He's not kidding about "quality of life" thing. When you're constantly dealing with abnormal heartbeats, it affects so much and just ruins your days and weeks and quality of life goes down the tubes.

I would agree, Linda. I've been dealing with this again recently, myself. Some are saying I just need to do some things to decrease my anxiety. I can do that, but I am still often getting nervous about the skipping heart beats coming back. I also notice I slump quite a bit because I'm a little afraid if I straighten my posture, my heart will start beating quicker than usual again.

    • @Hannah-pn2gs

Lynn Walker Totally understand, I have been physically ill for the past year gone even lost ability to work with all the pain. The doctor's appointments are too far between but what you said about when I slumping I have less palpitations and heart rhythm are more normal but still not good for one's posture. I can only feel safe to stretch when in bed safer.

i will tell you how to stop palpitation in day as well as night
1)Is to take deep breaths Inhale and then exhale imagining pushing anxiety out
2)Is to keep deep brething as first priority then heart beats eg if your heart beats very fast even though you start deep breathing dont pay attention to it trust me my bp was 180 when i was getting palpitation after 20 min when i check it went to normal.Just do deep breathe it will calm your brain as well as your heart

La Gloria Es De Dios I am a you tuber like you, I can’t help you, like a doctor I just share what has worked for me, for palpitations, maybe research, Magnesium Glycinate, it works for me. Also know that magnesium citrate is excellent for me coz I have constipation issues, if you don’t, then I’m not sure if this will give you to many bowel movements, but it’s awesome I like using it....about the Glycinate the company NOW has hit take a look....or before you purchase anything else try taking a nice decent pinch of pink Himalayan salt on your tongue & drink some water, keep trying stuff because your MD ain’t going to help you, just remember for your MD there’s NO money in healing you so they going to keep treating you, research your condition it’s easy, mostly on UA-cam, checkout Dr Eric Berg too... all the best

I spent 8 months in Taiwan. I met cardiologist, gastroenterologist, neurosurgeon. tests after tests, spent thousands of dollars. Everyone ignored me when i said 'my heart palpitations are related to my digestion'.
Then i returned to india and spent 4 months, meeting various doctors, again spending thousands of rupees, still no change.
Finally you explained exactly what is happening with me and exact cause of it. Just by following your suggestions, my palpitations are gone.

My doctor thinks its not necessary to inform me and/or just wants to give me medication or says "yeah it's fine" and wants me to leave. Doctors in Europe barely have any time or take the time to really talk to their patients. Was better a decade ago where they actually told you what might be wrong with you and actually asked you if you want medication or not and what alternatives may look like.
Thank god for doctors like Dr. Sanjay Gupta!

This!! I do have palpitations and afib, and I started watching your videos that I found online while waiting to see a cardiologist. I started taking magnesium as you suggested because it was simple to do. Started taking a walk every day as I realized since Covid I have been not as active, I have become fearful, stuck indoors mentally if you will. I quit drinking lovely wines as I noticed heart palpitations after especially red wine. So I cut out wine. My symptoms have improved drastically after a month of magnesium and these dietary changes. Yesterday I finally saw the cardiologist and she asked why I was there. I told her my story and she said, great, you are on the right track now, follow up in 3 months but I am not concerned about your grade 2 afib with the steps you are implementing to improve symptoms. Dr. Gupta, I am so very grateful for your educational videos! Thank you thank you! May God bless you richly for your generous sharing of time and knowledge to teach.

I love your videos! I thought it might be helpful to post my experience... I have had horrible anxiety, heart palpitations, spikes in BP, etc, over the years. The last couple of years it has gotten progressively worse. Doctors could find no issues other than the high BP. It would sometimes be as high as 170 over 100. I am an active, fit, 58 yr old female pescatarian with no history of heart disease and taking no meds. After watching several of your videos and doing lots of additional research I began omitting gluten from my diet. It was a TOTAL GAME-CHANGER. No more anxiety, no more palpitations and no more blood pressure spikes. It may not work for everyone, but it is certainly worth a try. Blessings!

I had a severe recurrence of A-Fib on April 12, 2018. My cardiologist sent me to the ER and scheduled me for cardiac ablation. I declined his instruction and did not go to the ER or do the ablation. After listening to your videos, I have been in sinus rhythm since that time! Thank you Dr. Gupta. Your education has reduced my anxiety about my condition and that obviously was one of my triggers for A-Fib, along with the magnesium deficiency, lack of sleep, lack of sunlight and unmanaged stress. I am systematically watching all your videos and learning a lot. Thank you for helping us!

I went to the ER because I was having very strong scary heart palpitation episodes. I recently changed my diet and started some supplements under the guidance of a natural health practitioner. Explaining this to the ER Dr and nurse I actually got eye rolls and sighs... They called poison control for my vit d, magnesium, b complex and probiotics I'm taking. The Dr was scolding me for being on vit d. So I told her to check my vit d. The test results were not back for a couple of days. I found out I'm still low! Definitely not overdosing on vit d. I hate the treatment I get when I tell them I am doing things naturally. BTW I've continued my diet changes, exercise and supplements and I haven't had an episode yet!! I found out it was a skipped beat I was having. One of your videos taught me that. I helped myself through research and finding you more than the Drs I have seen. Thank you!

