Should I buy used Boardman 8.9 for a 1000usd? It has thru axles SRAM NX Eagle 1x12 RockShox Gold 35 fork Deluxe Select+ Satori Sorata Pro dropper 29 Maxxis tires SRAM Guide T brakes.
Why does that blue marin look like something you could purchase from Asda for £79.99 ? Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against people spending a small fortune on pushbikes, I myself have a Boardman ht pro 2011, which cost me a fortune when new , but it looks and feels premium and the parts fitted from new where high quality and it still looks new and performs great today. It seems to me manufacturers aren't even trying to make a bike look premium today. Although they are charging the earth for it , let's not lose sight it's only a pushbike.
‘Brands pushing up entry level/ mid cost bikes…’ - don’t forget brands putting unnecessarily expensive parts on mid-spec bikes (I’m looking at you GX AXS T Type / headset cable routing)
Since most people size down with Canyon sizing compared to pretty much every other brand, it simply amazes me that they cannot make the small size Neuron with 29 inch wheels.
Hi Phil, I loved the Habit LT! Bags of travel for a trail bike, yet maintained the zippy, fun ride characteristics. Loved spending time on one and would have loved some more! ~ Will
An absolutely cracking bike! And even won BikeRadar's Bike Of The Year award in 2023. Read more about that here: www.bikeradar.com/reviews/bikes/mountain-bikes/voodoo-bizango-pro-review ~ Will
Hi Drew, great question! Many riders find handlebar width to be personal preference, or size according to their physiology. So manufacturers like to supply bars which are on the wider side to give consumers the greatest possible choice. If you buy a bike from your local bikeshop they should be happy to cut the bars down to your required size! ~ Will
Offer from Trek and Marin it is absolute disgrace 🤮, and your statement "cost just 850£" or for Marin "cost just 725£" wtf ? Just? Like it's nothing. Completely outdated components way over priced I mean you get nothing for that money
Exactly that marin crap is complete junk. Trek looks abit better, if you replace coil fork with some recon air fork and use better brakes, maybe shimano deore or equivalent it will be good.
Referring to drive train components like derailleurs and cogs as "consumables" is just such a sad statement to make... Gearbox MTBs cannot become mainstream soon enough!
It sucks that American's don't get some of the great bikes which are UK only. Hopefully the other four bikes on the list which can be bought in the USA is some consolation! ~ Will
@@bikeradar For starters I'm in the UK, there are HT bikes available in Decathlon and Halfords that include hollowtech BBs, thru-axles and tapered head tubed starting at £5/600. The Voodoo Bizango for instance currently retails at £750 and up until recently you could grab a Ragley Marley for around £800 from Chain Reaction. The Marlin which is an ok starter bike (all models) is a £3/400 bike with a Trek badge and IMO misleadingly sold as a mtb.
Which is your favourite budget trail bike?
Gotta vote for the Canyon!

Best bike or best mustache?
Best mustache 100%
Thanks for thinking about us, the common men.
if you can find one, bnew 2022 TRANCE X 1 is like 1700 usd right now. fox 36 performance, slx drivetrain and only 32lbs. cant beat that.

If you had any one of these bikes in thee 80s everybody would of thought you were from outer space 😂😂😂😂
Such a great point! The progress in materials, geometry and suspension has been incredibly quick. Thanks for commenting 🙌

Marin Bobcat is the best value 29” hardtail IMHO.
Thanks for commenting George. The 29er looks like a really well-rounded proposition.

Im looking at buying the boardman
Nice one, the spec list is impressive and the geometry looks good too! Thanks for commenting!

Has anyone had to do a little commuting on the marin san Quentin, how bad would that be?
Great video Will. Good to see you the other day.
Thanks Richard, glad you enjoyed it! Hopefully catch you out on the bike soon 🙌
~ Will
Thanks for throwing some HTs on there !!!!!!
These are borderline XC bikes, can we please get a test with trail bikes like the Spectral AL 6, Vitus Escarpe etc.
Is there such a think as a trail bike with a cargo rack?

Hey, why do they size down? Are they too long? I'm thinking about getting one.
@@martynprice87 I just got a used medium Canyon Neuron 5 and it fits just as its supposed to. My friend's large Trek Marlin 6 is too big for me.
How are you liking the Cannondale habit lt?

Any 3 inch tire hardtail is the best value for the money
I have trek superfly6 brilliant fun only disappointment is the 11 speed
no mention of Polygon T6?
Why are the handlebars so big ? ...never right that big

Completetly disagree. Overpriced bullshit.
What do you ride? A 1993 Raleigh with cantilevers?
Start with the Marlin lol, it's sh1te, square taper bb and qr dropouts should be nowhere near a mtb.
Thanks for commenting, your spec knowledge is on point! What's your pick for a trail bike which costs £850?
