Portland Oregon - not sure what that tells us about his opinion of Manchester (the greatest city on earth apparently)
revol148 He moved back to Manchester 3 years ago and went on record as saying 'he came back because it's his home'. What does that tell you?
his twitter feed includes Portland and Manchester - mixed loyalties clearly....
revol148 Not really, he lives in Manchester..
the Gallagher brothers live in London, Billy Duffy & Morrissey live in Los Angeles, Hooky lives in Macclesfield, John Squires lives in Derbyshire and Ian Brown lives in Cheshire. There must be something about that city which drives Manchester based people away!
He made and ended a very influential band before he was 24, how amazing is that. Marr and Morrissey, thank you very much!
Many interviews are very awkward or even offensive but this one is just really great.
Wow, what an intelligent man and it sure does come through in his art and all the groups he's been with as well as his solo efforts! Rock on Johnny (and Angie!)...
He's a perfect interview subject, frank, honest, famous, talented, and talkative
Good comment. 100% true
do you hear the different between Johnny and Morrissey ?? johnny is more open and honest and Morrissey is more Bitter about his answers.. johnny marr your a class act!! love you and Thank you....
Morrissey is witty, cynical and authentic. Marr is deep, kind and authentic. They are both authentic, though different personalities. Sorta like the difference between Lennon and Harrison. (Paul is fake.)
*you're
They are two different people. That is the difference. You can’t compare them in that way. I love them both
Not think that comes from Johnny left the band and clearly Morrissey wanted the band to continue
I like both of them seriously. I admit that I do not listen to smiths. I am more into Lana Del Ray at the moment, which has wit, and she has moved into a more artistic direction.
Though I have listened to every song Morrisey and Smiths have done.
I also went out of my way to find a Marr guitar tone yesterday. So I played I know it it over. Also want to play this charming man, though I just worked out the guitar tabs today. When you study his guitar playing it is very interesting and realise he is like David Gilmour.
Johnny Marr - what a great person and inspiration! Also props to Karine Giannone for the way she conducting this great interview.
Karin Giannone, brilliant work! Marr, Smiths, Morrissey, been a fan since the early 80's but you my dear... Brilliant interviewer!
He talks so sensibly about his time in The Smiths and has matured so much in the way he articulates his views since The South Bank Show on The Smiths. Top guy !
Sadly I missed The Smiths back in the day live because I was ill for a number of years so I always wanted them to reform.
But now I think it would be a bad idea. Great bands and great music are encapsulated in the times they're formed, write music and play.Once those times have passed, everything that made them special has gone and as such can't be recreated, and it just ends up being a money making exercise.
What a top bloke. Much respect for one of the greatest guitar players of all time.
The smiths reunion would be one of rock n rolls greatest moments
over half way through and really enjoying it. love all the stories of how these wonderful songs were created.
Johnny, you are great. Angie, who is such an amazing trooper, has bought you out so well and the journalist put you in such a beautiful light
I would like a red button that would take me back to 1983
What an amazing interview! Well done to the interviewer (if that’s even a word) on letting Johnny answer freely. What a guy. Spot on!
Fantastic interview! Johnny Marr is not only a great musician but a great guy too!
One of my heroes
Johnny Marr, its so fuckin great guitar player, love his work, and he seems to be a cool guy ,well done Johnny.
The sincerity here is much appreciated.
Thoroughly enjoyable interview....one of the very best!!
I listened to the Smiths growing up and I recently discovered my son who is young adult has also discovered the Smiths on his own .
Thanks John, brilliant interview.
Johnny. It’s Johnny
I have just been introduced to Johnny Marr. I like him. What focus and work ethic concerning music.
As for me,I'm distracted with survival here in the east bay area and with the constant tidal wave of bullshit that inundates me constantly.
Besides being a amazing guitarist I love his hair .
Fantastic guitar player and good guy I think.
Just seen him at Providence RI. Top musician, top bloke. I liked the Smiths, i love Johhny Effin Marr
His Brain has always been tuned in to his professional way of life, i started at 10 my Father wonderful man taught me a few cords he n his mother would play n sing Spanish music after lunch everyday i got to join in when he took me for my first guitar in juaze Mexico. I now am the proud owner of his 1953 Martin 😁
Loved it a very soft spoken charming man ! :)
The Epitome of Coolness..
No shit!
Yeah he is a mellow guy. But that title belongs to Steve McQueen.
I love the fact Johnny stays outsider in the music industry. Great man! Great book!
Abs excellent interview..patience, depth and good interest.
This is how interview should be great people great interview. 🙏👍👋
Great interview
I love his approach to playing the guitar. Often his parts are quite simple but they just sound great. He really understands how to serve the song. He's had that right from being a young man. A true artist. He also gives great interviews. Always interesting. I share a birthday with this legend. 😁
Love The Smiths and I love Electronic one of my favourite bands...
Yup, Johnny and moz are very different kind of people , still surprises me once they were together, but I very glad they did.
Excellent interviewer, by listening intelligently gets subject to open up.
Johnny marr...legend!
Pure class.
It's not just the media's focus on his life it's the music fans focus on him en masse. I doubt many people care to hear much more other than his dissertations on Smiths and Morrissey that experience the effects on British music etc. Sad but true he was eclipsed by Smiths/ Moz and it always will be that way.