Thank you so much, for this information!!! I have just recently been diagnosed with PAC's, and they drive me crazy. Have been having it a lot in the past year, but just actually found out what was going on, about two months ago. My Cardiologist did exactly what you said. Told me they weren't dangerous, and went on about her business. This left me scared and confused. I had a very sneaky feeling that they were caused from my diet. Though I have been doing well with watching what I eat, and losing 30lbs since November 2014 :D I added red wine for the "heart healthy" benefits. When you said wine, a light bulb went off in my head. I have a lot of things to work with now, and I thank you so much for taking the time to tell us these thing's. Only a true caring soul would take their time to something like this, for a bunch of people they don't know. All doctors should be like you! Thank you so much for this priceless information! Also, the comments below about Avocado was another light bulb moment. I have been craving them, and not knowing why. I imagine I am pretty deficient in magnesium. Thank you so much, really! This does so much for my anxiety over it all!!

These things helped me A LOT:
Quitting caffeine (especially coffee with cream and sugar)
    Lower sugar intake
    Lower alcohol intake
Getting a lot more sun (vitamin D) -- this helped a lot!
Having vegetable juice a few times a week
    Easing up on heavy exercise
No Dairy (except for my cheese!)
I used magnesium for a while, and it helped. But I no longer use it, so I now use more natural methods.
BTW: I did take magnesium supplements for a while (6 months) which helped a lot but then they started to backfire. Now I don't take any magnesium.
UPDATE: I've been using Hawthorne Berries for the past few months, and they've helped a lot WITHOUT any side effects for me. Although, I have to keep the dose low because it can lower my blood pressure too much.

Maybe because you're scared or nervous (to be outside). Find a quiet place where you can enjoy the sun. The sun was put there for a reason. You need sunlight. Don't listen to those people about skin cancer. They just want to sell sunscreen lotion. Sun is good for you.

    • @redburtley6021
      @redburtley6021 7 років тому +3

No, Crammer Jack, you're a dense moron. Do you think our ancestors stayed indoors all the time like we do today? Do you think that primitive tribes of today get skin cancer? No, they don't. The sun is not the enemy. If it was, we wouldn't be here today. Next, you're going to tell me and the rest of the world that water and air are dangerous, and we should stop drinking and breathing. YOU are a DENSE MORON. Just listen to yourself. Where do you get your logic, and where do you get off on calling other people names, turd.

    • @Medietos
      @Medietos 7 років тому +3

Red B: Agree, just watch out not to get the red sun burn, that's dangerous and can give cancer after 10 years, and esp if you get burned on sama place more than once. Right, Sun IS everything and so good a doctor. Just remember, the Ozone holes has unfortunately changed the situation. Cave men didn't destroy the Ozone layer, and were not (compulsive) sunbathers, they spent time and worked in the sun naturally, seeking shadow if it felt too hot etc..
Sensitive or ill ppl should wear a sun hat.
Great that you got better from the good changes!

I've been eating real food for a year now, no caffeine, no alcohol, very limited sugar in my homemade protein bars, and magnesium supplements (when my stomach isn't upset) and limited starches. I do yoga, aquafit and walk. I'm 22 months off Ativan (1 mg taken occasionally, then more often as panic attacks arose) and suffering with protracted benzodiazepine withdrawal syndrome. I've been complaining of the heart issues for 2 years and finally a 48 hour monitor showed something and my doc has referred me to cardiologist in two weeks. IN the meantime, the palps/missed beats are causing such grief, they stimulate panic in me - I"ve been in panic attack mode for over a week now. I'm so scared but your video helped calm me down a bit. It's great to find informative videos by a doctor!

Thank you for your videos. They are so helpful. As I watch this particular video on how to get rid of palpitations I can see things that I can do to help prevent these episodes. My cardiologist had me wear a holter monitor for one month. And I did experience the palpitations during that time so they were recorded. When I met with him for the results, he told me that they were harmless extra beats. But as you said in your video, they are still troublesome and worrisome. I have started taking Magnesium and also added Turmeric to my daily vitamin regime... and this all seems to help a great deal. Thank you for being there and please continue your videos. They are so helpful.

First time listening! It was powerful and compassionate.
I have begun to have missed heart beats or very slowed beats to about 40 bpm. Im 64, 6’1” tall. 155 lbs. I know when I am having missed or slowed beats because I lose my breath and feel my heart rate on my carotic artery’s. I have been into nutrition for over 40 years. Everything that you named in this video as a potential Culprits to Palpitations I do not, and have not eaten in at least 30 to 40 years. I am gluten-free, dairy free, caffeine free, No nightshades, no peanuts . i’ve used supplements for over 40 years and for the past two years have been rigorously trying many different forms of magnesium. All forms of magnesium definitely give me severe lower leg cramps at night. For the past three months I have been using over 2500 mg of three different types of magnesium. I’m my severely constipated my whole life and no change with all the magnesium and no change in heart disruption. EKGs are all normal. I have an appointment with a cardiologist two months out from now.
I’m perplexed as to what to do??? I also have been doing time restricted eating for over a year.

I've been watching your videos, and the information you give is extremely comforting and assuring. I've been struggling with irregular heartbeats for several years now. I've seen a psychiatrist, and cardiologist. Both cleared me and said there were no issues with my heart and that it could be anxiety induced symptoms. I refuse to believe what I feel is all in my head. These symptoms hold me back from my regular lifestyle. I can't even play with my kids without experiencing these symptoms, and it's so frustrating. The symptoms you've explained in your videos are exactly what I've been experiencing! And I've always known I had acid reflux. I've always struggled with it, but never thought it could be linked to my heart palpitations. I commented on other of Dr. Gupta's videos about irregular heartbeats. Forgot to add that stopping eating after 7:00 pm at night and not eating again until around mid-morning the next day has lowered my inflammation drastically and has thereby lowered my symptoms. I learned about this compressed eating schedule from Dr. Satchin Panda, a pioneer in the body's own circadian rhythms.
