  • This is one of my most favorite dishes of all time. It honestly seems intimidating at first but it's a lot more simple than you think.
    I actually found some Jameed on amazon, Make sure you read the instructions on how to use it. Here is the Link: www.amazon.com/Ziyad-Starter-...
    It is tough to give perfect measurements of everything, but i think it would be awesome to revisit this and make a smaller batch at home with more attainable instructions and measurements.

    As a westerner (Costa Rican), eating on the floor and with your hands seems strange but I really like the sense of communion and friendship of a group of people eating together like this.

      @Tralalalala Opaaa I’m not sure if by the original people of Costa Rica, you mean indigenous but I’m aware they used to eat on the floor and with their hands. My comment was based on today’s standards. I do find it to be a beautiful thing just not common for western people.

    Made me emotional. Back in my childhood eating on the ground together with all my brothers cousins uncles, the whole family all together old young sitting together eating a good ass meal. good days man good days the western world dont know none about that

    I've lived in Saudi Arabia for years, and this just brings back so much memories! I can smell the coffee and the incense from here, and that dish looks absolutely amazing!!!
    In Turkey we call the yoghurt drink "ayran" (yoghurt, water and salt), and I think in Arabic it's called Laban

      Ayran is called "shaneenah" in Jordan whereas laban is just normal yoghurt.

      I just learned something. Our most famous brand of Laban/yogurt in Lebanon is called Laban Ayran lol I never thought of it.
      Btw I also lived in Saudi for 16 years. I miss these days.

    The cloth on the floor eating syle is so "Uyghur" hahaha never knew we have so much similarities with middle east. we call it Dastihan داستىخان. The lamb head though haha the tongue is the best part and the meat in the head is actually so good!

      @@mohammedbanisaid708 ooo. We don't eat the head part. I dunno why but we just don't. We give the head and feet and the outer skin/fur to local orphanages, or madrasas, where students from other places, who do eat them can enjoy.
      But sitting, eating with hand, dastarkhaan, and sharing the big plate ((we call it traemi)) of food, this all is so common among us. Love my fellow Ummah people. We are really united in these matters😊, but unfortunately not on the matters which actually matter😞😞😞..

    I dated a Iraqi Muslim in the USA in Colorado. He made this for me once and I loved it. In Kashmir, I love to eat Yakhni, which is a minted yogurt soupy thing like mansaf. I am happy to know how to make this now!!

      If you do try it, the rice is a lil sticky so grab a handful, make it into a ball, while it’s in your palm, use your thumb to push into your mouth. Or you can just stuff it in hehe

    I read the description where you said you’ll revisit this dish at a later time and give more specific instructions for a smaller batch, that would be amazing!!! It's all good! 😉 👍🏻 Listen I'm from California and I like trying new things, I've shopped at this Arabic International Market where I usually get all my spices when I want to try a Middle Eastern recipe. I Love Middle Eastern and Meditarranean food, awsome flavors, although I'm not familiar how distinct they are from each other when it comes to ingredients and flavors. But it sure sounds like it's worth a try. I'm down to try this dish. Wish me well. Love your channel.

    I love this vid because they’re talking Arabic freely and it’s so refreshing and it’s like a treat for native speaker (ghaiths accent doesn’t sound Jordanian to me idk why but it sounds Saudi/Emirati)

      This is actually the Jordanian bedouin dialect it might sound similar to the Saudi dialect but they are not the same

    Love this! friends just hanging out cooking making yt videos... it takes a village, as they say.. the lamb head sitting there with mouth open and tongue sticking out was too much... America doesn't really have many traditions about food and ceremony stuff.. it is cool to see the ways of other cultures prepare, bless and then finally eat their meals..