I love this dude❤️✌🏻
God Bless Johnny.
Esse cara toca muito ele era o principal músico fazia uns solos de guitarra de inprecionar deixava as músicas do The Smiths mais melódicas boa de se ouvir) sou fã seu ) abraço amigo
That bit at the end on his political views - I couldn't agree more. Fab interview too. An interviewer that lets their subject speak and doesn't try to cram the thing into a 4 minute edit. We'll done the BBC.
One of my all time heroes
That makes us feel so much closer to him... it feels like he’s just talking to us in our living room and I’m making some tea for them :)
A very cool thoughtful dude. Hope he comes back to Burlington VT. Missed him last time.
brilliant!
i love this man
Read it, loved it.
Johnny Marr: Legend
People often think about the Smiths when they hear someone talk about Johnny Marr, but I am starting to think Johnny Marr when I hear someone talk about the Smiths.
I’ve known The Smiths music for over 4 years and the more time that goes by, the more I see of Johnny and the way he goes about music and life. The more I realize that what I loved about The Smiths wasn’t Morrissey but Johnny’s beautiful, hypnotizing, enchanting unique guitar work. Morrisey without Johnny is a great voice, Johnny and his guitar with or without Morrisey was always going to be a superstar.
Great guy.
Genius guitar player.
Class act...
lol!!! good stuff!! everything was just captivating
Love u Johnny
What a gentleman!
Legend👍🏻
he's ace
The woman doing this interview seems totally captivated. I bet she’s a fan 👍😃
Legend
mars still the keaper of riffs!! hagaga so cool he played at the end, not many would do it.
Moz was crazy to ditch this guy and deep down he knows that. Such a sound guy
Marr left the band.
Johnny Marr is king!
Where does he get his Tony Montana wigs from?
Great interview but for God's sake couldn't you had donne it somewhere other than a bloody restaurant?!
Mark Wolfe dude are u serious?? /u don't get that they did that on purpose??? /look at the background.. There's no one else there. Its done absolutely by design.. The camera cuts between them and the voices and background sound is seemless that's Post production sound brotha... Catch the clues....
i like it, it's like being talking to him personally, it doesn't look contrived
Marr is a legend.
Class.
He is very genuine I feel
I can't remember a huge amount of praise for anyone in particular but I recall Morrissey had only very nice things to say about Angie in his book.
That's true, one of the few
Morrissey rarely speaks about anyone in glowing terms but in his autobiography he is very complimentary about Angie.
Never forget that Johnny was on an episode of Portlandia. ;)
very good, Johnny Marr!!! and she was good too!! :)
Great interview. Very articulate. And I totally agree with his assessment of Trump.
Did I really just hear Johnny Marr say that some of his fans don't like The Smiths?
I dont like. Boring pretenious bunch. But Marr's solo albums are super ones.
🤣🤣🤣🤣
❤1:48 & Johnners😂, you🎉 said it best😢 and your AMAZING😮GLORY😅 will go on😊 & onnn🤪 & ooooooon😊. I Love you My AWESOME FRIEND!!!
i know Marr for The The and MM but its crazy not to kno him for Smiths . For sure where i kno him 1st .
So how was his book? I haven't gotten around to read it yet. Is it worth a good read?
❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤
She is very good. As is he. He always is.
One day I hope to find someone who looks at me the same way as this interviewer looks at Johnny Marr 🤩
I would hope.
I’ve read that book
Why is the right channel on the sound for this so low/bad??
Cool
"someone else whos smart can write it" aaaaa I'm dead
I wasn't aware he was only 23 when the band broke up. God, how do you become that good at 23?
He started early with the guitar, just like the beatles. When he was 11 he was practicing F chord, which is a barre chord! I think when I was pre 12 I would hang around a small hole in the pavement, and play marbles.
JM is so strange - no matter how positive the message of what he speaks about is, he always sounds a little regretful. He's the classic wet blanket - he could be talking about the birth of his first child or something similar to that, but his tone is always: "what can you do?" Being an absolutely brilliant guitarist and musician, Johnny rises a little in mood when he's talking about or to his big influences or idols , or when he's talking about guitars, but, as can be seen and heard in so many other UA-cam videos, even in those situations, he says these phrases which sound as if he's saying "Well, they gave me the choice of losing my left testicle or my left foot, so I made what I thought was the only reasonable decision." Is it the Manchester or Northwestern England vibe, or does it go further?
What are u on about? It’s how we talk up here
I had no idea they were so old already.
Ксения Ковалевская ~ As Am I...They were the shit in the 80's!
They're not THAT old, around their 50s now - most people are around that age
Being that Marr was 17 or 18 when The Smiths started out, it's a bit of a stretch to say they were old
Ur. Beautiful
Strange days here we come. He's starting to look like Mike Joyce!
I LOVE YOU MORE THAN YOU LOVE ME...
So l guess there's No. Streets upon Streets, upon Streets, upon Streets intro!.. regarding Marrs Book then. ok. Ps Just watched 'Shop Lifters Of The World Movie'. As a Traditional Smiths Fan, Friggin~Loved it. Just saying. 👌
Who forgot to turn Johnny's amp on at the end ?? Well - they're fuckin fired for a kick off !! Lol. Good interview with a true guitar god. Peace.
