Marrtyrs! A true inspirational legend for me, I’ve been playing guitar about 37yrs and the beautiful thing for me is every time you pick up a guitar you can improve and get better, write a new song each day that will have a different feel & emotions from other days so, and be creative in so many different ways and directions. No matter how good a player you are you can always get better, learn new things and improve technique and bad habits.

Brilliant interview! Love listening to Johnny and his enthusiasm for all things guitar. Imagine the buzz you would get if you were the Keith Stringer, or the Jimmy... that Johnny still remembers to this day, because you happened to have a guitar back in the day? Just brilliant.

The look on johnnys face @9:15 as chris talks of acquiring a guitar is absolutley priceless.
    Im in awe.
Ive never been what you'd call a huge fan of say the smiths, but as i am someone who is deeply inspired by all of the psychadelic bands from the 1960's & 1970's i totally get johnny marr.
Ive always lusted after a rickenbacker 330 or a 360 12 string in any colour scheme.
I got heavily into the who & the jam when i was a teenager during the late 90's which pushed me onto the small faces.
This was all because of my love of guitar based music and collecting secondhand vinyl lp records with all the artwork.
So johnny marr has turned 60, he looks fantastic, and although i never properly tuned into the smiths music, the more i listen to johnny and morrissey interviews, i take pure note on what great honest lovely people these guys really are.
I hope johnny had a specially made rickenbacker vegan birthday cake for his 60th.

Johnny I know what you mean, I have tried guitars as a player and it isn't there. I have come to see it like the wand theory in Harry Potter, the guitar chooses the player. because the two need a connection and for it to work the guitar chooses.

Regarding The Smiths... love The Smiths and even some of Morrissey's solo music. Don't like Morrissey as a person, love Johnny as a person. I've always been told you can have the energy to light up a room, or stink up a room. Johnny lights up a room.

@@risteardohaodha23 Because you want to Running into a burning building to save somebody when you really don't want to? That is a sacrifice.
The word 'sacrifice' in sport, music, the arts etc is incorrectly used. Nobody is forcing you. By the way, I think Johnny Marr is brilliant. Peace and love to you.
